I have tried to learn it, it is ridiculously hard. And Valentina plays it fast and smooth, almost impossible. To know how hard a song is, you must try to learn it your self.
The music is beautiful, the performance superb and many in the audience are extremely rude. She deserves much better, and they definitely do not deserve her.
Valentin a deserves a standing ovation..Either this audience is a little deadbeat or they are si awestruck they can't move. If I had been in that au xxx lands I assure you I would have been partially paralyzed w/ mouth agape. Valentine is a bright light, she knows her stuff, she commanders that piano. Her Warsaw Concerto is amazing. Beethoven's Moonlight Sera made is dynomite. Valentine is DYNOMITE.
The crowd seemed oddly unimpressed. How one could witness the 2nd half of this piece performed right in front of them without even cracking a smile seems strange to me. Fuckingamazing!
They were obviously bored on the first half, and when the incredible pianistics came on the second half, they just felt guilty for judging the piece too soon so they didn't let their admiration show, but there were certainly people who were impressed, except that WOMAN IN BEIGE BETWEEN A FATHER AND HIS SON. I don't know what her deal is, she looked pissed off the entire time.
Valentina is a masterpiece itself. Everything she puts her hands on will turn into gold. Does NOT matter the piano she is playing, it WILL always sound a masterpiece.
I just listened Val in a live concert in Buenos Aires, my city. She played this rhapsody as an encore...... You can't judge a pianist if you didn't listen live...... It was overwhelming, phenomenal, even with the same problems. She is a pro, and that is enough for me.
kaleidoscopio5 but you can judge a pianist if you’ve heard their interpretations so much you know their style, this is not her at all, it’s sad to listen to this performance, but as a musician I do know that everyone has bad days, and even the smallest thing can affect a performance

Ah Valentina, you are far too good for this audience. When I was a child I sat on the stage a few feet from Artur Rubenstein at one of his concerts in Melbourne. I really was too young to appreciate my good fortune. I think some of the kids here don't know how lucky they are to be able to see you play in person.
When I play this piece I nearly fall off the piano bench. I need a damn seatbelt. Valentine sits & plays it w/out breaking a sweat. L. O. L. @ myself. Valentine delivers big time performances everywhere she goes. Don't think she ever had a bad day. She's a gem in the piano world. Liszt would have approved.
Valentina, you are always so generous with your time and performances. It's wonderful that you played for this informal situation with an audience including lots of kids, and I'm guessing their parents. Some parents even looked like they didn't really understand the music, but I could see most of the kids were enchanted. Perhaps not the ideal venue for a concert pianist, but I'm sure this is something especially the kids will treasure and never forget.
This was great! I love your attitude to play anywhere for the sake of the music. The young girl playing with her hair eventually stopped to listen. The other young girl trying to look bored couldn't take her eyes off of your hands. They're typical teenagers that you were able to connect with. The lovely woman with the orange scarf was visibly moved and enjoying the music. Bravo Valentina! 👏

While everyone is hating on the crowd, I give them the benefit of the doubt. I just think most aren't musicians and some are kids so their understanding and patience is not there for these type of music especially for the slow beginning. You can definitely see some of them have a reaction at certain points during the second half.

I am always just blown away by Valentina Lisitsa's performances - whether it's in a huge concert hall, a smaller audience like this or at an old rotten piano in a busy airport. She is one of the few musicians I've ever heard who knows the real meaning of dynamics.

It's not easy, you must be tuned to hear it, to let it into your soul, not only ears. She is so lovely being immersed in her music...
So many emotions! I was literally smiling when she was playing the joyful parts and wow, the crowd... Not speaking about them. I would be so gratefull to listen this fabulous playing LIVE! Always heals my soul💙
