I have listened to this song maybe over 100 times and I cry every time. The way he makes you feel the story. I was a London (met) Police officer and have seen the cycle of violence play out and it’s a heartbreaking reality. Young men/boys like screech deal with their own trauma often through aggressiveness and violence as not to appear weak whilst girls fall into self inflicted harm, and make themselves often smaller to avoid violence, and this is reflected in both generations. Sadly unless some one breaks the cycles they have a habit of repeating
Ren read a story about a boy of 14 stabing a sex worker and the questions he asked himself about how such a thing could happen . From the answers his imagination provided he created the tales . Jenny's tale seems sparce but it is only after hearing the tales of her brother and mother can you understand Jenny. Her history and motivation are told silently between the lines . Jenny has fallen through the foster system cracks and at 14 walks the streets in high heels too tired to be scared. Jenny has inherited her mothers trauma responses and survival tactics and is totally incapable of defending herself from her brother who had taken his survival tactics from his father who answered all his problems with violence and anger . Rens tales is the very best explanation of the horror of generational trauma . As a victim of D.V. I have found great solace in the reactions I have seen to these songs . Watching big men cry at Violets tale has somehow cured my brused and broken heart .The conversations that have been started around this trio of songs are amazing as people tell their own stories often about what it has been like to grow up in abusive family's. Ren has created all sorts of conversations around so many sensitive subjects ,sus;de .medication abuse and depression. He never backs away from the taboo or sensitive subjects and these conversation starters have been the beginning of an ongoing discussion in which your tears, sensitive remarks and emotive singing have been a great contribution. Thank you for your reaction ❤
This is such a great summary. I think the most obvious theme is the generational trauma, but so few reactors catch how Jenny takes after Violet, freezing and staying silent when under violence (something Jenny doesn't seem to know she does, where Violet had the history with her father) and Screech takes after Stevie, with his violent tendencies and inability tocontrol his emotions.
Love the rawly emotional and technicaly in-depth viewing of the story, and your beautiful accompanying at the end definitely earned my subscription 🎉. I really hope Ren gets to see this.
@@genevievec.8002 Also, Violet's name is so close to Violent to capitalize on generational trauma and violence. I don't think Steve was Jenny's father, i think Violet's father was. I've watched a lot of great reactions to Ren's videos, but this... this is next-level stuff. An opera singer improvising a melody to a song she's only just heard?

Great reaction, Nicole. I've watched this video over 100 times through various reactor channels and I still get emotional every time. What's funny is that I used to think reaction videos were dumb; it turns out that none of the content I was watching people react to was important to me. A 53 yr old and Hi Ren as me in tears. Partner is a lot younger than me and was abused by her first bf between 14-16 and suffered one final beating fracturing her eye socket. She listens to Violets tale she cry’s that could have been her and in the end empowers her that she survived. Best first listen review I’ve seen about Ren. Take care love ❤❤

Take care mate. 48yo and my wife has been abused by just about every partner before me. Rens songs help me understand some of the struggles she and so many others face.
I have watched hundreds of reactions to Ren and dozens to this song specifically. I LOVE THIS REACTION!!! We are able to see the moment in which the emotion of his words hits you and it is obvious by your reaction you understand what he is saying and have a heart of gold! Subscribed and eagerly awaiting more!
Great reaction! I've seen the tales probably thousands of times and thought I was hardened to them but you managed to get me cutting onions again!! Loved the accompanying vocals too.
i have listened to literally hundreds of ren reactions by this point so it is lovely to get something completely different.... these reviews really add value to the slightly saturated review content - thanks very much - loved the hi ren one too.... ren has completely changed my life - your emotions speak volumes - keep it real like ren :)
I may be a dissenting opinion (there are SO many incredible Ren songs) but I think you deserve one of his fun songs next! He recently did a cover of Back on 74/Message in a bottle that is phenomenal :) And omg…your singing at the end was INCREDIBLE! I can’t wait to see what you do with future Ren/Chinchilla songs!!!!
