It was time to explore a band that we have NEVER heard of! Nightwish! it was a 10/10 for us! Thanks for requesting this one guys! What’s the next 10/10 Nightwish song? 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
The next ones need to be: "Everdream (Wacken 2013)" and "Romanticide (Wacken 2013)", then the others, I think that "The Greatest Show on Earth" and "The Poet and the Pendulum" need to be the last ones of them because its their grand finale.
fun reaction guys, welcome to the Nightwish party :) You've already gotten various requests from people - the Nightwish army is nothing if not..erm...passionate :) I think you two would enjoy 'Storytime' from this same Wacken 2013 show, its a lot of fun and is usually a good intro to Nightwish :) Either that or Romanticide from the Wacken 2013 show is also a popular song to check out after Ghost Love Score.
'Romanticide' live if you want to hear what they sound like on their more metal side: th-cam.com/video/zz_7OCCQlXs/w-d-xo.html 'The Poet and the Pendulum' live from Wembley if you want to hear some truly sad, emotional music: th-cam.com/video/qUAoCc9mYFA/w-d-xo.html For 'The Poet and the Pendulum' it is worth knowing the story behind it: The band was formed with another singer besides the lovely Floor you saw here. The parting with the original singer, Tarja, was not a happy one, and it sent the songwriter/composer of the band, Tuomas on the keyboard, into a deep depression. The song is a journey as he navigates and deals with that depression. He said writing the song saved his mental health, so it gets pretty deep.
Great time to discover Nightwish, they've got a new album out next month. Romanticide or Storytime for your next reaction, but you'd have to try very hard to find a live performance that isn't amazing.
Hello, @ Father and Son! Nightwish Army incoming here, your reaction just appear on our radar.. I truly enjoyed your enthusiasm!.. Since this is your first Nightwish experience, here are some info that may help you navigate (a short history of the band, concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a female fronted symphonic metal band. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrulmentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " Other Nightwish songs with the actual formula of the band you may like: "Song Of Myself" live at Wacken 2013 (dark/metal) th-cam.com/video/lQu5QjidHWg/w-d-xo.html "Ever Dream" live at Wacken 2013 (uplifting vocals) th-cam.com/video/YwGSAFarHRg/w-d-xo.html "Romanticide" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) th-cam.com/video/zz_7OCCQlXs/w-d-xo.html "Dead Boy's Poem" - live Buenos Aires 2018 (soulful ballad) th-cam.com/video/S8E3L7ggLMM/w-d-xo.html "Storytime" live at Tampere 2015 (uplifting vocals) th-cam.com/video/mO6-WkXJYX0/w-d-xo.html "My Walden" live at Tampere 2015 (celtic / folk) th-cam.com/video/J8Xwr1kTEdk/w-d-xo.html "Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean" live In Buenos Aires 2018 (epic/metal) th-cam.com/video/t26r_vAYQ0Q/w-d-xo.html And if you want to hear Floor growling :) then try "Yours Is An Empty Hope" live at Wembley 2015 th-cam.com/video/vyLsU7Q333k/w-d-xo.html Last but not the least - there are already 3 new singles released for their upcoming 2020 album Human :||: Nature: "Noise" th-cam.com/video/LczGSoibRe8/w-d-xo.html then "Harvest" th-cam.com/video/Xy29T7LBM_I/w-d-xo.html and yesterday "Ad Astra" th-cam.com/video/VshpPBBehxE/w-d-xo.html You can also react to Floor Jansen's performances in Beste Zangers 2019 (TV show from Netherlands), here is a playlist made by Floor herself (start listen it in reverse order..): th-cam.com/video/plCScjvDOJM/w-d-xo.html Thank you! Waiting for more Nightwish reactions. All the best from RO.
@ Gabriel , thank you SO much for taking the time to write us. Me and my son were completely blown away when we watched this video. The band is absolutely amazing and so exciting to watch. We really appreciate you making such a long comment and educating us and the rest of the people who never saw them or heard of them before. It’s been a few hours since we made the video and we still can’t believe how amazing it was. Finding a gem like Nightwish is the reason why we do this and take requests from our subscribers. Me and my son bond over rock N roll music, and finding a band like this is so amazing !! Thank you again for educating us all on Nightwish and I cannot wait time hear more of them. Stay in touch ! - F
@@fatherandsonreactions I admire your father-son relation, exploring together the beauty of music. Nightwish is truly a gem as you said, and I'll subscribe to follow your discovery journey. See you in your next reaction.
Well, they have so many awesome songs that its really difficult to recommend, im going to make a list: Live Wacken 2013: - Romanticide - Everdream - Storytime - Ghost River - Song of Myself Live Tampere 2015: - Weak Fantasy - The Islander - The Greatest Show On Earth Live Wembley Arena 2015: - Yours Is An Empty Hope - The Poet And The Pendulum - 7 Days To The Wolves Maybe I forgot some songs but these are the ones that I remembered.
