@@tenshi890 ugh, like that's what parasite eve was at all about XD Sucks they tried cramming that shit in, besides making it about our badass heroine kicking some mitochondric ass, coming across something like "oh some villain is controlling them/releasing them etc" resident evil damnation style, and then having the, I guess love interest coming in to help and having em work together like SOLDIERS, having their moment or two along the way where they try to carry each other through morally. I havent read it though, maybe they tried doing that, I'm not sure lol. It's just how I've tried handling it for my own rpg story. It's such an amateur mistake imo to derail a strong character, making em weak against simple enemies etc so the love interest can come in like a powerhouse to save them and be like, "are you ok?" Etc. Yet having that same character that was just saved stand their ground against a powerful enemy cause plot calls for it.
My favorite game! I play it every winter to recapture the feelings of wonder and excitement of Christmas 1998 when I got a PS1 and PE! PE2 and The Third Birthday were fine in their own right, but the original is one of the most unique gaming experiences I've ever had and I'd love a remaster. Maybe a remake. Felt like too much of a departure from what I loved about the 1st game. Played the 3rd Birthday all the way through but I found the story to be a mess and again there just wasn't anything special about outside of other better 3rd person shooters... I would love to see a remaster of the original.
Legacy of Kain's sequel(s) got turned into a 3d adventure game, much like tomb raider, et. al. for some weird reason. Vagrant Story, IIRC, was just an "Ivalice" spinoff from Final Fantasy Tactics. The guy who came up with the story and setting would later go on to design content for FFXIV for an Ivalice-themed raid in that game.

What they needed to do was find a formula, stick with it, and just make small tweaks and additions but keep things relatively close. So..... lesson..... STOP REINVENTING THE WHEEL IN MID FRANCHISE. If you get a weird idea, DO A SPINOFF. Don't hurt the main franchise with that crap. The same thing would happen if you tried to make an RPG out of Metroid, or if you decided that Call of Duty should be an RPG Tactics game.
A remake would be awesome! I played parasite eve and part 2 several times and loved every minute! I've wondered about this game for years. It had such a creative story, I never understood why they never continued it. But this video clears some of that up for me.
In my view, the second game should’ve been like the first game without being repetitive gameplay wise, the third one...the less said of that the better. If the series stuck with single gameplay, it would’ve been better. As for the reviews of the series, go watch The Smartest Moron. I don’t know if he did a review for the second one, but he did do a review for the first and third one. As for the series, the they should’ve stuck to survival horror with rpg elements.
Its creepy how I was just thinking about these games and how PE2 felt more in the vein of RE2 and PE 1 felt like a true JRPG ( making it my favorite out of the three) the third Birthday just sounds and looks awesome......the music in PE1 is the best though!!
I remember watching the trailer of this game on my Spyro demo disk. It was so creepy and gave my little 2nd-grade self nightmares, but dang I want to play it!
i honestly think for it to grow it would either need to start over with a reboot or pull a RE2 Remake and remake the first game keep the combat and the exploration but take the art style or the 3rd one. it could become something great. i still enjoy the first one. still come back to it. love the combat and the soundtrack. something about the 2nd on i just didn't like but i haven't beaten it yet and because of that i haven't played the 3rd one. in fact this video is the first i had ever seen game play of the 3rd Birthday.
I seem to recall decade ago that they teased some promotional image for PE4 being made exclusively for PS4. I believe this happened just before Sony release their PS4. I was so hyped back then.
This game was just glorious. This was when the original Playstation was on top of the world. And Square released amazing game after amazing game. What happened to Square in general??!! This game has one of the best soundtracks in gaming, period. The second game wasn't nearly as good as the first though, and the 3rd game went a little too far into the action genre. Release an HD port on PS4 if you're not going to make a sequel, Square Enix!
IDK, I like all the games 🤷♂️ But if they are to make a sequel, make it based after 2 because 3rd Birthday feels more like a "What If?", and bring it back to Survival Horror RPG. Leave some of the leveling and tuning mechanics.