I'm a total mess over here. Not only was your reaction heartfelt...and then your voice you singing tipped me over, totally. Hauntingly & beautifully. Thank you! Saludos 💚✌️
Yeah…nobody is ready for the tales the first time they hear them. The shock, the amazement, the tears, the awe, the wonder, the shivers. Welcome to the rabbit hole Nicole
Just like HI REN this entire music video was filmed live with a lapel microphone and another microphone on his guitar and one camera and each segment of the story was done in one single take which again makes these videos so much more amazing. I want to note that Sam is so amazing with the camera. He certainly has an eye for detail drama and suspense. On a sidenote at the beginning of this song normally I hate mouth trumpets but Ren pulls it off like a legend.
The moment when Ren sings up into the stairwell in Violet's Tale is my absolute favorite example of how Ren uses the acoustics of the environment he's in for amazing effect
The unintentional symbolism of the raindrops falling behind you as the tears fall......just raw emotion. Bravo Nicole! Looking forward to following you on your journey further down the Rabbit Hole
One of the most heartfelt and emotional reactions I've ever witnessed! Even though I've listened to this trilogy many times, it was very hard not to cry when Violet's Tale was ending. Thank you for your reaction and for allowing us to hear your beautiful voice in tandem with Ren's music. It was truly magical!
Absolutely phenomenal. Thank you for showing us such a raw reaction, and for lending your incredible vocals to Ren's masterpiece. Didn't realize it was possible to elevate it, but you certainly succeeded in doing so.
Your reaction just.... wow! My protective instinct really kicked in as you broke down at the end, just wanted to reach through the screen and put an arm around you! Thank you for your genuine and heartfelt reaction :)
im new to your channel and im loving your take on Rens music so far! your vocals at the end are just beautiful and to me the additional of it on Jennys and Screechs Tales to me sounds like Voilet crying out to her children, watching from beyond! and possibly her grieving what could of been if history hadn't repeated itself!
never a reaction caused this....i cried with you, and because of you, thanks for the gift, its surreal to see a artist feeling and expressing at the same time...
I’m glad you mentioned the RENaissance because I am hoping that his music will conceive the rebirth of meaningful storytelling that will spark the fire in future generations.
nice comment I feel this talent could only have come out of England. He has Shakespeare in his veins. His choice of clothing on the video is modern court jester a true Bard has been born in the 21st century. ❤
And that is why we protect Ren at all costs. We all cried. This song has gotten so many people to share their experiences or get help, and help others to understand a little more.
"You can tell he FEELS..." So do we all when we listen to Ren. Love the reaction. Pro Tip: You have only found the tip of the REN iceberg. There are NO bad Videos. React to them all! You should do the Money Game trilogy next - you can do those one at a time.
There was a news paper article about a Prostitute being murdered by a Teen boy in London, which was the inspiration for Ren to right this trilogy, each one was recorded 1 year apart.. Jenny's Tale was released in 2019, Violet died in Two Zero Zero Five (2005), which makes Jenny and Screech 14 year olds. "It's such a shame" is so big in the song because that was the quote at the end of the article in the paper.. Jenny was 14 years old and a working girl on the streets of London, when she met Screech she froze and kept quiet just like Violet did when Stevie was abusing her. Screech was quick to rage just as his father Stevie was.. A tale of generational abuse and trauma wrapped up in a Bardcore Tale.
Wow, thank you so much for this reaction! As part of the Renegade community, I've seen many reactions, but I've never seen anyone on TH-cam show such strong emotions. I find it truly amazing how you don’t hide your feelings behind the camera or cut them out. That’s something really special, and it allowed me to fully connect with you and experience this masterpiece in a completely new way. Thank you! This video reminded me once again how unique Ren's art is and how powerfully he captivates people through his storytelling. Every time I hear this Tale something happens to me. Also, thank you for that wonderful surprise at the end. What an incredible voice paired with an incredible song. I hope Ren sees this. I know he will appreciate it even more than I do. Oh, and have fun in the Ren rabbit hole!