1996 - 2005 Tarja Turunen (Opera) 2006 (breaktime) 2007 - 2012 Anette Olzon (Jazz-Pop) 2012 - today Floor Jansen (any kind of style) P.S. just stick on their live concerts and you won't go wrong... Floor is like a Dutch version of French "Fleur" (Flower)
Welcome to the world of Nightwish. Yes Floor Jansen is a beast, she is on a level that no one currently can reach. The symphonic sound is masterminded by keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen. Undoubtedly most requests will center around Floor as lead vocalist, I would recommend early in your Nightwish journey to check out the studio recording of 'Angel's Fall First' from their debut (1996) album of the same name to hear where the band started. The original vocalist Tarja has a fully classical/operatic voice. Floor can go full opera, pop, rock, soft & sensual, growl, scream, and is able to blend those varying styles seamlessly with unparalleled control. Enjoy the ride, Nightwish is the sound you never knew you needed.
Definetely. But later. It is a deep dark song. Go through other stuff from NW first. Then go through the lyrics and story behind it and after that react.
Yea that’s an epic song but I think they should learn about the band do more songs and wait for the Greatest Show on Earth, Poet and the Pendulum epic songs but like fine wine it has to be savored, then they will really enjoy those. Ever Dream, Ghost River, Storytime, Romanticide oh hell anyone of their songs live just not those two for now. 😇🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Nightwish - it's not just music, it's a full sensory experience. Floor Jansen kills it and the band is great. Hats off to the media people too. She won a Dutch TV singing contest (for professional vocalists) called Beste Zangers in 2019. It seems that she was not well known in her own country until that show, so you're not alone. Operatic metal is a bit of a niche genre.
Beste Zangers did not have winners and losers, that wasn't the format of the show. She did appear on the show and it really helped her to be more known in her own country. BTW reacting to all of her Beste Zangers performances would be a good idea.
@@pmasher Thanks - it's widely reported on reliable media... oh, no. On TH-cam (for example, "Floor Jansen - Winner | Beste Zangers 2019"). I don't speak the language so I go on what gets reported. My bad.
OMG guys, seeing your reaction after your first contact with Nightwish, it's obvious that you're gonna LOVE their music !!! And expect A LOT of requests for more, Nightwish Army is REALLY active and always ready to give you hints, infos, everything you need to discover this universe :-) Glad you discovered them, enjoy the ride, you won't be disappointed !!
I don't want to steal Gabriel's job (he'll soon be visiting you with the whole background story of the band). Just one first answer before he gives you the entire story (and suggestions), the band is from Finland, Floor Jansen is their third singer and she is dutch And... Always listen to them LIVE, they are amazing on stage :-)
Very nice reaction! FYI: There were 82,000+ in the audience during this performance. GLS was the 13th of 15 songs they performed that night. I would recommend for your next NW reaction, either 'Ever Dream or 'Storytime' from the same Wacken 2013 concert.
Wacken is in Germany. They have the world's largest Metal Festival held annually since 1990. For 4 days on the 1st weekend of August. With more then 50+ bands performing. Nightwish was that year's headlining act.
I hope you continue with Nightwish, I love seeing people discover them. I discovered them a few months ago myself, and they have quickly become my favorite band!
This was in northwest Germany. They are a Finnish band with a Dutch singer and a British multi-instrumentalist which you have yet to see. There are several Dutch and European bands that are in the symphonic metal category. Within Temptation, Delain, Epica, among others. Go do the next video. I can't wait.
Everyone who reacts to this video for the first time gets that same thoughtful "Hey now, this is something else" look in their eyes about 5-10 seconds after hearing Floor. And that never gets old to see.
You barely dripped your toes into the ocean of nightwish. They have something for everyone. Heavy in your face metal. To soft ballads. To epic deep meaning scores. With some of the most loyal an loving fans of any band.
Just found your channel. Welcome to Symphonic Metal, and welcome the Nightwish Army. Glad you enjoyed this. Floor Jansen is the lead singer, and she just gave you your first Floorgasm 🤣 Check out Song Of Myself live in Wacken 2013 by Nightwish th-cam.com/video/lQu5QjidHWg/w-d-xo.html Oh ya, they are best enjoyed live
Way to go fellas!!! Fantastic reaction. I knew once you gave Nightwish a listen, you'd see what I...and many others were talking about. Floor is so good on vocals. "F" nailed it when he said she was on a level all her own. Just wait, their music library is full of great music.
