SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom is a 2003 video game based on the animated series of the same name, developed by Heavy Iron Studios, AWE Games and Vicarious Visions and published by THQ. The game was released for the PlayStation 2, Game Boy Advance (GBA), Xbox, and Nintendo GameCube consoles as well as for Microsoft Windows. The game features an original storyline, in which the player attempts to defend Bikini Bottom from an invasion of robots created by Plankton with a machine called the Duplicatotron 3000, playing as SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy. The game was released on October 31, 2003 in North America and in Europe on November 28, 2003.

This comment didn't age well, I mean yeah there IS a HD remake, but it didn't add any cut content to the normal game. Yeah they said they would bring the robo squidward back amongst other cut content. But thats all in the multiplayer, but never used as they orginally intended when they cut it.
What hurts even more is that indeed the cut robo spongebob phase AND patricks dream are yet again found in the game files. Even more unfinished as in the OG version, nothings textured and robo spongebob with muscle arms is also textureless t-posing so they cut it pretty early on.
Imagine that, cool cut content being cut TWICE
3 years later... that HD Remake is now happening. B)
Battle for Bikini Bottom was part of my childhood. **~** I get _SO_ much nostalgia just hearing the tune from that game. I'm not even kidding.

I'm not joking when I say that the french narrator from Revenge of the Flying Dutchman scared me as a kid. He sounds so horribly forced that it's creepy. I wish Ice Cream World was used for Patrick's Dream in Battle for Bikini Bottom. I find it sad that the excuse for Patrick's dream in the final game is to quote Somecallmejohnny "An endless void of nothingness that Exdeath himself would call paradise" It would also be funny if it could include an extra boss fight with the French Narrator from Revenge of the Flying Dutchman in robot form that you get to fight as a boss that would be fought with Patrick and Sandy that you could only fight after beating the game once.
Now that I think about it, BfBB was the first time I was ever really interested in the development and early/ cut content of a game, and that's all thanks to the movie theatre where you get to look at concept art and such. Some of that concept art was really cool and it was a shame a lot of it was scrapped or changed in the final version.

There was also concept art for Robo-Squidward. From what was shown, he looked like an interesting boss. I pray for the day BFBB gets an HD remake..and all the cut content is added back in. This generation needs to know what good gaming is.

The remake did happen, but well, it’s more of a 1 to 1 remake with better textures. Yes that includes the very inaccurate Mr Krabs voice. Oh and the only real addition is a multiplayer horde mode that’s kinda just bland. And the only way to fight robo squidward in the remake
@@douglasthequilava I know man. I made this comment a long time ago. The remake came out in 2020. I played it as soon as it came out. I was pretty satisfied with it. It reintroduced the game to a new generation and made it look better.
@@deadshotruby6667 i loved the remake for letting me revisit my favorite game from when i was a kid, but i was also upset the cut content only being implemented in that very mediocre horde mode. Though i never beat the original BFBB actually. I finally beat Rehydrated the year i got it as a birthday present.

Thats weird. I remember Battle for Bikini Bottom as a bunch of mini games on pc, and the movie game as a point and click game for pc. it mustve been different on consoles then..

Revenge of the Flying Dutchman was owned by Blue Sky interactive a low budget company notorious for shitty games. Revenge of the Flying Dutchman while not a shitty game isn't an exciting game its actually super short and oftentimes repetitive compared to its superior sequels made by Heavy Iron.
When they needed to get this game out on the market they ran out of budget and its not like Nick actually funded Blue Sky they paid out of pocket to make this because paying all the original voice actors + paying Nick a cut to use the license there was no way they had any money left.
Then after this game sold poorly Blue Sky filed for Bankruptcy. This game killed Blue Sky.

Badman you forgot to mention unused sound effects. For example in Revenge of the Flying Dutchman there's an unused laughing sound effect that was probably supposed to play after finding the treasure in Jellyfish Fields since there's nothing gross about it.
I love watching these old videos where people wish for a remake but assume it would never happen. Dreams do come true after all.

I also remember actually fighting the Robo-Spongebob Musclepants without bugs or anything and I always cried when I realized I couldn't beat him.
I dunno why I was able to fight him with no bugs but I did. It just happened.

After 12 years we are finally getting a re-release of spongebob battle for bikini bottom rehydrated, and what I love that the new company that is remastering the game instead of iron works, there also adding cut content from the game as like an homage/and or a tribute to them. We are getting Patrick's dream level, we are getting the robot squidward boss, and multiplayer!
For the movie game (on the Gamecube, anyways), there's a cutscene that plays after waiting a little bit on the title screen that is I'm guessing a promo for the game. In it, there are a couple little texture changes that can be seen. Not much, but still a couple more changes that aren't directly hidden in the game.
I'll admit it... I never played battle for bikini bottom EVER I wasn't alive at THAT point but I was around while the movie game was out in consoles

Fun fact: The Movie Game didn't have much cut content because there wasn't enough development time for much worked on content to be cut. The Movie Game had a rushed developement which is why it uses the same engine, most of the same enemies, and most of the same abilities from BFBB

The only spongebob game I grew up on was Boating Bash but I’m playing through BfBB right now and it is amazing.

In the save files for BFBB and The Movie, there are a couple of mildly interesting strings.
BFBB has SPONGEBOB:WHENROBOTSATTACK::RyanNeilDan, which probably refers to a working title and 3/7 programmers (Ryan A. Mapes, Neil Ka'apuni, and Dan Kollmorgen.
The Movie has a similar string but it says something like SPONGEBOB2:PATRICK'SREVENGE. I don't remember the verbatim.

After the movie, Stephen Hilenberg left the show, and that combined with a lot of original writers doing the same, and just general corporate greed played their own parts.
Though, Hilenberg has returned for the most recent seasons, and I've heard they're actually pretty good. I haven't seen them for myself, though.

Good news everyone! THQ Nordic Announced that they will be rereleasing/remastering some of their Nickelodeon Video Games. I'm most certain that they will re-release BFBB considering that everyone has been begging THQ/Heavy Iron to make a sequel for a long time.

I think the magic bottle vending machine would've given sponge bob the magic bottle to trap the Dutchman, instead of it just falling out of him in the final game, maybe instead of the 7 treasures, SB would've had to find the vending machine.

ieda18 truth or square was originally "Happiness Squared" until it was made into a tie in. That's why the game has almost no relation to the episode.