The surprise ending... Oh my word!!! You gave me chills so many times. Your voice... you made the story even more dramatic, though I wouldn't have thought it possible. Beautiful!!!
Subscription earned!!! I love hearing people discover rens story telling, it hits everybody different but It hits them dead centre. I’ve never wept to a reactor before
Ren is a modern day bard painting such vivid imagery with his storytelling that it pulls you in and forces you to keep watching - even when it gets physically uncomfortable during Violet’s Tale. And Ren uses this ability to shed light on far too real issues in the world. Ren is special. And no one is ready for it…
The way it is narrated we the audience at times BECOME Jenny, Screech, Officer Richard, Violet, and the Doctor. Having moments of empathy for them all even Screech.
OK, Now surely NOBODY can dispute that Nicole is the BEST Ren reactor EVER. She sooooo gets Ren from the get-go.....!!!!! PLEASE PLEASE NICOLE, jump in with both feet into the Ren rabbit hole. I'm so waiting to watch you experience the variety of joys..!! ❤❤❤❤
I not sure about BEST because each reactor brings their own unique perspective. But I like the word Beyond. Simply Beyond. We found someone who actually enhanced three of REN’s 3 Tales which are Masterpieces by themselves. But we add her artistic vocal. And well… we all experienced it if we watch her whole reaction / analysis / and then performance. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤
I am so glad that I watched your reaction alone. Because your tears made me have tears. I’m 47 and a male veteran. Probably shouldn’t admit that on here. Great reaction I felt your emotion. Awesome job.
The knick-knack paddywhack reference is from an old English nursery rhyme "This Old Man". This old man, he played one, He played knick-knack on his drum. With a knick-knack paddywhack, Give a dog a bone. This old man came rolling home.
Your voice enhanced every emotion and enriched the entire experience, which I would have not believed possible before. It's like you gave voice to all of us crying to this music every time we hear it. Thank you.
Your reaction is magical. With a Ren-like pendulum. The wisdom and love of the voice &. music. The beauty and pain of your emotive expression. how you swing between both seamlessly. This video is as much art as REN’s song. Please do For Joe.
You need to check out Chinchilla. The song Fingers Live version, just because you mentioned having to hold your keys in your fingers. You'll know the connection once you've watched it. Great reactions!
WOW WOW WOW! I was completely blown away by this video. I like to watch reaction videos of Ren songs and at first I thought this was just a good reaction but you adding your own voice to the song at the end was super cool. I’ll definitely be watching again.
As you mentioned 'Keys in your fingers' i think you would enjoy - 'Chincilla-Fingers 'Live for Hunger TV' You will see why if you react to this song. She is also someone Ren refers to as 'Sista from another Mista' if you need a push :DD When you hear their songs together i believe you will explode..Chalk Outlines and How to be Me in particular :D There is a Chemistry between these two that is very rare imo, Love them
I love your reactions so much. I think you may be my new favorite reactor. Your voice added such a haunting quality. Thoroughly enjoyed this. Thank you.
Great reaction again, this one had me in a state when i got to the end of Violets tale and im a middle aged oldie, and to be honest devoid of any emotion for decades, but then he hits you with those powerful heart wrenching lyrics it was like the hard outer shell was stripped bare and the emotions freed to flood out, that the power REN's music has and long may it continue
I sing along through all three word for word. Ren is genius. It always takes my breath away. Born in 2005. Both 14 when they die. 2019. How does he do this?! Wow…. your accompanying vocal through 1&2 feels like Violet’s pain watching her twins die from beyond.
Love the reaction. I'll put in a vote for Back on 74/Message in a bottle Retake, so you can get some more singing and variety. But, honestly, you can just spin a Wheel of Ren and leave it up to chance. Everything is great and everything is new and surprising.