@@fatherandsonreactions A long-time request of mine. Alter Bridge, "Blackbird" at Wembley th-cam.com/video/YSrQlvTfB_4/w-d-xo.html or, "Words Darker Than Their Wings" Live At The Royal Albert Hall. th-cam.com/video/fTvJ1TYORJg/w-d-xo.html Have I ever steered you guys wrong? lol
Welcome to the Nightwish army ! You experienced symphonic metal and our goddess Floor Jansen! :) i recommend you Romanticide and Ghost river from the same concert! Well anything you choose from this concert is perfect! 🤘
Loved your reference to Joan Jett, our queen of rock n roll. I'm 71 yr old farm boy from Ohio who was hooked on Joan from her first song. Discovered Nightwish through our older son a little over a year ago and my first reaction to the band and Floor was very similar to yours. As you travel through their songs and history I'm sure you will understand this is one of the tightest bands ever and Floor's addition to the band in 2012 put them over the top. With song composition and arrangements by the keyboard artist, Tuomas, this very experienced band is, for me at least, the best band out there, especially their live concert videos. Welcome to the Nightwish family.
She really outdid herself on that show. Dutch tv show that highlights Dutch singers from various styles and schools of training. They feature 1 artist per episode and have the other artists each sing a song from the feature artists past. The show is formatted as an exhibition, not a competition. Overall Floor sang 8 times, covering 4 languages and 6 distinct styles(with flashes of her entire arsenal sprinkled in). In order: Vilje Lied (german) Mama (dutch) Que Se Siente (spanish) I Don't Know a Thing About Love Shallow Winner Shallow (duet w/ Tim Akkerman) Phantom of the Opera (duet w/ Henk Poort)
One of the most epic songs of nightwish and this was wacken 2013.... Floor was just a few months with nightwish and they are such a perfect fit....the poet and the pendulum at wembley a few years later is also great!.....and also see floor jansen and henk poort phantom of the opera thats epic too....no disrespect to any other singers but floor is the best in the world she is a goddess she is soo versatile as well and she almost always know how to touch you inside and give you goosebumps..thats whats music is about emotion.....great to see the amazement and happyness on both your faces great reaction you guys👍😎
Greeting from Kansas, and I am Definitely part of the Nightwish Army. Growing up in the 70's and 80's with Rush, Priest, Maiden, Ozzy, having all of their music on cd, Nightwish has given me more goosebumps and tears of happy joy than any other band. I am completely Floored by their performances, have ALL of their music on cd, a few DVD's to boot. I've seen this video countless times, still get the goosebumps and tears of joy EVERY time.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Nightwish. Their sound is symphonic metal. They have dozens and dozens of amazing songs. As others have already said, please do live versions as they are definitely a live band. : )
Great reaction! Before you get into the heavy stuff of Nightwish , I recommend "Storytime" from the same concert. It's rocky/poppy great singing. I think you'll like it :)
Welcome to the Nightwish Army 😁😁😁!83.000 People of this Concert in Germany....Epic music awaits you, Nightwish is the best symphonic metal band in the world and Floor Jansen (singing) is one oft the Best Singers worldwide...👍 Greetings from Germany!
I am a US fan for over 15 years. I started out listening to Tarja (strictly operatic), remained during the Anette years (pop rock voice), and have continued loving this wonderful bunch of musicians. I was very excited when I heard Nightwish would be finishing out their 2012 tour with Floor, because I was already a fan of hers from her two previous bands. The bassist, Marko, also sings in a lot of songs, and there is a 6th member not shown on this video, Troy, who plays multiple instruments and sings as well. I hope you will continue to experience this wonderful band that has made me so happy over the years. Anything from Wacken 2013, Wembley 2015, Tampere 2015 and Buenos Aires 2018 will show you just what this outstanding band can do in a live venue. They will be releasing their new album, Human Nature, in April.
Nightwish has many albums and is about to release a new one on April 10th. So much fun to watch you and your son react to this incredible band. You and your son just experienced a very personal and emotional reaction to the best symphonic metal band in the world. We fans call it a Floorgasm. Named in honor of the Dutch Queen of symphonic metal Floor Jansen (Yahn-sen). Floor has operatic and musical theater training and is the best female vocalist on the planet. Your journey of discovery has only just begun. There are lots of incredible songs to hear. It is essential that you listen to live performances. Nightwish is one of the most amazing live bands in the world. They may sound better than their recording, due to the unparalleled charisma and stage presence of Floor. Tuomas the keyboardist composes 90% of the music and lyrics, which are written with a poetic flare using a multitude of metaphors and imagery to convey the story or meaning behind each song. You two were wonderful to watch along with and I am sure that you will be inundated with comments and views from the Nightwish army, which as I type are marching your way. Can you hear the rolling thunder? Now you need to hear some of Nightwish's heavy stuff. I heard you mention Metallica, which is a heavy influence on Nightwish. Take a listen to "Romanticide" from this same Wacken 2013 show. There were 82K+ fans at this concert and Nightwish was the headliner. PLEASE don't listen to any more Nightwish without letting us watch along with you! Great reaction video guys! It's a perfect time to socially isolate (due to Virus), and make lots of reaction video's. Be well. See you next time. See below for several links for suggestions. th-cam.com/video/zz_7OCCQlXs/w-d-xo.html - Romanticide th-cam.com/video/OvOD6xecph4/w-d-xo.html - Dark Chest of Wonders - (Opener at Wacken 2013) th-cam.com/video/YwGSAFarHRg/w-d-xo.html - Ever Dream - more commercial but epic vocals th-cam.com/video/QzIMx7Dqa_M/w-d-xo.html - Lat Ride of the Day - (Closer at Wacken 2013) th-cam.com/video/XtXqUNB8zrU/w-d-xo.html - Yours is an Empty Hope - (Metallica influence live on a cruise ship)
Man I love the enthusiasm of you guys! And yeah Nightwish is great and our very own Floor .... you can't even begin to describe her sorcery! Believe me you've just heard a sliver of her abilities. There is so much out there you guys should hear. Where to begin? Nightwish'es "The poet and the pendulum" or "The greatest show on Earth" may be? Or how about Floor in a duet with Henk Poort (both Dutch) in there performance of "The Phantom of the Opera". And that's merely a start. So enjoy and keep those reactions coming. I love them.