I loved the first two and PE2 is probably my favorite game ever, everything about it was magical and satisfying... did people really think it was a bad game? wtf I'd love a sequel to PE2, and I mean a proper one, not the barely related to the mithocondria plot stuff we got in the third birthday, it feels like an entirely unrelated game with aya hoeshorned in for no reason
Parasite eve was a thousand times better than resident evil and only Clocktower 2 was the scariest of them all and only during the house, hospital place or whatever got lame. The music was on point, the tank controls was part of the genre fun/challenge that made it intense with each camera change. And for a game with no voices it was still enjoyable.
Although originally Square lost the rights to the title Parasite Eve, which is why they had to change the name to The 3rd Birthday, recent events have changed and Square got the title back. Figures crossed that will get a HD Remake of the first game and a MUCH BETTER sequel. If Square just sticks to the novel's lore and keeps Motomu Toriyama away from the project everything will be fine. Also, NO DUMBASS TIME TRAVEL PLOTS AND DISCOUNT JOKER VILLAINS!!!😡😠
I don't understand the logic of PE2's detractors on the controls. It's just RE Tank Controls with some UI, while the attack range sphere can be found in some PE spells. Why would the controls that made the first three RE games such a beloved franchise suddenly make it "bad" for another franchise? If it's acceptable in one game, why is it not acceptable in another?
Honestly, I found the series started to go downhill after the second game came out. And I say this out of kindness. Parasite Eve is like Silent Hill; the thing that makes it amazing is how unique it is. PE2 felt like a copy of Resident Evil from the gameplay to the plot. And after having scenic areas in the first PE like the various hot spots of New York, everything in PE2 looking bland except for the intro level. And I hated the tank controls. And the third instalment was just trying too hard to be different and what it did to Aya wasn't fair. Parasite Eve could have been Squaresoft's trademark survival horror game, but it developed an identity crisis. Considering the first game was actually a sequel to the novel, I think the series would have benefited more if it continued to have a similar plot to the first game (I highly doubt the "Eve" mitochondria would give up that easily), with the same high quality beautiful music and scenic areas, the same battle system and have a new cast in each game like Silent Hill. Honestly, I find Aya's story was an open and shut case after the first game. However, considering this game is getting such a comeback in popularity, I do forsee a reboot and hope for it to have a proper sequel series. It deserves another chance.
Funny to see this now I'm currently on floor 62 of the Chrysler building. But yes I'd settle for just an hd remake of the first game. Parasite eve 2 was good and enjoyable but I much prefer the battle system, controls, story, and weapon customization of parasite eve 1. I replay the first game every year around Christmas. It is and will forever be my favorite Christmas story. It has a very special place in my heart. It is and forever will be my favorite game of all time.
I love the first Parasite Eve! I enjoyed parts of Parasite Eve 2 but was still disappointed. The Third Birthday is just bad. I see you used my All Cutscenes video. I'm working on remastering those CGI FMV's with a software called Topaz Gigapixel AI. I already have most of them uploaded. Search Parasite Eve FMV AI Machine Learning Upscaling.
You know what, the artwork and characters design 100% created by man himself Tetsuya Nomura. Whenever I see this man name in some games I knew something crazy would happen 🤣🤣🤣 But Parasite Eve series was interesting tho, despite complicated twist that is one of Nomura's favorite style. Just like other games whenever he's the director or only involved 🤣🤣🤣
PE2 was a lot heavier on the creepy factor compared to the first game imo. Dryfield at night was spooky but the underground lab was just quiet and nerve-racking. It was also more akin to current survival horror series at the time. From the fixed camera angles, right down to the tank controls. Considering Square at the time was riding on the success of Final Fantasy, I think since it's been more than a decade since 3rd Birthday, now would be as good a time as any to reboot the series to a new fanbase. FF7r's combat system seems like it'd be a good base to build upon.
