I love this series Philip! I recently did this same kind of build with a howa 6.5 Creedmoor. Its in a krg bravo and I recently got it back from Short Action Customs where they trued it and installed a bartlien barrel. I couldn't recommend them enough! Incredible professionals who build some amazingly accurate rifles. I've really enjoyed the series and look forward to more. Semper Fi!!

Great, informative video Phil. Considering a similar build in 6.5 Creedmoore myself, well either that or a Tac A1 but I like the fact the build takes AICS magazines. Interesting about removing the binder plate in the Accurate mags.👍🇦🇺

I ended up doing a similar build for my first precision rifle. Went Tac A1 in 6.5 And ran it for 3 years. Then upgraded to an ACC chassis, Timney trigger, Benchmark barrel, and APA brake and it keeps up with any custom gun. I almost regret building a 6BRA on a lone peak for 2022 because the tikka ran so well

absolutely love your tikka vlog series. Too bad that you don't make them more often 😉 i shoot tac a1 (6,5crm) and stainless varmint (223) both in MDT XRS chassis and they are great. Had a krg bravo on the varmint but had to swap because of the ridiculously short foreend and mainly plastic magwell.

I started my long range journey with a Tikka CTR. Eventually it morphed into a manners stock, criterion barrel, and trigger spring. That gun shot so well from the start. I kinda want to go back to it haha.

I went down the same road turning a Bog standard Howa 1500 into my own version of a PRS rifle.
I used Short Action Customs' action wrenches and I love their quality.
I swapped the factory stock for a GRS Bfrost.
I swapped the factory bottom metal for a PTG kit with AICS mags.
(I even did my own machine work to make my receiver compatible)
I swapped the factory barrel for a 24" 11 twist McGowan heavy Palma (read .875@the muzzle) in 308W
I did my own work too!
I swapped the original clamp on Roedale precision brake for an Area 419 Hellfire match.
I'm still running the stock trigger until I find a factory adjustable one new (Howa triggers are actually decent if a little heavy and I don't like an overly light trigger)
All I have left to do is save for good glass. (Until then My Primary Arms 4-16 ACSS lets me get out and shoot)

Semper Fi Marine! This is a great series for those of us wanting to build a long range rifle on a budget. You explain things very well and I appreciate the time you take to put these videos together. I know you started out with a 20" barrel because that is what you had available and now I believe you have a 26" barrel on the rifle. If there is a 24" version of the Tikka available would it be a benefit to start there rather than the 20"?

Just wonder for the barrel, you mentioned SAC is the gunsmith, which barrel blank maker and what kind of contour it is? The diameter looks much larger than normal tikka prefit barrel, even looks like a standard 1.25" straight match barrel to me. I know Tikka action limits the diameter of the barrel size to 1.1" at the action side only.
