Honestly the ucs one. It looks amazing and is not only one of the nicest harry potter sets but nicest train sets. I know it doesn't run on track but it's not supposed to. It's a display piece
My favourite is the 2018 one it comes with a station and a hood train and also 5 minifigures!!!! It was also affordable which the 500 dollar one was not !! Looking forward to the one which will be released in the summer
This was a perfectly timed review, I just bought the original, and the second one new in box online for some reason. The second one comes with stickers to make the coal car part that only comes with the motorized version. (10132). I think I’m going to add the trains together to have a first and second class car
The older sets look incredibly outdated and inaccurate. The UCS set is the greatest, and the runner-up will likely be the Hogsmeade Village Station version once it comes out.
Owning the motorized 2004 model, i'm a bit sad that you didn't show the motorized set had a hogsmead station build at least. i liked the design of both the train and the trainstop, still one of my favorite sets IMO.
I use this video to piece check my 2010 Hogwarts express lol. I don’t know why, but the only things I’m missing are the three black square flat pieces on the top of the passenger car roof. I guess I must’ve needed them for something else
I'm terribly sorry to be that guy but I believe that when you mention 'piston rods' you might actually be referring to 'coupling rods'? Piston rods are the beam of metal connecting the piston to the crosshead, while coupling rods are the beam that connect the driver wheels and in the case of the Hogwarts Express, connects the driver wheel to the piston.
The Lego designers during 2004 be like: "Hey Joe, we need to release another Hogwarts Express for this year's lineup." "Oh crap, I forgot about that. Uh... how about we reuse the old model from 2001?" "Joe, the customers will notice." "How about we move the smokestack by one stud, and add windowpanes to the carriage?" "...Joe. You're a genius."
Awesome review! My favorite Hogwarts Express is the $500 one, but the only one I have (aka the only one I can afford) is the tiny mini build that came with the last Advent calendar 🤣 Just for curiosity, was the most recent set the only one that came with the Trolly Witch? 🤔
There is actually a fake lego set by mould king that looks amazing too, and it can even fit on normal train tracks(though this is slightly controversial)

The fact the large scale Hogwarts model fits on Gauge 1 model tracks opens a lot of possibilities with Thomas The Tank Engine models....