Not to long ago, probably when Pandemic started, I replayed PE 1 and I still enjoyed it very much. Then I moved onto the second one, which I honestly don't recall ever finishing it and after a couple of minutes, I noticed that the game mechanics where very very different and it felt very outdated and just stopped playing. Tried to Moved onto 3rd birthday but I failed since I was using a PSvita with rims, was very stuttery and glitchy. Seemed promising! I really wish they make a new one or a remake.
Tenchu, Legend of Dragoon, Parasite Eve, LETS GET IT HAPPENING GUYS. WE MADE RESIDENT EVIL 3 HAPPEN. Square should team up with Capcom for a Parasite Eve remake!
I loved The 3rd Birthday. Never played the originals. Parasite Eve can make a huge comeback. Just give Platinum games to make it. Maybe they can combine all play styles and have the player choose how to play. RPG, Survival Horror or Fast-Paced Action.
It might be an unpopular opinion but I enjoyed the 2nd Parasite Eve more than the first one. hell I haven't even completed the first one. I've played it for like an hour or two before I quit it for good. Meanwhile I've completed the 2nd one multiple times despite the clunky controls/camera that it had. The controls/camera were not great but you would get used to it after playing the game for a little while. and once you actually manage to get over it the game itself was so good. idk what made me like it that much but I just loved the story of it. and it actually was scary for the first couple of playthroughs (i was like 12-13 yrs old at the time). still one of the top games for ps1 for me. up there with tekken 3, spyro and z brothers. edit: forgot to mention the skill system that it had was great. unlocking new skills actually felt rewarding and impactful.
aaah, the classic "Action-Horror-RPG" ✌ finished PE1, PE2 and 3rd Birthday recently, gosh..! 3rd Birthday had twist story that i feel a bit hard to digest😮
Believe me..!!!! And you know it well...making a remake for part 1 & 2 in one game(winter and summer) with voice actors and maybe with both styles shoot-em up and beat-em up and dangerous action and close call and other playable characters with other scenarios and online co-op playing..it will make a history for both players and investors
I really really really liked The Third Birthday. I really like it's own little time travel story trying to wrap up the present by going to the past only to know that going into the past was what caused the events of the present in the first place. Gameplay wasn't as wonky once you get used to it it actually becomes really fluid
I absolutely love the first parasite eve I would be over the moon if they would make a remake of that the way they’re doing with final fantasy seven or resident evil two

I would LOVE for them to re make the original game, and then move forward to correct the two follow ups THUS reviving PE.
HD Collection would be nice PE1 & PE2 like.. DMC, Shenmue and Silent Hill HD Collection with trophies ^^
With the proper marketing this game would SMOKE it as a remake now.
I very much preferred the second.
On of my fave franchise. OMG i never knew about the PSP game!! Thank you for educating the younger gen. Hope it comes back along with Dino Crisis
It would be awesome if the remake of 1 and 2 or reboot is announced when the PS5 is released.
Parasite eve 2 is the best game ever man ... just after MGS
but the storyline was suck.
@@LHJ714 nah, for me the story was good, the control wasn't as good as RE2 or RE3 lol
This game was so ahead of its time. I really wish they would bring it back for a remake.
Hope to make a Remake of this Game. That mechanics as the FF7 remake was...
I love this games and i beat it several times.
one of my fav ps1 games! I wish they would remake this!
Its creepy how I was just thinking about these games and how PE2 felt more in the vein of RE2 and PE 1 felt like a true JRPG ( making it my favorite out of the three) the third Birthday just sounds and looks awesome......the music in PE1 is the best though!!
Love Parasite Eve. Do something with the IP Square!
I still talk about this game all the time.... Need a remastered.... (Part 1 not part 2)
I was so hyped back then.
this game needs a remake. I have been saying it for years.
Lmao imagine
It needs reboot not a remake because 3rd birthday ruined the entire horror rpg vibe of PE
Can we get a "What the Hell Happened to Skies of Arcadia?" literally my ALL TIME FAVORITE rpg and I'd love a remake or a follow up!!!
