The song lighthouse is one of my favorites. A little while ago she put out a poetry book where she had a poem called lighthouse, which provides a lot of backstory.
Halsey is the artist that I can identify myself the most with. Is really interesting to see other people that haven't gone through the same traumas that both me and her have gone through interpret the album, there is so much pain, self destructive behavior, pure rage in the aftermath, where and how those man left us after the abuse, how we feel and see the world differently and how things work inside our heads. I recommend listening to the album following the lyrics and having in mind that a big part of it is about abuse, how society has failed with their woman and how that affects us. You'll get a even deeper message than you first realized. This album is a perfect representation of that journey and my tattoo session is already booked because I need that inside my skin.

Both songs talk a lot about Halsey's position in life.

They helped to bring out her confidence and pushed her to be different vs safe and mainstream. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross from Nine Inch Nails produced this album. Halsey always wanted to work with them. They're such a fantastic fit.