Yes!! Welcome to the Nightwish family. Please do more Nightwish reactions and believe me you won’t be disappointed. I’m a fan of Nightwish and I will be forever. You have to react to The Phantom Of The Opera Live.
Allright guys, you really need to put a warning on this reaction: WARNING!! This reaction may cause an intense emotional meltdown! I was literally goosebumps from head to toe. I am 65 years on this earth - grew up with the Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, Boston, Skynyrd, etc. Around the mid 80's I gave up trying to find any music worth listening to. I haven't found anything I really care for for about 35 years! Never really cared for metal, but this symphonic metal is unique, and this band is actually playing instruments, and this Floor is amazing! No autotune! So, thank you gents for introducing me to this wonderful band. The kid echoed my feelings on that last high note when he says, "That's what I'm talking about, right there!" Bravo Nightwish! Incidentally, they just released a new album a few days ago - more awesomeness.
What you experienced in that last note is what we Nightwish Army call a Floorgasm, because of the singers name (Floor Jansen), welcome to the Nightwish Army, you have a lot of songs to go through 😂 they have 8 studio albums (their 9th being released next month) and that’s without their live albums, they are a fantastic band, looking forward to seeing ur reactions
Hello, just wanted to say I loved your reaction, your enthusiasm for this wonderful wonderful band :) Nightwish is a group of incredibly skilled and talented musicians from Finland the guys in the band are from Finland while Floor Jansen, who is the lead vocalist, is from the Netherlands. She is a real powerhouse, she has voice like no other, my absolute favorite vocalist ever cause this lady can do it all, trust me. It is the reason a lot of us refer to her as our valkyriequeen godess :) She is truly one of a kind
The singer's name is Floor Jansen, and she is the third singer in the band. She joined in 2012. Although the first two singers were also very good, Floor brought Nightwish to another level. She can sing anything she wants in different vocal styles. Any songs you listen to after 2013 will be jaw breaking. The 2013 Waken concert was epic, but their 2018 Live in Buenos Aires is a masterpiece also. You cant go wrong with reactions you do from any songs from these two concerts. Floor also recently sang on a show called "Beste Zangers" during which she sang in different languages. Check those songs out also. You guys have a lot of reactions to do!!! LOL
Aww it's so sweet to see the both of you experience the awesomeness of Nightwish at the goddess that is Floor. Poet and The Pendulum and Romanticide are very much worth checking out.
Omg I almost cried, loved your reaction!!! I remembered, 15 years ago, I discovered Nightwish. Totally they are the band of my entire life. So glad you loved Nightwish, big hugs :)
Sending hugs right back to you ! We are so thrilled that we discovered them !! What an amazing feeling ! It almost reminded me of when I was a teenager and fell in love for the first time ! Haha Thank you for watching and commenting ! - F
Well, it is nice to see people discovering Nightwish. You expressed PERFECTLY my own reaction, all by myself, away from home ! They are from Finland, this concert was in Wacken -Germany ! The band is still the same and they will come up with another record on April 11th. Don't miss it !
Fantastic reaction to Nightwish by you guys, just like the 95% of other reviewers. I envy Nightwish virgins, Yes I was one, but now I'm 'experienced', but to see the reaction on newby's faces, to anticipate the musical passages, the operatic segments, the whole audio/visual impact of Nightwish is a sight to behold. But beware, they are more addictive than heroin, one taste, and you are doomed, (if that's the right word!) to slavishly following their every concert video, interview, newly converted reaction videographers, and realising that you are madly in love with the godess that is Floor Jansen...
Hi Derek , yes we are amazed and blown away by them. So happy we found this amazing group of musicians and we are excited to listen to more of them. Also the Nightwish army has been more then welcoming and we appreciate that ! - F
The singer is Dutch, she' s from the town I was born. She did the Rockacademy and a few years classical training and she is also a voice teacher, but married and moved to Sweden. Try Everdream from the same Wacken concert, you'll hear some more great vocals in that song, beside Floor's.
