Thank you for the transparency brutha. As a smaller creator I feel I’m punching up and fighting for budgets to produce better content. Most of my sponsored videos I’m barely making money on after investing into the video. But I’ve gotten a couple larger one off sponsors that have helped the overall year. Hopefully budget will increase overall tho, otherwise the quality I’m pursuing won’t be sustainable. So transparency like this helps other creators know where to position and value themselves at.
As an up and coming tech TH-camr(not this channel) it’s nice to hear about the business side. A lot of people don’t talk about it. I guess one question I’d ask is, how/when should you go about reaching out to brands. What kind of metrics should you show? How much should you charge? Should you take free products from brands you want to work with in order to build a relationship with them?
I’m a smaller of small creators here on this platform and just started to get brand deals which I’m grateful for. I love making videos on this platform it has actually taught me a handful of things. My buddy sent me this video and I’m glad he did. Keep doing what you love doing! Thank you for this.
Mate I’ve been doing it for 7 years and am failing dismally but funny enough it has helped me be a better Dad. Recording a video about that literally as I type this 😎 thanks for all that you do, including your battery pack :)!
Hey Peter, great breakdown, it is all about creating value, as a person or as a company. the more value you create the more you gain. we measure everyone and everything with Value ( Value = Worth) you have created so much value for you and your company. Now companies see your value and reach out to you. while enjoying what you do. you are winning mate. cheers
Hey Peter, this is an awesome breakdown and something I think a lot of newer creators need to hear. Everyone think you get monetized and start making 6 figures from ad revenue which just isn't the case. Its all about the relationships you build with sponsors and brands, and developing your own products. Its a long hard road but the emotional reward of building something yourself is incredible
I really really appreciate how freely you are talking to us especially about your income that most people consider it as a private data not for share. I really always watch your useful videos, but I haven't gotten any better coz I'm lazy. BUT, this video hits me a way different. Thanks a lot for your effort.
Thanks for the insight. I would love to learn more about business structure-and I'm also curious how well it will translate between our different countries.
I remember finding your video years back in your earlier days. I think I was now thinking of getting a camera to practice filmmaking. I don't even remember what the video was that I clicked on lol but I subscribed because you always seemed so genuine. To this day you're still the same and I'm really happy your business grew so to where it is now. Keep doing great things. I only hope to reach your level one day. I started my TH-cam channel months ago, not this one, and I got monetized in February. Hoping my future on TH-cam is good to me🤞🏽
I would love to see your business structure, I am curious about the pros and cons between your initial sole proprietorship and the current form you got going. This was a fun video❤
MATE !!! so good. I would, if you may make a video on ...not your business structure but more on how you split your time on each part since you do everything. I struggle on where to allocate time vs what pays off (in time contact and money). Cheers !
Hey Peter! I'm lucky that on my job I can keep things fresh. It's 3 years since everything took off and i could live well of my earnings. I am am making videos and I do everything myself, similar to the ones you would do, yesterday it was a documentary on local wine producers, today it was this new foiling boat, next week 3 concerts, in a months we'll start filming a series on classic cars. I feel blessed that I'm not locked into a single niece. If you ever come again to north Italy we can have a go together at filming some racing sailboats.
Thanks for this video Peter. I know most people would have a TH-camr you would like to meet. Peter M... Etc. In my case it would be you. Man, you even made a gardening video interesting on the Vlog channel!
"Keep doing the fun videos"! 👏Denna video made absolute sense Peter! Ser fram emot fler inom samma ämne framöver om du bestämmer dig för att göra det 🙂
The Business side of things is inspiring and informative so videos about this topic are interesting! Due to ze German law weirdness it’s not possible to have affiliate links as a private person so I’m at the crossroads to set up a company or ditch the links and so on and so forth. I bought the tri-charge and made a review of it but it wasn’t good enough quality (my review, the tri-charge is excellent quality!) but I have a couple of wishes for the v2 like a little latch so that the battieries wont fly out with a gentle tap. I could almost say that I’m the first person who has used an electric locomotive to run the tri-charge 😂
Thank you very much for the insight. This is very helpful. As much so that I need to watch it again without the soldering iron in the stack of my drone.
Hi Peter, I'm close to launching my own TH-cam channel this year and I'm so glad that I found you. I've followed your recommendations and because of that I feel a good sense of confidants that I I'll get off to a decent start. Thank you Peter for all that you do and share 👍👍
Thanks for video, Peter! Yes please, make a video on how you organized your business. Also how you managed to go from one man band to hire help to expand. One can’t do everything oneself.
I love how honest you are Peter! I work 2 jobs and do TH-cam, I make around £20 a month on TH-cam. My goal is to make enough to only work my main job then I can concentrate more on making videos. Seeing how much you earned with the big following makes me realise I have a very long way to go before I can go to 1 job 😢
Adsense is purely based on the amount of views and geolocation. If you get millions of views in India, it would be waaaaaay less than the same in the US for example
Yeah ad revenue on YT is only a nice-to-have anymore for very most creators. Times have changed! Content overload is happening everywhere and big reach has become harder to sustain than ever. So ad revenue is pretty nice but if one runs YT for business you need other income streams aswell. Branded content. Brand partnerships. second customer per video which should be a local business that pays you for the production. I also think merch isn’t the way. And real events with ticket sales are also a huge opportunity. Think about your own music festival, Peter!
anledningen att jag startade min kanal var att försöka få in mer kunder till mitt lasergraverings företag så man inte går i KK, men det har helt klart blivit en stor nyfunnen hobby att filma och redigera mina äventyr!
i have my youtube channel for a few years, slowly start to move, this video was awesome to watch, if you can I will love a video explaining the business in more details, since I'm currently living in sweden, will be very helpful, I'm not making money with youtube, so it will be good to be ready for it, thank you so much for all the info
Thanks for sharing this with your audience. Very interesting to get an insight about youtube monetization. Happy to hear you doing great with your own products. Wished Tri-charger worked with Black Magic Design batteries 😇. One of my goals has always been to make a profit from filmmaking/youtube etc. Money that I can use to get new cameragear, pay for musiclicenses, effects etc so that I dont have to use money that I earn from my day to day job. Its an expensive hobby. But hey Im having fun doing it and thats what matters.
Thanks for the video, very interesting! Do you feel like something is going on with your channel though? You've got 600+k subs but on average get around 10K views per video in the last few months. Your thumbs are on point, your videos well made and interesting(I find). What gives?

Cam, your stuff is not only inspiring but I have mentioned I'd be so willing to take a master class from you. Just to learn how to get to your level.
I appreciate you being so open, transparent, and willing to share man!
We all have to learn from someone!

Been working on my TH-cam stuff for over ten years now. While I’m not making money from it yet. I’m still having a blast doing it.
It sure is fun!
@@PeterLindgren1 Yup I’d be doing this for free like I am right now. Even if there wasn’t a chance I’d make money from doing it in the future. Lol

Very awesome of you to share those details. Thanks man. ✌️❤️ I appreciate the chance at being able to peek behind the scenes.

I appreciate the insights, Thanks Peter.
I’ve started. Stopped. Started. Stopped. I’ve seen small successes on my channel, but consistency is the hardest part for me personally.
I’d say sit down and make a few videos so that way you have a buffer. That’s what I started doing(not this channel) and it helps a lot.
Thank you for this video, Let me keep uploading content however hard it gets I know one day it will work out.
