      Electricity is only expensive because the condo management inflates the charges from the utility companies. I've never paid more than 900 baht per month but I pay directly to the electricity authority.

      Thanks so much. Few more years, we'll be approaching our retirement. I'm hoping to pay a scouting trip sometime soon. Anyway, it's exciting, yet anxious. I know that everything will work out, as it always does. It's having the patience to get there. Thanks for your help.

    Can you "translate" $430 USD from 2013 for a furnished 2BR/1BA + dining room (~1000 sq. ft.) to $xxx USD in 2018 ?? (i know that in the last 5 years of *my* travels in TH, the costs have indeed increased in Bangkok, Phuket Town, Kata, Phang Nga, Coconut Island, Pattaya, Jomtien.... thanks!

      @@thailandretirement3681 I am very interested in retiring there. My husband will be 55 years next August 2020. My business is online but I would need to find a way to be able to use a phone line/number that is is a USA phone #. I talk quite a bit on the phone thru the day and so if I can find a way to do this way then we can retire in Thailand as my clients are online. We just email and text and phone call. Any suggestion?

      thats good to know being that I know chang mai is inland but not much is said about city enviroments in thailand only that they are good cheap places to live.

    • @MrGarnache
      @MrGarnache 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ht3oldnavy That's because they are trying to sell a nonsense story about it being paradise for cheep , if they mentioned the pollution , garbage , soi dogs , loudspeakers . buring fires , flooding , crime , the general delapadated nature of public areas , heat and humidity , rainy season , and so on ..... it would not make for such a nice story to sell some books or websites. :)

      ht3oldnavy It doesn't mean EVERYWHERE is a bad place to live in Thailand ...... it means you have to look 100 times harder than the book seller types make it seem ..... their are plenty of good places to be , but also plenty X2 very crappy places to be :)

    Assuming the docs are ok surely the main problem is the cost of treatment for serious illness in Thailand. I have considered living there and it ticks all the boxes except serious illness and reminds me of how good my country the UK is.

    • @thailandretirement3681
      @thailandretirement3681  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most emotional disturbances are handled by the Temples, though there are psychiatric and neurological hospitals as well.

      Not great. Most people are treated at the temple - which works fine for emotional trauma - and neurological hospitals have some very competent staff, it's hit or miss.
