      Thanks for watching and commenting Bob! Yep this is the whole family's favorite recipe. switching up to the peanut oil over the vegetable oil was a real game changer too. crispy goodness! it sure makes us keep jigging up those perch. we are putting out a video of jigging them from a rowboat in 30 degree temps very soon. we just like those fillets too much. thanks again

      @@RogersRigs on the western end where I live the perching this season has been the best in 10 years. June-august we were getting our 30perch per person limit in under 3 hrs 1 mile to 2 miles from shore slowed down a bit mid August hoping it picks up again soon. Walleye fishing has been phenomenal the past 5-6 years year round and for the foreseeable future. Early spring big sows are caught around the islands biggest caught of my buddies boat was 14lbs with 6-7lbers being common. Fast limits with walleye too. Now if we could only get a reliable ice fishing season again.

    This is a great looking recipe, I like the idea of adding ranch to the egg wash. I love Tony Chachere’s original creole seasoning on everything from fish to venison, but it might be a bit hot for the girls. You have a beautiful family Roger. God bless you all. Don

      Thank You Don, And likewise! I think youtube is becoming a new place for fathers and grandfathers to pass down skills to people who never had a Dad to take them hunting and fishing, it could really fill a missing link. I love it when a Dad thanks us for helping them catch more fish with their kids. and i see you are passing along a lot of good info too. Keep up the good work! And God Bless! I'll try the creole seasoning for something new, I like it hot, but the kids and wife not so much. I shouldda done that for the Superbowl feast to give some verity to the perch filet options. fried in butter with salt and pepper is really good too.

  • @scareospace
    @scareospace 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I agree... 1) Hot oil with a high smoke point... 2) Reserve some breading mixture to add back in later. Keeping the oil hot is so important that I keep the "electric" burner on high and just transfer the pan back and forth to an unused burner for instant high heat. When all that bubbling sound starts to decline or stop, then the oil will start to soak in the food.

    • @RogersRigs
      @RogersRigs  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point. I actually do take the pan off the burner but leave the coil on high too. probably not such a big deal with a gas range, but that Hot temp is so important. i should mention that in the next video.

    Can’t wait to get some of your rigs for ice fishing Chautauqua lake in New York next ice season. Do you your rigs on open water?

    • @RogersRigs
      @RogersRigs  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! They work great in open water. We jig them vertically just like when there is ice, or put them under a foam bobber. We do cast them with a small bass casting sinker on the bottom as well if there is a good spot with little to get stuck. They produced really well this spring in a local river we fish for perch. The perch were running up the river during the high water and the rigs produced quite a few dinners for us there. When the bite was a little different we did also use our Deadly Dozen Micro Plastics. They were great when the water was muddy. The extra bit of bright color really helped as did the scent that they are injected with. We just put them on a 1/16th ounce leadhead jig and cast them out. Works great with kids who want to fish as well. Keeps them entertained. :-)

      @@mkwillert Most of the time yes. We put on a grub or 2 to give it some flavor and scent. Perch eyes work great too.

      @@RogersRigs Hey Roger, I didn't make the song up, it's been around for at least 50 years (in Michigan). It's what we used to say when we caught a perch and put it in the bucket. Little ones didn't get a song when they got thrown back.
