I think I most appreciate how Shepard, despite being primarily a brains style villain, gets his hands dirty and is no slouch in a fight. Sure, Ghost and Roach are sucker punches. But Price, the baddest man in the series, gets handled by Shepard.

This scene was so amazing the first time we played through it. However COD4 takes the first place for me... I'll never forget that pistol skittering across the asphalt towards my outstretched hand. And finally, taking revenge on that one armed Bastard.
Dude! go you remember the mission where you had to take the long sniper shot with a 50 cal and had to adjust for the wind? and can't forget the stealth ghillie mission crawling through the grass. Yeah mw2 campaign will have a special place in my heart but cod4 had some insanely good moments

Still to this day, the best CoD campaign of all time
I think COD4 beats it. Way tighter, more grounded, more moody. Less of a cartoony action movie. Love MW2 but it's definitely a lot dumber story-wise than the first one. Even has a bit of a dangling plot thread half-way through, some setups without payoff etc. which you can tell were changed at some point during production.
Then there's BLOPs which is like a perfect Cold War schlocky action movie.

I like how they actually removed the mistake with the revolver that the original made. In the original, Shepherd cocks the hammer to make the cylinder rotate onto a loaded chamber. When he pulls the trigger, we can see the cylinder rotate again (incorrectly rotating clockwise this time,) as if he didn't just cock the hammer. Here, I can see no such mistake.

The story was pretty confusing with a major plot hole, and I wouldn't consider the characters to be relatable, but they were still memorable. But the ending was definitely satisfying.

Even though Shepherd got what came to him, he was no slouch when it came to actual combat. Even as a three star General, Shepherd was able to outmatch Soap and Price in hand to hand combat and nearly killed them both.

Never made sense how an ageing general with a desk job, irrespective of his military background, could take on two SF operators in their prime in hand-to-hand combat and nearly kill them both.
It was ridiculous enough that he was allowed on the frontlines. Generals aren’t allowed that in reality, they wouldn’t even carry a weapon
@FrostyOutlaw For me his presence on the battlefield could be explained as him staying in control of all the dodgy things his Shadow PMCs get up to on his behalf. Sometimes Generals do lead from the front to inspire or control things.
It's more how silly it was he was able to single handedly almost kill Soap and Price.

There's something I love about the fact that a game and a war that was fought with so many guns and bombs and tanks came down to just a straight-up one-on-one fist fight.

The best part for me was aiming the knife at Sheperd! The fact that I got to deliver the killing blow, when I first played the game, was so satisfying after what he did to Ghost and Roach. Just a small action (aiming basically) but it meant so much

Well, this one is more realistic, I actually just did a spin with my knife to see how it looks again, and yes, with only one hand I would slide my hand down the blade before turning it around in my hand.
I think that doing a knife trick would be the last thing anyone would think about after pulling one out of their chest

That is a real tactic to fall into the water or to fall in a descent, another example of its use in Halo Reach, in the mission "Pillar of Auttum" when Noble 6 and Emile jump from the Pelican, they use that same position to stabilize in the fall and not risk dying if they fell bad, a more everyday example would be when you use that posture when you jump down a water slide in a water park

It sucks how the new game can’t put down effort to make it as good as the originals. Especially the part with Shepherd, in the new game he just gets shot and that’s it.