First of all, great responses from you. I came across your channel through Ren and I really like the way you combine technical knowledge with your own impressions and feelings. As far as music is concerned, I am a pure consumer but very interested in finding out ‘how’ the magic actually works. Especially with the Story of Jenny & Screech triology, I suffer every time a new reactor watches it for the first time. The first time it hit me like a hammer blow, right in the face and that's one of the reasons why I like Ren so much. He moves me. He makes me laugh, he makes me cry, he makes me smile, he makes me think about the world itself. There is so much hope in his music, but also so much abyss and sometimes just fun. We all know about social issues such as domestic violence, poverty and the pull it creates. We know that it all exists, but as long as it doesn't affect us, we often close our eyes to reality and even when it does affect us, we find ways not to deal with it. Ren is an absolute specialist when it comes to telling a story that simultaneously holds a mirror up to your face. But now it might be time to react to one of his more hopeful pieces ;). I'm really looking forward to hearing you explain more music to me.
I think Jenny is based on a news article of a true event, screech I think is his him making sense of the other side of the story, and violet he wrote a few years later to round the story off. Love your reaction and your singing at the end :)
No, they were all written years apart. Jenny's Tale was on his Love Music demo compilation from early 2015. But they didn't shoot a video for it until 2019.
Correct! The concept arose from a newspaper article about a 14 year old school boy who was stabbed to death outside his school, which is ( or rather was) a rare event at the time.

So sorry about your partner thank you for sharing that must be heartbreaking.
@@s2kkev292 thank you it was hard and after a few weeks she told me she wanted to foster and we have 3 foster daughters that have suffered abuse. Seeing them in a loving household makes her happy living with our own 8 year old daughter
Take care mate. 48yo and my wife has been abused by just about every partner before me. Rens songs help me understand some of the struggles she and so many others face.
RENEGADES HOW DO WE GET THAT TO REN??? THAT WAS AMAZING!
RIGHT!
That's what I was thinking.
I think you can send him vids in his discord. I’m not sure how it works though.
@@theWall1994 I've never even been on Discord LOL
That was so good what she did at the end, he would love that!
Never apologize for pausing and actually giving an analysis.
You are on your way!!I hope Ren sees this. Don’t be surprised if he comments! He loves reactors!!!
First video I've ever seen of yours. You are amazing Nikoletta.
wow thank you:)
I'll say it again... we're getting Charasmatic Voice and Knox Hill, in one reactor!!!
Awesome!!!!
And I'll agree with you once again, lol..!!
With just a dash of Elizabeth's Aussie friend Julia Nilon as well. 🙂
The duets with Chinchilla will change your life. And then so much more. And once you realize most of his videos are one-take life performances...
Great reaction!
I've seen the tales probably thousands of times and thought I was hardened to them but you managed to get me cutting onions again!!
Loved the accompanying vocals too.
Ren would LOVE to see this reaction❤. YOU, my dear, are a 💎 gem. So happy to find your channel. 😊
I was crying watching you crying. 😢😢😢😢😢
This was special, thank you so much for the surprise at the end ❤ so beautiful ❤
Nicole did the same with her Hi Ren reaction too. Also amazing 😊
i have listened to literally hundreds of ren reactions by this point so it is lovely to get something completely different.... these reviews really add value to the slightly saturated review content - thanks very much - loved the hi ren one too.... ren has completely changed my life - your emotions speak volumes - keep it real like ren :)
I may be a dissenting opinion (there are SO many incredible Ren songs) but I think you deserve one of his fun songs next! He recently did a cover of Back on 74/Message in a bottle that is phenomenal :)
And omg…your singing at the end was INCREDIBLE! I can’t wait to see what you do with future Ren/Chinchilla songs!!!!
I just saw your comment and essentially said the same thing (minus the Ren/Chinchilla part).
I was thinking the same. Ren can break hearts, but also have a lot of fun. Personally I love his Fisher Retake when I need to lighten the mood xD
The end of your video was beautiful, I think even Ren would be impressed. You have a beautiful voice, and I loved your reaction to this song
I'm a total mess over here. Not only was your reaction heartfelt...and then your voice you singing tipped me over, totally. Hauntingly & beautifully.
