Really liked your tutorial, especially that you had already constructed a better version but used your off the cuff skills to work round any problems you came across. You explained your thought process, which is good. This has nothing to do with the tutorial but am I correct in assuming you have some connection with Scotland. Nice
Thanks for this great tutorial! If someone wants to know how to find the correct width and distance for the plane in the cloner object - just take the length of the bend object (in this case the 72.841 in) and divide it by the amount of clones you want to have. Let's say you want to use a repetition of 64. In this case you would end up with 1.138 in per segment and the distance would be the same.
Dude, this video you posted is a great tutorial. Thank you. Also, do you have a chance to shoot a video of the car steering wheel and rim? I will be grateful if you do this.
Damn! you're an excellent teacher, so disappointed in myself for not finding you earlier, I guess my sleepless night wasn't a waste. thanks man...SUBSCRIBED!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the tut. At around 21 mins an easier way to create that chevron shape would have been to dissolve the vertical edges first, create the shape, then use Edge Cut to add the subdivisions back in.
Superb video. Will these methods work in Maya as well? Can you do a video on how to do the simple, low polygon wheel? I'm new to modelling so it would be awesome to learn from the basics, but still with a purpose. What I mean by a purpose is many tutorials have a box that you manipulate, but that doesn't interest me. To actually mold a wheel, albeit a low detailed one, would be much more interesting.
The concept should translate to Maya easily. nothing being used here isn't available in other 3D packages. As for Maya... I haven't used it in years, so a tutorial in it is not likely.
+Jamie Hamel-Smith Hello! I didn't mean that you should make a maya tutorial, but a C4D-tutorial on how to create the low polygon model. Or did you do that in the same manner, but just with less effort?
+Jamie Hamel-Smith Also, why did you move over from Maya to C4D? Just curious to hear your opinion as everyone keeps telling me to stick to Maya and that C4D is not fancy enough for modelling.
Thank you for this tutorial. I like very much the way you explain things, even when you are thinking aloud :-) I always learn something interesting and new with all and each one of your videos . Congrats!
"I'm not certain how to create that." Why did't you think this through before staring? It is pretty rude to do a tutorial on something you don't know how to do. You could have done this in a third of the steps. And it would have actually looked like your tire photo, which is what you have to do in the real world.
I'm sorry for wasting your time with my free tutorial. I do hope you find people devoted to being less "rude" and meeting your standards in the future :) Thanks for the comment!
Hi Jamie, just wanted to drop you a line and say thank you! Thank you for taking the time to explain your tricks and workflow in great detail.

Thanks Jamie. I have enjoyed all your tutorials. Keep it up man!
Good tutorial mate. You should definitely try using the Wrap deformer as an alternative to Bend. It gives you much more control.
very good tutorial. I enjoy the way you express your thoughts.
Watching this in 2020 still mind blown!

I really love your tutorials!

I have a problem. How do I fit geometry onto a curved surfice. not a spline
excellent tutorial!
and your voice so soothing it helps me understand much clearer hehehe
thank you man
would'nt it just be much more simpler with a tube and
then for the patterns you extrude splines and set it in a radial cloner?
Thank you for this tutorial. I like very much the way you explain things, even when you are thinking aloud :-) I always learn something interesting and new with all and each one of your videos . Congrats!

you're a dumb fuck, it's pretty rude to butch about something someone is doing for free too.
That's indeed a bit rude, man.