Hello hello hello. Welcome to nightwish. You now have open Pandora's box. The nightwish army will descend upon you and explain everything. From the history to each and every one of the members. They will also tell you what songs to play to get fully indoctrinated. One more thing, I think it is awesome that a father and son share these moments together and grow together. Kudos to Dad. Nightwish has a huge catalog of songs. Just a little insight here. This was 70 minutes into their set, this was the 12th or 13th song. This whole concert from beginning to end is just magical, you are now under the spell of nightwish. I have watched over a hundred of these reactions and it never gets old. I am a new subscriber looking forward to your show. Well keep on keeping on
Nightwish is a band from Finland and they have been around since 1996. They have had three leads: Tarja Turunen (1996-2005 operatic only), Anette Olzen (2007-2012 pop/rock only) and the woman you saw here, Floor Jansen (2012 - present, any style you want). Floor is Dutch and there's a sixth band member you don't see in this video, Troy Donockley from England, who is a multi-instrumentalist. The music is composed by Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboardist, with some input from Marko, the bassist. The drummer you saw here, Jukka, had to step down for health reasons, but is still with the band. Kai is the new drummer and Emppu is the guitarist. Tuomas writes all of the orchestral parts, which are played by the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Final arranging is done by Pip Williams of the orchestra. There are documentaries about this process if you're interested. Floor joined the band After Forever in 1997 and became a co-lead, writing much of their music. After the band broke up in 2009, she formed her own band ReVamp, where she had complete creative control and wrote the music. She then had her own health issues and later joined Nightwish mid tour when the band was forced to fire Anette. There's a documentary on TH-cam about this, "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours." There's a ton of songs out there from Nightwish with their discography being well over 100 songs. Floor Jansen also has had solo projects as well as a rock project Northward. Other band members have had their own projects. To get an idea about Floor's abilities, check out on TH-cam the Dutch TV program 'Beste Zangers' with Floor. The format is not a competition, just a showcase of music. Seven singers are involved and each take a turn on the centre couch while the rest sing to them, either their own songs, or music that is meaningful to them. Floor sings in English, Dutch, Spanish, and German in this one. In all she has sung in 8 languages. In the program, she sings opera, Dutch folk, Latin (Salsa variant), country-ish, pop, rock, and musical theatre. Just to tease, she sang "Shallow" twice, once alone and once as a duet. You could spend the next couple of years just producing reactions to Nightwish, After Forever, ReVamp, Northward, Auri, Tarot, plus a load of solo stuff, and still not have left the Nightwish family. Then there's many guest appearance of Marko and Floor in a variety of other bands, singing Christmas carols in Finnish, etc. etc. You'll be busy.
I loved watching you two fall into Nightwish. I’m in the US and we have no clue about how “magical” and “metal” Nightwish is, and what an amazing singer, Floor Jansen is. I, along with many others, found NW via this song that blew my doors off the hinges! I saw Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, 1980. I have witnessed some of the best Women who sing in my 6+ decades of shows. Floor is the Queen. Dad, your face told the story of instant “I’m going to buy the album”. Son, is that “The Who” shirt? That was my first concert, in 1971. More NW reactions, please. I need some joy in my day!
Hi Lorie ! Thanks for your cool comments. I have also seen Joan Jett a handful of times , and Pat Benatar also. The Who well over 100 times. I even saw Joel Jett open for The Who ! We are big Who fans in our house. We had no idea about Nightwish till yesterday when we saw the video. We will absolutely do more NW reactions in the future. I don’t think we ever do the same band 2 times in a row, but I will push my son to agree to do another NW for our next one. I doubt I will have to convince him much ! Haha. Take care Lorie and we hope to hear from you again ! -F
After seeing you guys react to my all-time favorite Tool, it's great to see you smacked in the face like I was by my other favorite band Nightwish! You're in for an awesome and incredibly fun and fulfilling journey, similar to the one I've experienced with my teenage daughter recently. Enjoy!
Hello Father and son Reactions, thanks a lot for your awesome reaction. This masterpiece (Wacken 2013 version) reached almost 27 million views on TH-cam so it seems to be the most popular performance of Nightwish. But they have made some more epic performances such as Romanticide, I want my tears back and Ever dream (from the same concert) or their 20 minutes lasting The greatest show on earth (Tampere 2015 concert). Options enough.
Confirmed, now you've seen them LIVE! So glad you got the chance to see them in New York. Radio & TV embargo, "not made here" syndrome :) The pandemic, lockdown and TH-cam changed all that.
Really great reaction! 👍 glad you enjoyed it as much as all NW fans do... they really are something special... I would suggest song of myself, storytime, romanticide, ever dream, poet & the pendulum...
Haha! Welcome to the world of Symphonic Metal! That genre combines Orchestral Classical and Metal together, and Nightwish is one of the most popular bands in that genre. Great reaction you guys! I need to listen to more of them, since I haven't dived too deep into them myself!
