I don't understand how you can transcribe a piece like that. 👏👏👏👍👍👍
That syncopated left hand! Incredible! It just seems impossible that someone could keep that syncopated rhythm with the left while playing a completely different rhythm with the right hand. Peterson was magic!
There are two people here who deserve praise: Oscar Peterson, and YOU!
Thanks for sharing. Keep up the fantastic work.
Greetings from France.
This is phenomenal, I’ve been wanting a transcription of this second version of Mirage for years now, definitely going to get it! Thank you Daan!
So clean, so much power, fantastic transcription mate!
I was getting my hand dirty trying to transcribe it 2 years ago, gave up , was about to take it back but just saw someone had done it, congrats and thanks i guess!
1:28 possibly my fave two bars
OP was INSANE!!! "There Will Never Be Another You" (to quote a great standard).
I just bought the score so that maybe I can learn to play one or two bars at 1/100th the speed 😂. There's enough in that one piece for a lifetime's study. You sir have an amazing ear 👏😎
I’ve seen a few transcriptions of this piece and various versions of the song. I think this is the most well done transcription. I think I’m going to buy it and practice this as it’s one of my favorite Oscar tunes. Thank you!
Are you related to Daan Schreuder? lol.
@@LeRainbow no but i did also notice the very striking similarity of our last names lol
Once a great pianist Glenn Gould, said, if Oscar Peterson would play Bach- then I will stop play piano. This is most compliment and respect for this hilarious genius of Peterson, who to compare to most Jazz pianists practiced every day without exception. That feeling when no matter how much you practice, you will never achieve such mastery. This is genius. 👏🏻
Pretty certain that Gould never said that about Peterson… Though Horowitz did say that if Art Tatum ever switched over to classical, he would quit
glenn gould should have stopped playing regardless, he was not "great" but rather "completely incompetent."
Great rendition, great transcription! Thnx for the insight of the workings of a pianistic genius. Erik
Thank you for posting Oscar Peterson's score! I'm always enjoying and really love it! Can you also upload Makin Whoopee from the Oscar album named Solo?
Какие пальцы, какая голова 👏👏👏👏
'Con fuoco' indeed! 🔥👀
Bro, how tf did you manage to transcribe this. You have my respect Sir
This is something I cry at just listening too.
insane work, thank you so much
_Fantastic!!_
Amazing🔥
Love the code...
Superb
How do you transcribe stuff like this lol
Focused ear training + finishing lots of challenging but completable transcriptions + knowledge of the musician's go-to voicings, licks, textures, etc.
That last point is pretty important. I, for example, really enjoy transcribing Brad Mehldau but years ago I would never have dreamt of attempting to lift anything of his. But as you gain familiarity with the vocabulary and grammar of their work, the process becomes easier.
Probably uses software to help though as well
@@nezkeys79 Nope! I’m a little bit anti software, although i do admit i can help alot…
I write down the transcription on paper in a manuscript style and then write it out digitally
Bravo Daan
@@DaanSchreuder if you transcribe only with pen and paper...you have my respect 🙏🏼
That. Was. 😳
As a guitarist I'd like to find transcriptions for my instrument. Finding partitures is nearly impossible and tabs are often of dubious quality. If anyone knows a decent transcriptor tell me. Reading what people actually did, would help me to identify voicings on different contexts

Интересно, сколько ты потратил часов на эту транскрипцию?
И, кстати, ты забыл в транскрипции указать мычание/рычание Оскара или я хз, что это вообще такое.
People who can't play 10ths be like
...
Smaller pianos should be mainstream then 9th and octave stretchers can play 10ths
Is that a problem?
@musical_lolu4811 of course it is a problem for everyone who can't reach a 10th 😅 come on lol
Damn

Just a heads up, I think you may have accidentally deleted some notes from the RH in bar 25.
Yeah sounds like it's A G# A
Also in 180 one of the RH notes sounds repeated (he has all different notes written)
Thanks! Will update it…
@@DaanSchreuder bar 120 RH: is the F on the first beat of the bar or is it a rest?
I'm still confused as to where the heck this recording was made and when! I can't find it anywhere except in that video you linked, where did that guy get the audio?
Its on spotify now in the album “Back in Town - live in Hannover 1972”
@@DaanSchreuder OOoh interesting! Thanks for letting me know, i wonder if YT music has it out yet, I don't have spotify unfortunately
its actually another version of Mirage in the album you mentioned)@@DaanSchreuder
This is almost impossible to learn, those 10ths strides are insane
Why does everyone transcribe music which is obviously in 2/2 as 4/4 in jazz. It's like 2 beat measures and even 1 beat measures are a mystery to you.
Just notating in the most simple form everyone recognizes
@@DaanSchreuder very reasonable, thanks.
Though it is annoying seeing new musicians constantly struggling with time, even advanced musicians because such a simplification makes them believe time is subjective and thus irrelevant in music. As they never learned to feel time, only count it.
2/2 or 4/4 or 8/8 or 16/16 are no difference in a practical and
sepcific compose
@@Shark-Rex you know absolutely nothing.
I guess that takes a bit of exercising 😂
not same ;;
