My sister went to Qatar for work many years ago. She left her wallet full of cash and her ID on a taxi. She was crying when she asked the hotel reception for help. They told her " Do not worry. You will get your things back Insyaallah. People in Qatar do not steal." Sure enough the taxi driver returned to the hotel to deliver her wallet. My sister tried to give money to the driver as thanks but he wouldn't accept it. So yes...I believe there are many good people in Qatar!

Thank you TRT World. My wife and I went to Jordan 3 years ago, our first Arab country and the hospitality is similar, lovely welcoming people to strangers. It changed my whole perspective on Arabs and their culture. You will have a minority that act bad in any culture. Our next trip is to Lebanon to visit St Charbel Tomb. Don't listen to Western media, go to Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain and see for yourself. Most Western media is trying to force western colonial ideology on Qatar by giving negative media. Unfortunately some soccer players got involved in trying to politicize a sporting event. We need to mind our business western world, we have our own problems, we point out other people while ignoring our issues.

I've been living here in Qatar for almost 5 years now. I leave my smartphone on the table while I go collect my order so I don't lose my spot in the food court when dining out alone. Probably not the smartest move, but that's how safe it is here ma shaa Allah. Alhamdulillah

To be fair, Gulf countries are pretty safe; all streets are lit at night, people don't carry weapons and probably very few own them, and there's no sexual harassment on the streets.
Here in Qatar and other GCC nations if we want to reserve a table in a busy restaurant or library while we go to order something or use the toilet or meet someone we put our phones, bags, ...etc on the table to let others know this table is reserved and we're coming back. In london or paris If Im not careful I might lose my phone while I'm holding it walking on the streets it's crazy how they can even do that back there 😂😂 Alhamdulillah I'm here and Alhamdulillah for the Islamic values and laws the country has which made this possible. May Allah keep it this way forever Ameen🤲🤲

This happened to me in Qatar..
I had cash of 12,000USD along with 8000QAR (total approx 14,000 USD) in a pouch, I was visiting a customer for a meeting and had to take something out from my car trunk, at that time i kept the pouch with money in the trunk along with my laptop bag. while keeping the keys in my pocket i accidentally pressed the trunk release button and didn't notice that. 30 mins later security guy comes looking for me and informs me that the car trunk is open...for a moment it felt like I will faint in shock fearing all the money was gone....When I ran back to my car to my surprise everything was intact, nobody had touched anything and everything was safe.....
My son’s wallet fell from his pocket while we were bicycling in al bida park one evening. For more than an hour we were searching but couldn’t find. The park is very big. It was past 10pm, so we decided to ask the assistance of the park security in their station just inside the park. It was there and all the IDs and money were complete. The person who brought the wallet there was not identified.

When I lived there for 5 years I had very chaotic sleep pattern so I often wake up at 2 or 3 am, and would go out for an after midnight walk or to some 24h coffee shop. I haven't been able to enjoy that level of safety and carefreeness since I left.
Peoples are experiencing different socio political system and understanding the difference it makes. For those Muslim countries who are shy away from projecting their Islamic culture and heritage , Qatar is showing the way!

There is no comparison between the west and the Middle East in terms of safety not because, as u have mentioned the first reason, “a lot of security around” but because our religion and culture forbids robbery and violence plus it encourages hospitality and kindness and we adhere to it

Even with the wars going on it’s still safer, go check the videos made by Europeans who travel solo to Iraq, Iran, Syria and Yemen and see their feedback on personal level with the People of those countries. They find hospitality, and kindness. While in Europe at broad daylight u get mugged bcoz of a watch , crime rate is sky rocketing, homelessness is increasing, family ties are severed, old parents are left alone or dumped in an elderly home.
Salvador has the highest crime rate by the way.

When I visited Baghdad few years back, despite all the political turmoil and previous bombardment, I felt safer standing in the middle of their high streets than my own home town in London! The troubles there are mostly third party intrusion. The ordinary people themselves are cultured, decent people.

I lived in UAE for almost 2 decades, twice I lost my wallet full of money & cards both the time it was found at the public places where it was left in Abu Dhabi. GCC is very safe place to live & work.

My house main gate is open 24 during the world cup and no one dared to enter, even though there are many people around us.. yes it's that safe... but be careful if you think you can take an advantage of this because we have alot of cameras hidden in and around our houses and even the streets and the country's security is very high 👮🏻♂️🚨🚔😇🇶🇦

Its because one it's a Muslim country and second the standard of living is great for the nationals. What I am trying to say without offending anyone is there are countries where there is poverty/ inequality and unemployment and that leads to crime. And then are countries in the west developed countries where there is crime because there is no deterrent or proper punishment. In Qatar there is hardly any crime because of its strict laws and also the Qatari people are living a great life.
Because they are educated and conscious, they don't act like crazy and drink alcohol, and families are safe

What non muslim should understand about islamic stance for not stealing is that, the real practicing muslim always in a state of awareness & conscious of Allah (God), muslim understand that even if no one is watching or no CCTV around, *_God is still watching them, & there are 2 angels who observe & actively recording their actions left & right,_* these recorded actions will be brought with them & will be presented in front of Allah (God) in the Day of Judgement (hereafter) & in islam we believe that all creations will eventually have to give answer to Allah SWT (God) for their deeds in life.
Real practicing muslim ultimate goal was to attained goodness in hereafter & pleased the Creator, and in order to attained that is by being good in this world & adhere to Allah (God) commandments & stay away from anything that will displeases Allah (God), stealing is one of it.

Let me explain what the SHARIA law says if you find something (money, jewelry or anything) in public areas. You have to go to the nearest mosque and give that lost item to the leader of the mosque. He will say that there was something valuable found in such place (without specifics) for 3 months after every prayer. If no body comes for the lost item, then it will be given to the needy in the area after the 3 months. But now the police makes it easier. 😁

the Bicycle with his Phone which was used as a GPS to direct him to his destination,
so they waited until he was back after delivering the food and they asked him if he
was ok to leave his phone and Bicycle on street unattended, he told them that it is
totally safe and he had never been worried that someone would steel neither his

Crime rate is low cause the criminals actually face consequences for their actions in Qatar. In USA r@pists, murderers don't face proper punishment for their vile crimes. No wonder crime rate is so high there.