Loved the reaction and the dynamic you two have with each other. A true pleasure to watch! You are just scratching the surface with this supremely talented group of musicians so far, they can do so much more! Every song they play is unique and phenomenal in their own special way. I would recommend sticking with their live recordings as much as possible. Not that their studio recordings are bad in anyway, it’s just that they have a unique ability to play a crowd and they are one of the best live bands currently performing. Floor Jansen (the singer) has Freddie Mercury levels of charisma and crowd control and it really shows when performing live. XD. Looking forward to more from you guys!
Hi ! I suggested this video weeks ago. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Like I said, Nightwish's army is coming. It is mainly made up of kind people who like honest reactions. Floor Jansen, the third singer in the history of Nightwish is truly versatile and incredible on stage. Marko the bass player also sings in the background, and sometimes in front. he also has a great voice. You can choose any live song with Floor as suggested by my fellow commenters. Did I mention the nigthwish army? :-) If you like Pink Floyd, Nightwish did a tribute / cover of High Hopes in 2005, which is great to see. Welcome to the world of Nightwish and more generally to the planet of symphonic metal.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Nightwish!! Down the rabbit hole you go. :) Can't go wrong with any choices, but I would suggest Song of Myself, Ghost River, Romanticide and Storytime, all from the same concert! HAVE FUN!!!
Great reaction - I just subbed. The Nightwish Army will overwhelm you with suggestions. You can't go wrong with anything from Wacken 2013, Wembley 2015, Tampere 2015 and Buenos Aires 2018. Those four concerts have all been recorded as live concerts, therefore the audio quality is etraordinary. And with a band like Nightwish and a singer like Floor Jansen, you want the best quality to truly enjoy every facet of their music. My suggestion (and definitely a 10/10): 7 days to the wolves live at Webley 2015. This song is kind of the little, angry sister of Ghost Love Score :-).
I suggest the following order for your next 4 "Nightwish" videos (all from Wacken 2013): 1) Song of Myself 2) Storytime 3) Romaticide 4) Ghost River., You'll lovvvvve them all.
Glad you liked it. Other bands like NW? Within Temptation, Delain, Epica ... probably even Two Steps From Hell to some degree. There's literally music like this for years in Europe.
THAT was a reaction. I really needed that. Thanks guys! What do we with a quarantine in effect? Watch Nightwish! :) The reason you haven't heard of these bands is because they're not mainstream, and we live in a culture that pushes what's popular. My advice is to leap right down that rabbit hole. Discovering new music in metal and prog has been one of the best things I've done.
Live is always the best way to go for Nightwish. This was recorded in Germany at the Wacken festival in 2013 with 82000 people attending. Love the enthousiasm you two have, keep it up.
I recently saw a reaction of someone that was actually there during that concert. She said that when Floor finished this song with the super high note, a lot of people on the front rows did bow for her.
You're so ready for the Nightwish army. 😂 Your enthusiasm is so fun to watch. Hop on the train of the Nightwish army and enjoy the ride, we have a lot to show you. Keep on going! You already have loads of good requests, just make sure you use live versions of songs, Nightwish is best served live and kicking. 😉
Great reaction!!! Welcome to the nightwish train.....excited to see new Fans of this amazing band ...want something heavier react to nightwish romanticide....stay real!!!
Oh no! You have opened the floodgates to the Nightwish army. You are in for a roller-coaster ride. That last note by Floor is known as a Floorgasm. Always listen to live gigs Wembley, Wacken, Tampere and Buenos aries.
It was time to explore a band that we have NEVER heard of! Nightwish! it was a 10/10 for us! Thanks for requesting this one guys! What’s the next 10/10 Nightwish song?
👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
There are so many good ones from them ..Romanticide, The greatest show on earth are just 2 i recommend next
'Romanticide' live if you want to hear what they sound like on their more metal side: th-cam.com/video/zz_7OCCQlXs/w-d-xo.html
'The Poet and the Pendulum' live from Wembley if you want to hear some truly sad, emotional music: th-cam.com/video/qUAoCc9mYFA/w-d-xo.html
For 'The Poet and the Pendulum' it is worth knowing the story behind it: The band was formed with another singer besides the lovely Floor you saw here.
Floor has got 2 more victims - the “floorgasm” has struck!!
Indeed...right you are!
Oh yeah!
There's no victims... Just new people being blessed with their first #FLOORGASM !
Oh, Nightwish is one deep rabbit hole, but you're in for a treat.
Anything from Wacken 2013, Wembley, Tampere or Buenos Aires
Hello, @ Father and Son! Nightwish Army incoming here, your reaction just appear on our radar.. I truly enjoyed your enthusiasm!.. Since this is your first Nightwish experience, here are some info that may help you navigate (a short history of the band, concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a female fronted symphonic metal band.
