Yeah its a shock on some of these nights but they adapt quick, sooner i get these shelters up the better tho, yeah i've got plenty for the tango express to do, cheers
Holey 💩 Doug. You had me wondering when I woke up and there was no video. I hope you can get a good nap in, you deserve it. A few years ago We got 4 feet yes feet of snow in early April. That was bad, it was all I could do to dig my way out to the bales, in the cow yard I just had to throw the tractor in high reverse and back out as far as I could and drop the bale. Luckily I didnt have finish cattle in the barn so all of the pairs were in there. It was a challenge moving pairs from the calving shed to the big barn, but I didn't loose any. It was hovering around freezing during the storm and the power never went out so I was great full for that. I really know how exasperating it can be, hang in there bud, you will be making hay before you know it 😉👍
4ft ?? wow, in April it would be heavy stuff too, non farm folk dont know the "other" stuff we do to take care of these as they call us terrible things, but us ranchers are just made different eh, maybe a smidge crazy too, lol. Oh i make sure to watch videos of hay making in the evening to remind me of better days
Wow, snow like winter is supposed to be. It just makes everything harder on the farm. It’s why we calf in April/May. I think we just lost more calves back before calving cameras. Love that calf warmer…wish I had one. I’ve never seen an engine suck snow into the air filter…that sucks🤭. Look forward to more of your calving season. Never miss. Best of luck! BTW, never miss Sonne either.
Yeah we know these happen but being prepared is another thing, next year we\ll be way more set up for sure. Ed Gosselin's home made warmer is really good, Thanks for watching and look forward to warmer times
Good afternoon, Doug. Hopefully, that nasty weather clears up soon. A hard challenge on animal husbandry. A bit less stress now you've got your tractor back. I drove an open top tractor roughly 30 miles today, + 5 Celsius. So it's not cold, but comfortable. Take care. 👍
Yeah one more day of frosty, chance of snow on wednesday with wind but after that we're great, wow 30 mile open station at 5 would give ya the sniffles for sure, lol
Well thanks for stopping in bud, yeah they're a must as by March we still have temps dip into -30c sometimes so getting baby's core body temp up quickly is a game changer.
Hi, Doug. I sure hope the weather turns to your advantage. Snow is not for working in especially with a biting wind. You said at the beginning that mechanics wasn't your think, then it must be in your genes as you do a he'll of a job with it.
Haha, funny you should say that as we've just had another blizzard roll up on us n drop 8" of heavy snow and of course the cows couldnt wait......oof. i think not having all the top fancy equipment forces you to get good at fixing as paying shops to do it can get kinda expensive eh, thanks for stoppin in.
Good morning Doug. ☕️☕️👍. I was hoping them calves would hold off till this storm you got was gone. The north wind finally quit last night. Been -40 windchills for a couple days.
Good morning Chad. I got going early today, feeding is all done and I moved the 756, I'm going after the wiring and the shifter. It was just below freezing last night.
You've been busy! Good to see the orange beast back!! Cameras definitely make life easier!! Easy to tell you were tired, you started rambling like me 🤣😂 Sub numbers... You are at one of the levels where YT messes with the numbers. Makes no sense, as they make $$ off the numbers 🤔 Nice shout out!! Thank you for the mention too!
Oh it's go time, just waiting till all 3 groups pop their cork then the numbers will jump, yeah at this point the sub thing is just funny, i see Gooble is in financial trouble so they'll be skimming YT even more now, yer welcome bud
@@piperdoug428 yup.. once the cork pops. I miss YT, before gooble took over. Was all on the up and up. Sub count only went down when they'd purge the bots a couple times a year.. usually drop 10-15 all at once.. but would climb back up. Freaking crooks 🤬
I always feed in the morning early, buy cows from everywhere and calve out a couple hundred plus. Rarely get a calf between 10 pm and 5 am. I don’t know why, but it just has been that way since I’ve kept bred cows here for the past 17 years. 🤷♂️🤔
@@burrridgefarmsI don’t know. Just never been a thing around here. If I get 10 calves through a calving in the middle of the night I’m shocked. Usually between 10am to 7 pm will be about 80 % of my calves will be born. The remainder generally between 5 am and 10 am. Rarely a calf after 7 pm unless they were already working at it. Live a charmed life I suppose. Lmao 🤣
@@GosselinFarmsEdGosselinjust don’t happen here. Start in April, mostly wrap up end of may. Buy damn cows from anyone so it’s not inherited. Maybe all of the coyotes howling all night keeps them nervous till daylight???? 🤷♂️🤔☕️☕️👍
Full watch like always...8 on the ground, 8 alive... those are odds we like....Thanks Doug.
isnt that the truth, even if theres some short ears its still better than......
Congrats to the calves Doug😃👍! But sure the little ones are shocked with that weather😮🤔! Great to see the Agco is back finally😁👍!

Same here, I don't like cooking them too long, but they've gotta be in the oven long enough to get cooked through..
Yeah, if they’re chilled they stay longer
Thanks for the update Doug. Never seen that calf-warmer before - looks a great idea!

West man area prone for that type weather in March. Many memories as a kid.
Yup there’s alway atleast one storm in March eh

I think the day length up by you has something to do with it Chad..... that or you are practicing some funny magic 😆
Good morning Chad ☕☕☕
A double Canadian vidjya today..lol
You are pretty lucky!! It's proven that night feedings greatly reduce night calving.
