    Genuinely angry but also almost in tears hearing the frustration in her voice while talking about how female artists are criticised for choosing family or career, as if they are mutually exclusive. Even if we are not living the life she is, this is SO relatable. Women can never make a decision society likes

      Yeah and honestly men aren’t asked “how do you balance career and family” because…they don’t. Society just allows them to neglect their families tbh. Every person I know didn’t really have their dad in their life, whereas women have to balance it all or be bashed

    Zane is the one person who has consistently been respectful to her and he lets her lead the conversation how she wants to instead of being a controlling interviewer which is all we know in journalism nowadays so in a way Halsey constantly being disruptive is similar to what he’s doing with his journalism because he doesn’t do this with the thought of gossiping

    • @strawwberryyy
      @strawwberryyy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@bradybunch4278 exactly, I sometimes feel like Zane has a need to really underline how much he thinks he "gets" what the artist was trying to say and then make the artist agree with him even though that might not really be what they intended. also especially when interviewing women and poc it can come across like he's trying to prove how much he "gets" these social issues that affect their lives when like... it was never about him and it feels like he's trying to put the spotlight on his own "wokeness" instead of deeply discussing the actual issues that he/the artist is bringing to the table.

      @@bradybunch4278 it’s not really a junket tho so there’s room for clarification if the artist is not being understood. And that has happened with Zane, a few times. Lady Gaga and Maynard come to mind both.

    zane lowe is so respectful it's actually so relieving. it's like he molded himself to fit halsey & came from a place of respect & admiration because he speaks so genuinely & even when talking about issues like pregnancy, & misogyny in the art & music industry, he literally says "not to put myself in a conversation where i don't have the appropriate knowledge" before continuing. not to praise him for what should be the standard, but it's so relieving to see a conversation flow so freely & comfortably especially when it comes to an artist who has gone through so much harassment & ridicule

By just letting the music and film speak for itself rather than go on a million interviews about it shows her evolution as an artist to put trust in the art and let people decide on their own. That being said, this is without a doubt the best album I've heard in a long time. I listened to it about a dozen times over the weekend and still not bored. Halsey's songwriting is spectacular and the vocals blend perfectly with Trent's sullen, eerie production style.
    Fantastic job 👏 I'd put money on it being album of the year.

      I'm the same. I've been a NIN fan for a little while now and not really much of a pop fan so when I heard about this collaboration, I was a little unsure about what to expect, but turns out the album and film are both amazing!!! Trent and Atticus did an incredible job producing, and ok yeah, I personally don't love all of Halsey's vocals, but the lyrics are brilliant! I'm finding myself leaning towards the more alternate and electronic tracks, oh and Trent's haunting piano pieces always mesmerise me too.
      So proud of all them for taking risks and making such beautiful works of art. Very well done!👏❤️️

    I really need an interview where she talks this amount of time about THE FILM. I watched it yesterday in my country and I'm still shocked, it amazed me in SO MANY levels I can't express.

    Saving this to watch after class. I can't wait. I admire them both so much. Zane is one of the best interviewers working. He does his research and engages on a personal level. H is so eloquent, on top of being so strong, talented and outspoken. This album is thier magnum opus, imo.

    I realize this is essentially a podcast episode, but it's so refreshing to see an interview (with any artist) that's more than a few minutes of highlights, where we can actually spend the time necessary to uncover the deep conversations. This interview is phenomenal, and I'm so happy it exists. "If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power" has quickly become one of my favorite records.