So be prepared. lol "

Gabriel, always nice to see your comment, high ranked soldier in the Nightwish Army 🤘
YOU: Oh its a female, i didnt know that.
NW-FANS: No that is a GODDESS !
And they have two great male singers, too: The viking guy (Marko, bassplayer) and their multi instrumentalist (Troy)who is not in that video. ;)
the whole Wacken2013 concert is epic. all songs are good.Tuomas the keyboardist writes the music.he is a genius.
First thing I want to say is I love seeing a father and son spend quality time together.
Second thing I want to say enjoy your nightwish journey.
Well, they have so many awesome songs that its really difficult to recommend, im going to make a list:
Live Wacken 2013:
- Romanticide
- Everdream
- Storytime
- Ghost River
- Song of Myself
Live Tampere 2015:
- Weak Fantasy
- The Islander
- The Greatest Show On Earth
Live Wembley Arena 2015:
- Yours Is An Empty Hope
- The Poet And The Pendulum
- 7 Days To The Wolves
Maybe I forgot some songs but these are the ones that I remembered.
Bruno is spot on!
Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean
@No One I will add 10th man down and I Want My tears Back
@No One nemo from Buenos Aires is my ultimate best version
I want to add "Last ride of the day" to the Wacken Show
Romanticide or song of myself same concert
Both
Yes!!
Yess,... 👍
Let's face it, EVERY song from this Show!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
Song of myself for sure! One of my favourites!!
Live is where it's at with this band. This singer was Floor Jansen [Yah-n-sen], their third and current singer. She is very popular right now.
1996 - 2005 Tarja Turunen (Opera)
2006 (breaktime)
2007 - 2012 Anette Olzon (Jazz-Pop)
2012 - today Floor Jansen (any kind of style)
P.S. just stick on their live concerts and you won't go wrong...
Floor is like a Dutch version of French "Fleur" (Flower)
"She is very popular right now.
"
Understatement of the year.
Enjoy the ride, Nightwish is the sound you never knew you needed.
nightwish - poet and the pendulum 2016 (Live) , that one is a must guy's
And check the background of the song. You must!!!!
Definetely. But later. It is a deep dark song. Go through other stuff from NW first. Then go through the lyrics and story behind it and after that react.
Yes for the Poet you need the lyrics and the background
Yea that’s an epic song but I think they should learn about the band do more songs and wait for the Greatest Show on Earth, Poet and the Pendulum epic songs but like fine wine it has to be savored, then they will really enjoy those. Ever Dream, Ghost River, Storytime, Romanticide oh hell anyone of their songs live just not those two for now. 😇🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I actually don't know why I even suggest songs. THEY ARE ALL BRILLIANT. A 58 year grandpa gets tears often listening to this magic.
That was the 13th song of a 15 song set , the stamina is amazing ,especially the drummer . Love the ovation after the voacl finished . AMAZING
Nightwish army incoming.... Recommend Romanticide as your second song, really any song from this concert is gold!
Nightwish gives me shivers all over... Glad you feel it to!
Wow very interesting! Thanks for letting us know! -S
My bad.
@@tribaltalker1608 I see the problem lol. "Winner" was the title of one of the songs she sang on the show.
@@pmasher That is actually very funny! Thanks again.
OMG guys, seeing your reaction after your first contact with Nightwish, it's obvious that you're gonna LOVE their music !!! And expect A LOT of requests for more, Nightwish Army is REALLY active and always ready to give you hints, infos, everything you need to discover this universe :-)
Glad you discovered them, enjoy the ride, you won't be disappointed !!
Thank you so much! We are so glad we found them! -S
I don't want to steal Gabriel's job (he'll soon be visiting you with the whole background story of the band). Just one first answer before he gives you the entire story (and suggestions), the band is from Finland, Floor Jansen is their third singer and she is dutch
And... Always listen to them LIVE, they are amazing on stage :-)
Welcome to the wonderful world of Nightwish : )
Thank you ! ;) -S
81,999 metal fanatics + straw hat dude.
Nightwish is a lifetime journey. Greets from Finland 🤘🏼😎🇫🇮❤️🤘🏼😎🇫🇮❤️
Quite possibly the greatest musical act ever. You've opened a door that you will find hard to close..
You guys had your first #FLOORGASM ! Welcome into a new world ! Welcome into the world of Symphonic Metal !
I hope you continue with Nightwish, I love seeing people discover them. I discovered them a few months ago myself, and they have quickly become my favorite band!
" She's in a league of her own!" - Truer words have never been spoken! - Great reaction.
Thank you so much! She really is incredible! -S
Floor ... and ... the Nightwhish ... together an earthquake of emotions!
full, intense, deep to tears ... great!
The all time musicbox is filled with jewels like this 18 years old masterpiece, the search continues.
Floor Jansen is the lead singer, and she just gave you your first Floorgasm 🤣

Way to go fellas!!! Fantastic reaction. I knew once you gave Nightwish a listen, you'd see what I...and many others were talking about. Floor is so good on vocals. "F" nailed it when he said she was on a level all her own. Just wait, their music library is full of great music.
