While motorizing the train isn't the most practical thing given the lack of track that supports it, I'd love to see motorizing the mechanism that spins the wheels in place. I think it could create a really dynamic display piece to turn it on and see the train come to life.
I really like the first mod.
I get that there's the whole "ease of building" thing, but this is a set meant for collectors. It's put at such a high price that it's not really meant to be a playset, and it's mostly going to be older builders getting this set I'd assume. In a set like this, I personally feel that accuracy is better than ease of building. Similar sentiment for the crest mod.
Sure, the dark orange and light bluish-gray might be better for a younger or more inexperienced person building, but black works so much better overall, and it's really not that much harder to build. I just feel that if they're charging so much for what's a large collectable display piece, they should at least try a bit more to make it more presentable from several angles.
I wish Lego did include the little Hogwarts emblem above the name plate on the front. There was no reason to not include it.
I used the printed gold on 1x1 black tile version (part 3070pb290 on Bricklink). It looks great!
Mod 15: Make it the correct color in Dark Red.

That's the one thing that has prevented me from buying it, it's the wrong color
Maroon and Dark Red are the same color.
For the tannish yellow hair piece on Malfoy, you can also get it from the James Bond minifigure which came in the Speed Champion Aston Martin set, which would be a cheaper option if you're trying to make an adult Malfoy minifigure for this set.
For the clear heads you can add the clear mysterio dome head from the far from home sets and featured on the 2019 Mr. Freeze.
These mods are absolutly amazing. Especially The ines to The front bufferbeam with The vacume brakepipes and The cab interior. I swear so Many people complain about this set not being accurate and missing out on oppertunities. And here you are doping These things and making The set better. I like The set myself as it is since its sich a faithful recreation to The real thing and would deffinetly get The set
I'm a big G1 fan and, since this model has been confirmed to be G1 by Lego, I tried it on SM45 track and with minimal modification it worked. A dual Technic XL motor set up conversion later and this model has become a genuine G1 model for 1/4 the price (the price of a KS Hall class)

I was thinking of adding maybe a 2nd passenger carriage car (Or even a Luggage car for the trunks and owls), and doing a second set of rails that sits behind it (To represent the train station better)
I was then also thinking of maybe expanding the main platform 9 & 1/4's and adding the platform from the school station.
This would of course add a lot of cost, though would have loved that to be the real set. Something that represents the display of the real stations and platforms (Both types of stations) in a more iconic way. If you get what i mean... It will be sitting in a dedicated display shelve showcase in my house in the future.

Can the train not be motorised by adding a driven wheel unit inboard of the existing wheels. It could then run around a standard track with the larger, fake wheels overhanging the edge.
I am struggling to make out the parts he has used to upgrade the actual locomotive. Does anyone have a conclusive list please? I'm not interested in the station or figures upgrades. Cheers

I plan on doing alot of additions to mine over time. The plan is to add in more train cars to match the movie and to extend the platform the same distance. Im not going to make the extra train cars open up or have lights like the one that comes in the set, but i will build them the same apart from that for visual continuity and detail. Id like to come up with a better way to make the archways on the platform so that the little gaps are eliminated. May not be possible but with how long this addition to mine will take, maybe some new pieces will be created to help with that. One can dream right?
When I first look at the official packaging and other reviews on the new Hogwarts Express set. I was not happy with the front details of the loco, especially the model have lack of smokebox door handle details and I thought this is something big they have missed out! Yes, maybe they have no room to include the handle, so the Hogwarts Express headboard and numberplate is in it's place slightly upper. I hope Lego would improve it in the future!
Oh and also they need to make a sticker for the shedcode on the smokebox door.

There is a actual hair pice the Lego has made and it looks Identical to adult Hermione I have one but no idea if it comes in brown tho mun is dark brown
It definitely does, I believe it was in the fun in the park people pack, and I'm pretty sure it's shown up in build a Minifigure stations too

I feel like that the place they stay in No way home and were cure Doc Oc could be in a similar style as the Privit drive with it being a bit bigger. It will have Aunt May, Doc Oc, spider man, electro Green Goblin and maybe Happy Hogen(also Dummy but he is obviously a build not a figure).

Great video I appreciate the attention to detail. One thing I'll suggest. Get a pop filter for your mic. Listening on my phone no big deal but any audio that adds bass is killed by the popping. That said still a great video, thank you
You didn't mention how the wheels on the front pony truck and tender wheels use locomotive driving wheels with wheel counter weights. You should probably change them to spoked wheels if you want detail.

Give it a shorter piston rod so the Lego axle bar doesnt go out of the front of the thing and make it look weird

The connection rod should be sliver like in the movies and the IRL engine which is a GWR hall
Old lego rails were individually built, you could try that for track
If it does fit on gauge one Some Thomas fan is going to buy this with their replica percy or something and have Percy push it around

I have an idea: stick some tan cheese wedge pieces of the slopes underneath the station.
the roof is the hardest part to get back on I’d just raise the whistle up a bit so it fits.
The Hogwarts Express got way to much backlash. To many people saw others hating on the set and followed suit. It is a good set. Nothing special but still good.

Can you make the mods for the Titanic? Mods like making the Titanic to be her sister the Britannic? (If you have the set since you didn’t make a review for the Lego Titanic)
One of my biggest complaints about this set which is supposed to be super detailed and accurate is that they got the color wrong. In curtain lights, especially in the first movie, this color is more or less correct but if you watch the other movies you can specifically see that the train is a much darker red. Think of the red bricks on the bottom of the titanic Lego, I would have liked this set in that color
I would have loved it in dark red but it could have ended up with slightly off color parts like the big Pick Up truck and Speed Champions Corvette where you can see different batches of dark red vary next to each other. I had the same issue when building my P.R.R. Work Caboose and I had like a dozen different types of dark red parts. Standard red is a consistent shade on all part types so I guess that's one reason why they stuck with it for this very expensive set.
@@playingwithechoes I’m actually considering buying all the red bricks in the titanic hull red. Maybe change the yellow to a less bold color as well
I would make the platform longer and the carriage roof I would put flat tiles on it

Train nerd here; regarding the first point about the Techic piece not being black, that's technically (no pun intended) not super far from reality. If you look at the inner-frame workings of a lot of Great Western locomotives you'll find they're bright red. Not sure what exact colour the workings of Olton Hall were when it appeared in the Harry Potter films but it's very unlikely something hidden away behind the wheels would've got repainted.
Did anyone experience that their carts did not connect right? One of our carts sort of rides too high on the next which means it does not touch the track in one end

I don’t care for Harry Potter, it’s a good series don’t get me wrong, but I want this because I like British steam engines, so I might get this and not put stickers on so I can just have a train lol.
i dont understand why the driver has stuble. seems very out of place for a british driver. oh also the crosshead is not in line with the wheel centres. oh and it's called a locomotive

If you make it narrow gauge then it might work on Lego track. Another thing to note is that those people in the train crew who carry baggage are called porters.
