I actually had to reupload this since I forgot to chop off the music excess at the end. TH-cam takes like 30 seconds to process my video on upload but trimming it takes like 3 hours. Eek.
I honestly don't know where else can I ask this, but apparently shield of cthulhu gives s when you bonk into enemies, so when I bonk into duke fishron in the last phase there seems to be a chance to negate damage completely and it happens 2/3 of times I try that, why so? is that a timing thing and a skill issue?
I remember back when the destroyer would spawn in a clump off screen instead of spawning one segment at a time, and I would race to the clump with my adamantine glaive to deal massive damage by piercing all the segments at once. I realize this is barely relevant.
This is why certain attacks, such as the Moon Lord's attacks, have their own immunity frames which prevent other attacks, such as being holed up with a ton of green slimes, from giving you immunity to say, Moon Lord's Phantasmal Ray.
And this it's why Brain of Confusion it's so good, you can add that dodge to other dodging accessories and the Star Necklace for ridiculous inmunities from time to time.
i prefer brain, but it really depends on your playstyle (i.e, tank the hit vs dodge the attack). if you're going for high defense and DR then worm scarf is going to be more meaningful and reliable in that regard. but, if you're a glass cannon (i.e, summoners and mages), or prefer to not tank at all (or main master mode or legendary mode, where tanking just isn't an option), then brain is the accessory you want. with that said, brain is probably my favorite expert mode accessory now.
Great explanation of the difference between global, static, and local s! Haven't seen a single other good video explaining the topic on TH-cam To add to the Hallowed armor part, stacking Brain of Confusion and Master Ninja Gear / Black Belt is even more powerful than it would seem, as in ADDITIONALLY to the durations stacking, Hallowed armor WONT proc if a dodge procs first, meaning a 25% chance to dodge also improves Holy Dodge proportionally. This was especially broken before 1.4.4 where it worked on the Empress of Light, but is still one of the best strategies for general Hardcore runs. It's one of the few areas where the Brain of Confusion is flat out better than the Worm Scarf.
Personally I think BoC is better then worn scarf. Either reduce all damage taken by 17% (and get hit 100% of time or only get hit by 83% of attacks. (But at full dmg)
finally, a video breaking down all types made by a actual youtuber, s in terraria are probably the most misunderstood part of the game, thank you for covering this!!!
Informative and interesting trivia, a good video. As a loyal fan I would like to ask for a comprehensive report video on the old ones army, as I don't fully understand it despite having battled it a few times. 👍
Do you mean in terms of gameplay or lore? because the old one's army is part of a crossover event with another game. I think it was called Dungeon Defenders 2 or something along those lines?
NOOOO I was going to do this as an epic comeback video when I got back I am cryintg This is a really good video to explain the basics of s, gg on such good content
Immunity frames are the perfect counterpoint to people claiming tanking isn't viable. Like, paired with other survival stats and the right setup, you can literally go idle and still defeat moon lord with maximized dodge chance.
This is actually useful thank you I’m planning a no immunity frames playthrough and I’m trying to figure out what weapons would be great and understanding what changed helps
"So it is much more ideal to use slower and higher-damaging weapons in PVP" To be fair, the same can be said for singleplayer. Most high-damage-per-shot weapons deal more comparative DPS than their low-damage, high-fire rate contemporaries, especially because they benefit more from damage boosts.
That is not true, high damage per shot weapons scale roughly about as much as low damage per shot weapons, really the only factor is defense which gets blown out by ichor instantly anyways Its really just upto defense of the enemy in question and the actual dps of the weapons being compared
In summary GLOBAL FRAMES - can give enemies i-frames thus they can block other attacks, a perfect example is the infamous Stardust Dragon, (when paired with other weapons), whenever the dragon is attacking an enemy it gives them an “I-frame” which means your attacks can be avoided, because they share an i-frame with everything globally therefore affecting other weapons. (this is is pre 1.4.0) STATIC FRAMES - similar to the “Global Frames”, but only on its own weapon/projectile, like the Death sickle can also give “i-frames” to enemies, but only to that specific projectile, so spamming the Projectile in an enemy they will still receive a number amount of maxed ticks because they are sharing an i-frame LOCAL FRAMES - This will still give “I-frames” the only difference is EACH projectile has a “Local Frame” which means even if they receive an i-frame on that “specific projectile” they will still receive the hit on “another specific projectile” basically every projectile gives i-frames only unto each and one locally, and not sharing.
i know i-frames are different for damage sources that deal exactly 1 damage (whether because of defense or just because that's the natural damage value). are there any interesting notes there? i'd like to understand it better
@@Skyymon Master Mode but yeah I kinda understand what you mean... but its just certain weapons that works anyway... and low damage weapons still deal low damage =P

it still is like that
And piercing attacks are still effective due to worms being worms

I read the patch notes for 1.4.4 and saw all the immunity changes but had no idea what they meant. Now I do, thank you for the concise explanation!
I'd love a followup video talking about how summons were messed up with i-frames, and which ones got fixed in 1.4.4!
before 1.4.4 only sharknado contact still dealt global, now all deal static and local
