Totally works with my primary old Android phone to new iPhone. In my iPhone do not appeared the ellipses icon (0.59'))but anyway maked click in the white space in top rigth corner and show the option 'Link as a companion device'.

If it's a message Don't do anything
If you need to check your linked devices..
Open your whatsapp then click on the main menu (three dots) the choose linked device, if you see any linked device remove it

You do not have allowed to make backup from your secondary device (doesn't show that option), unfortunately. Only can make backup in your primary phone.
