Had one of our fastest calving ever this year. 5 weeks in, less than 20 cows to go out of 246. Think we’ll start grazing next week here, but sure need some rain. 🌧️. Left our pastures in good shape last fall though, so it’ll let me get going with rotational grazing. But if it doesn’t rain pretty quick, I’m worried about the grasshoppers getting going. Cows might as well have it instead of the bugs.
Storm damage can be messy. We got thar in January and it opened up the view (we can just about see across the pond now😂) I'll send a pic of that along with the gates that I promised to send. Our temperatures have got up into the 20s but not steady and still rain about. The cocci is an uphill struggle till the calves get older. Well done on the skid steer and I hope your trees take.
Yeah you guys had a bad go there earlier, dad said Ayr show was good, and yeah young silly calves and puddles are not a good mix, especially now it's colder n wet again, grrrrr. well the rain is good for the trees and the hay n pasture so take the good with the not so good, lol
Your skidsteer will run a LOW flow rotary cutter, 15-18 GPM. I've got one, made here in Minnesota works really well on my Cat 257. Can't believe their making you move that fence, too many Karen's in the world.....Sorry you lost that calf but just like your title read, If you have livestock....you get some dead stock......I always call a dead calf, a thousand dollar bill.... Get that tree cut or the cows may be walking back and forth over the fence😂. Thanks Doug.
Yeah the place i rented the roller leveler from rents out a scrub cutter so keen to try it, yeah the fence thing is a pain but like you said some folks have nothing better in their life than spreading their sadness, exactly yer not gonna save them all and the mum will just pay the calf's debt, oh there's gonna be sawdust n a bonfire too, haha
Good morning Doug ☕☕☕ Dang calves! And inexperienced heifers!! All we can do is try to keep them alive. Hydraulic parts.. not so different from ac... Lol Poplar here, are like over grown arborvitae.. and they like to rot and lose pieces all the time.. they get 10' through at the butt and very dangerous to cut down. Seems like the eastern variety is actually a tree, used for lumber and furniture. Good to see the skid steer mobile again!!!
Yeah more than half the first timers are getting stolen from by older calves, their like wee sharks sneakin up on them, these poplars is where i'd tell the complainers they dont last long enough to do any good, thats why we're putting in longer life trees that will have some value in 40-60yrs as well
@@piperdoug428 we keep first timers by themselves for 3 days or longer. Then they go in with other first timers until the bulls go out. Gives them a chance to figure it out. Once in general population, it's very rare to see a milk snitch. Definitely need trees that will last a long time!
@@GosselinFarmsEdGosselin yeah our first time 2yr olds stay with their group but we had such a bad birth rate in last years 2yr olds theres 12 3yr old first timers and we cant hold them back anywhere so its off to the big leagues
We had case loaders.they did not have high out put hyds till in the ninety,s.the tool to remove those elec pins is very ceap. And new pins are easy to in stall.but get then from a elec sale house

The Cotton Wood is very ashy in yer fireplace but yeah you can, it dries fast, and yeah the pastures and hay land is sucking it up great