Thanks! We were really excited for this one, especially after hearing how good they are -S

I can't go to a Nightwish concert, but I can watch the joy on peoples faces when they discover Nightwish.
Poet and the pendulum live 2016 its a masterpiece
for another side of Floor check out the songs she did on Beste Zangers.
In order:
Vilje Lied (german)
Mama (dutch)
Que Se Siente (spanish)
I Don't Know a Thing About Love
Shallow
Winner
Shallow (duet w/ Tim Akkerman)
Phantom of the Opera (duet w/ Henk Poort)
I also grew up with Pat Benatar, Foreigner, Styx, Heart, all of the popular bands
Welcome to the wonderful world of Nightwish. Their sound is symphonic metal. They have dozens and dozens of amazing songs. As others have already said, please do live versions as they are definitely a live band. : )
Thank you for your comment and for watching us. We are so happy we found Nightwish ! Can’t wait to hear more ! -F

Greetings from Germany!
You two seem to have a great relationship - very cool! . I am so impressed with the young man! Great Reaction.
The greatest Show on Earth Live @ Tampere
You need to play the entire song. Many reactors cut the last 2 minutes - ggrrr!!
I've watch at least a couple hundred reactions to this song, and yours makes my top 20 for sure.
Thank you so much! -S
Great to see you two having so much fun. All the other songs requested by others... I second them! You can't really go wrong.
It’s it’s.... loss of words...every first time Nightwish viewer. Great reaction gentlemen

Little by little they worked their magic on you two. You are now hooked.
Welcome to the wonderful journey that is Nightwish, your reactions to this video was a joy to watch, well done guys 👍👍
Thank you so much Chris 👍 -Ethan
Yes!! Welcome to the Nightwish family. Please do more Nightwish reactions and believe me you won’t be disappointed. I’m a fan of Nightwish and I will be forever. You have to react to The Phantom Of The Opera Live.
FOOR commands an entire army in the world . ARISE NIGHTWISH ARMY, we enjoy your reaction guys, and your son is a great host.
Oh... and always watch live videos. Nightwish is always best live.
My favorite band of all time
My favorite singer of all time
And by far the best band I've ever seen live
nightwish army arrival in 3... 2... 1.. an here we go! Nice reaction cant wait for more!
I've heard this hundreds of times, still get goosebumps
Well we are so happy we discovered them ! -F
That might be the GLS reaction of all reactions. Nicely done men.
Hello,
just wanted to say I loved your reaction, your enthusiasm for this wonderful wonderful band :)
Nightwish is a group of incredibly skilled and talented musicians from Finland the guys in the band are from Finland while Floor Jansen, who is the lead vocalist, is from the Netherlands.
Congrats, our Queen Floor has blessed u with her voice. Welcome to Nightwish.
Great reaction guys, welcome to the Nightwish Army gentlemen.
This is a Finnish band with a Dutch lead singer singing in English to a German crowd.
Hi. Best reaction to this song ever!
You feel the floorgasm!
Greets from Germany!
Take care!
Great reaction, welcome to the Nightwish and Floor addiction...
Well, it is nice to see people discovering Nightwish. You expressed PERFECTLY my own reaction, all by myself, away from home ! They are from Finland, this concert was in Wacken -Germany ! The band is still the same and they will come up with another record on April 11th. Don't miss it !
That is April 10th.... :)
Great reaction guys 👏🏻
The Nightwish army are on the way!
Her name is Floor Jansen & she is for me, the best there is 🤘🏻
The singer is Dutch, she' s from the town I was born.
Well keep on keeping on
Poet and the pendulum live with lyrics ... Will bring you to tears .
There's a documentary on TH-cam about this, "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours."
There's a ton of songs out there from Nightwish with their discography being well over 100 songs.
Enjoy!
You can sate your desire for more by reacting to the entire Wacken 2013 concert. Every song is great.
Radio & TV embargo, "not made here" syndrome :)
The pandemic, lockdown and TH-cam changed all that.
Thanks, great reaction! "Storytime" or "Last Ride of the Day" same show. Enjoy the ride guys... 🤘🤘
If you like Pink Floyd, Nightwish did a tribute / cover of High Hopes in 2005, which is great to see.
Nice order for begginers
We will consider them. I can’t wait for the next one ! - F
@@fatherandsonreactions Followed by 5) "Shudder Before The Beautiful (Live @Wembley Arena 2015." ;)
Great reaction guys! Infectious energy for my fav NW performance and queen rock goddess Floor Jansen.
Glad you liked it. Other bands like NW?
Within Temptation, Delain, Epica ... probably even Two Steps From Hell to some degree.
There's literally music like this for years in Europe.
So nice to see two generations listen the same music :-)))
Hi Ian , we will absolutely be checking out more Nightwish ! - F