Thank you!
Saludos 💚✌️
Incredible reaction, your vocals at the end added such an amazing layer to REN’s performance!
Love how your face emotes joy followed by serenity whenever you hear musical parts that resonate with your soul!
@11:21
Yeah…nobody is ready for the tales the first time they hear them. The shock, the amazement, the tears, the awe, the wonder, the shivers. Welcome to the rabbit hole Nicole
The greatest thing is you are still scratching at the surface of his amazing tallents. Look forward to you continuing to be amazed!
ive watched countless reactions to this song and yours is by far the best one!!!!
First time watching your reaction. Kept watching because of interesting commentary and then you hit me with this vocal interpretation!
The operatic singing you did towards the end of this video,,, I just hope Ren gets to see this. It sided another level to the story. Truly amazing!
You made me cry again
I cry every time I listen now. you aren't alone!
"Back on 74'/Message in a bottle retake" for a Ren song you can just have fun with and not be taken on an emotional rollercoaster.
Great suggestion
That is an excellent suggestion 💜
One of the most heartfelt and emotional reactions I've ever witnessed! Even though I've listened to this trilogy many times, it was very hard not to cry when Violet's Tale was ending. Thank you for your reaction and for allowing us to hear your beautiful voice in tandem with Ren's music. It was truly magical!
I could not agree more
Harry Mack does a tribute to Ren and it's amazing, it's on Ren's other TH-cam channel called ren makes stuff 😊
Even more amazing, was he did it at RikaShae's request, before even metting Ren.
Absolutely phenomenal. Thank you for showing us such a raw reaction, and for lending your incredible vocals to Ren's masterpiece. Didn't realize it was possible to elevate it, but you certainly succeeded in doing so.
I agree, its like it belongs with the song now!
Your reaction just.... wow! My protective instinct really kicked in as you broke down at the end, just wanted to reach through the screen and put an arm around you! Thank you for your genuine and heartfelt reaction :)
im new to your channel and im loving your take on Rens music so far! your vocals at the end are just beautiful and to me the additional of it on Jennys and Screechs Tales to me sounds like Voilet crying out to her children, watching from beyond! and possibly her grieving what could of been if history hadn't repeated itself!
never a reaction caused this....i cried with you, and because of you, thanks for the gift, its surreal to see a artist feeling and expressing at the same time...
didnt u realize it's a fake reaction?
@ the only thing fake around here is your interpretation of her reaction. Nikoletta is as real as it gets.
@@s2kkev292 shut up simpleton
Loved your haunting, soaring additions to this masterpiece.
Glad you enjoyed it!
At 7:45 ... You're gonna LOVE. Chinchilla (Rens Sister from another mother!) ... her song Little Girl Gone in Particular!!!!
Requiem version.
This channel in particular should do the Requiem live version.
Fingers Live. I need to see this reaction.
So why don’t you explain exactly what that means and what it entails?
9:10 when Nikoletta looks at the screen i can feel her emotions! absolutely stellar
"You can tell he FEELS..."
So do we all when we listen to Ren. Love the reaction. Pro Tip: You have only found the tip of the REN iceberg. There are NO bad Videos. React to them all!
You should do the Money Game trilogy next - you can do those one at a time.
Normally I don't comment on videos but this reaction was the best one I have seen yet to this day.
A tale of generational abuse and trauma wrapped up in a Bardcore Tale.
wrong!
And no one is ready for it…
Incredible, the chills don't stop after @35:01
The way it is narrated we the audience at times BECOME Jenny, Screech, Officer Richard, Violet, and the Doctor.
Having moments of empathy for them all even Screech.
This. This makes the storytelling so powerful.
watching the rain in the window behind her slowly get worse as the jenny and screech story progresses adds so much to the feeling of this reaction
So true, perfect timing
Nicole, I believe that @renlovesmusic would be fascinated by you and your talent. You are amazing, and I adore you.
