    Corrections and Clarifications:
    01:10:20 - If you are at speed zero, you CANNOT spend defense tokens.
    01:36:00 - You cannot Salvo a Salvo, Ignition, or Counter attack.
    01:39:38 - Standard Crits CAN be used on Salvo attacks. Non-Standard Crits CANNOT.

      at 01:55:40 what exactly do you mean by "choosing critical effect"? Is it meant I have to choos between let's say the blue crit of "Overload Pulse" [-> exhausting all defense Tokens] and "standard critical" [-> face up damage-card]? Or did I get something wrong?

    • @Downsizeit
      @Downsizeit  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gecko2.617 Yes that is correct. Whenever you have a Crit on a die, after the Spend Defense Token Step, you choose which Critical Effect you want before damage is applied. Most of the time, you will choose the Standard Critical as you stated above. However, as you also stated you might have several options depending on upgrade cards. The reason choosing the crit you want before applying damage is important, some crit effects inflict damage like the Onager's super lasers, Assault Concussion Missiles, and Heavy Ion Emplacements. The damage from these crits takes place before normal damage is applied.
      Everything I just said you probably already knew and was just curious about me saying "Critical Effect". I used that terminology because that is what is used in the Rules Reference and I was trying to maintain consistency.

    You are now in my top 4 TH-camrs for Armada! Crabbok, Angry Ewok, and Star Wars Armada Explained being the others. YOU have the heads up when it comes to thoroughness in explaining the foundations AND in how you explain conditions, dependencies, and contingencies at just the time a player needs to know them. Thanks!

      Perfect mesh, I would love to see a Star Trek Armada game! Attack Wing never interested me because the models were X-Wing size. Would love to have a Galaxy Class model the size of an Armada Star Destroyer model.

    53:00 Is a BAD habit! There are effects that can discard the top command dial!

  • @crazykev1985
    @crazykev1985 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I am a complete newbie, so correct me if I am wrong, but isn't it still worth setting dials at the start of the fifth round for a destroyer? I thought I saw an upgrade that allows you to mess with an opponents command dials?

    • @Downsizeit
      @Downsizeit  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes there are a couple, however the only one that I can think of that would apply is Skilled First Officer as that allows you to discard your top dial. If you have that upgrade or your opponent does, then yes, you should plan your full command value.
      The other cards / damage that mess with dials have to do with flat out changing them. And don't really effect order. However, I would say if you and your opponent are playing with those upgrades, I would still set full dials just in case.
      What I am referring to is a common way to speed up the game at the final rounds because 95% of the time, it won't matter.

    Nice video, I have some questions, I wonder if you could help me.
    1. Can I use a command dial or token to speed above what is printed on the card? (ex. printed max speed 4, can I speed up to 5 or 6? )
    2. Can I use my dial to have more clicks (yaw) in my speed ruler than printed on the card? (ex. at speed 3 it is printed 1 click, could I go 2 clicks to the left or right ?)
    3. If I have 2 brace tokens and 2 different ship attack me, Do I use one brace each time to bring both to red/orange before discarding them or do I spend 1 brace toke completely (remove) before I move to the next brace token?

    • @Downsizeit
      @Downsizeit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Answer 1 - No. You can never go above the speed that is listed on the ship card. You can, however, drop to zero. Being at zero, though, prevents you from using your Defense Tokens. Example, the Victory Star Destroyer can never go faster than Speed 2 whereas a CR90 can go all the way to 4 (which is the maximum in the game).
      Answer 2 - Yes. That is the primary purpose of using the Nav Dial, to gain more maneuverability for your ship. The printed clicks are what you get all of the time when at the designated speed. The Nav dial allows you get ONE more at "notch" of your choosing. However, you can never go beyond "2 clicks" at a "notch". If that makes since.

    • @Downsizeit
      @Downsizeit  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. If you are at speed zero, you cannot use defense tokens. It is a very vulnerable speed to be at.

    • @lb1bilbrey
      @lb1bilbrey 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Downsizeit is that the only side affect to being at zero besides not moving?

    • @Downsizeit
      @Downsizeit  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lb1bilbrey Yes. At speed zero you cannot move and cannot spend defense tokens to defend yourself.