PE2 is the best...they should remake on pc version
IDK, I like all the games 🤷♂️
But if they are to make a sequel, make it based after 2 because 3rd Birthday feels more like a "What If?", and bring it back to Survival Horror RPG. Leave some of the leveling and tuning mechanics.
The Parasite Eve logo was recently renewed, for what reason I wonder?
It was dropped for the 3rd Birthday for some reason.
@@borinightmare Damn.. I hope there might have been some re-make news or something.
As an asian kid who’s not allowed to go out much, this gave my childhood the spice it needed. IT DEFINITELY NEEDS A REMASTERED VERSION!!
I loved the first two and PE2 is probably my favorite game ever, everything about it was magical and satisfying... did people really think it was a bad game? wtf
I'd love a sequel to PE2, and I mean a proper one, not the barely related to the mithocondria plot stuff we got in the third birthday, it feels like an entirely unrelated game with aya hoeshorned in for no reason
Parasite Eve...bought for the ff8 demo, stayed for the craziness. Fun fact: the game is a sequel to a book, also called parasite Eve.
There is a movie as well
@@jamesgoodwin9851 That movie was shit.
I liked PE2 and didn't think it was bad in any way at all.
Also, NO DUMBASS TIME TRAVEL PLOTS AND DISCOUNT JOKER VILLAINS!!!😡😠
one of The best game ive ever play..Deserves a remake.. it will be a big hit for sure..#Rebirth
Parasite eve 2 is my favorite, its repetitive gameplay actually work unlike other game. i miss this type of game.
Whenever I see this man name in some games I knew something crazy would happen 🤣🤣🤣
But Parasite Eve series was interesting tho, despite complicated twist that is one of Nomura's favorite style.
Parasite eve 2 and digimon world 3 needs a remake.
We need Soul blazer back in my opinion it was better than Zelda in the SNES era we also need zone of the enders and legend of legaia 3
Loved Parasite Eve
I think it would be awesome like ff7 to remake parasite eve
Tenchu, Legend of Dragoon, Parasite Eve, LETS GET IT HAPPENING GUYS. WE MADE RESIDENT EVIL 3 HAPPEN. Square should team up with Capcom for a Parasite Eve remake!
Particularly because I dont think Square should be trusted anymore
Yes, we need a new Tenchu. Preferably in the style of Wrath of Heaven / Return from Darkness ... not whatever the hell From did with Shadow Assassins.
They need to remake this in some form. Aya was my childhood crush.
I'm genuinely surprised no remake/reboot has been announced, given how many gamers have practically begging for it the past 10 years 🤔
Square Enix trademarked it so they are going to remake it.
@@blazerball32 Fingers crossed......
aaah, the classic "Action-Horror-RPG" ✌
finished PE1, PE2 and 3rd Birthday recently,
gosh..! 3rd Birthday had twist story that i feel a bit hard to digest😮
I asked you that now what the hell happened to D series? What the hell happened to DefJam Vendetta series?
Believe me..!!!!
And you know it well...making a remake for part 1 & 2 in one game(winter and summer) with voice actors and maybe with both styles shoot-em up and beat-em up and dangerous action and close call and other playable characters with other scenarios and online co-op playing..it will make a history for both players and investors
Would love to have this franchise revived in the future.
I really really really liked The Third Birthday. I really like it's own little time travel story trying to wrap up the present by going to the past only to know that going into the past was what caused the events of the present in the first place. Gameplay wasn't as wonky once you get used to it it actually becomes really fluid
This needs a remake asap.
I absolutely love the first parasite eve I would be over the moon if they would make a remake of that the way they’re doing with final fantasy seven or resident evil two
What happened? Maybe The 3rd Birthday killed the series. The game mechanics was decent but the story just big meeeh...
As a big fan of PE2, The 3rd Birthday just a mess.
All the series is damn great!. Its also replayable to get some great stuff and more challenging. I miss PE !!.
Third Birthday was so awful. Sigh.... I hope they remake the original. That would be amazing!
Yeah, the psp one was pretty good and I really hope they come out with another iteration for next generation consoles.