Oh, and Harry Mac has a tribute to Ren, that is amazing.
I think so as well, hopefully Ren sees her soon enough!
Can you imagine these 2 collaborating together? It would be so amazing.
@@mariachaful oh yes I can! I feel like its just a matter of time now, it WILL happen 😁
What a beautiful reaction, person and voice! You're amazing. Subscribed for sure!
No question! Just beacuase of her Ren reactions I subscribed her channel. She´s gorgeous
@@Jason_xofilos You're not wrong......! Truth be told, I'm currently very biased toward the adorable Nicole right now, what can I say. 😁🥰
She is incredible and I pray 🙏 Ren and his team will see this 😢😢👏👏☺️☺️☺️ Nicole you are BRILLIANT 😇😇🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
@@MickeyDJ1Ren needs to see this because it’s actually pretty beautiful 🤩😇🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻Angelic vocals 🔥🔥🔥💥💥💥💥
I am so glad that I watched your reaction alone. Because your tears made me have tears. I’m 47 and a male veteran. Probably shouldn’t admit that on here. Great reaction I felt your emotion. Awesome job.
The Renegades love to watch 1st time reactions to this, you must suffer as we have suffered :P
Great review! I didnt think it was possibble but your singing with it at the end added another layer to it, amazing!
The knick-knack paddywhack reference is from an old English nursery rhyme "This Old Man".
This old man, he played one,
He played knick-knack on his drum.
With a knick-knack paddywhack,
Give a dog a bone.
This old man came rolling home.
It reminded me of a song by Korn where he also sings that line.
Your voice enhanced every emotion and enriched the entire experience, which I would have not believed possible before. It's like you gave voice to all of us crying to this music every time we hear it. Thank you.
We need a Ren wheel please!😊✌🏼🫶🏼🌮
Minute 42:00 - "Mum, are you O.K.?" - We all need a supportive cat :-)
She is also someone Ren refers to as 'Sista from another Mista' if you need a push :DD When you hear their songs together i believe you will explode..Chalk Outlines and How to be Me in particular :D There is a Chemistry between these two that is very rare imo, Love them
Yea, had to think of "put your keys in your knuckles like I have to" as well 😀❤
Chincilla - Fingers 'Live for Hunger TV' is a banger. 👍
Another vote here for Fingers live. Actual goosebumps everytime x
I love your reactions so much. I think you may be my new favorite reactor. Your voice added such a haunting quality. Thoroughly enjoyed this. Thank you.
you adding your vocals to the songs was amazing!
The emotional power behind ren is amazing, thank you for appreciating it with all of us.
Nicole adds value like no other 😊 analysis, involvement, emotion and amazing vocal additions. So fantastic!
You got to listen to "moneygame" 1, 2 and 3 by ren, thats definetly my favourite trilogy from him.
I sing along through all three word for word. Ren is genius.
It always takes my breath away.
Born in 2005. Both 14 when they die.
2019. How does he do this?!
Wow…. your accompanying vocal through 1&2 feels like Violet’s pain watching her twins die from beyond.
That song you were thinking of - God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
This is for the surprise at the end. You're so incredible, Nicole!
RENegades - let's boost her subs!!
🤍
WOW thank you so much 😊🙏🏻
Ren is the return of the troubadour, the minstrel, the lyrical storyteller that we all need. Creating epics from everyday experiences.
Bardcore is what the kids are calling it 🎉 hard-core meets Bard
I believe he said that all three parts were written together. It's only the video release for Violet's Tale that was delayed.
No, they were all written years apart. Jenny's Tale was on his Love Music demo compilation from early 2015. But they didn't shoot a video for it until 2019.
Correct! The concept arose from a newspaper article about a 14 year old school boy who was stabbed to death outside his school, which is ( or rather was) a rare event at the time.
your singing voice is so haunting aswell, you did a really good job! totally worth the subscribe ^^
