JoshtheOverlander you know what’s ironic? My TH-cam team The Bit Warriors was inspired by the game grumps let’s play style, but when I watch them, I can’t stand Arin when he decides to shit on a game regardless if it’s good or not.
I have both the PS2 and XBOX versions of this game and honestly, the XBOX version is the best one. It has better textures, better frame rate, shorter load times and the game has a really cool glowing effect around the environment, including the robots. Probably the best looking XBOX game for its time.
@Andrew Temertzoglou the GameCube version looks very dry and the textures looks alot worse. But then again, it's expected because the GameCube had to be limited to what they need to put in the disc.
@lenonbaby I understand that, but not every version from that time period is all identical. They're are some games that are outright different from the other versions. (Not counting the handheld ports)
You also forgot to mention that Mr. Krabs has a different voice actor, it is the same one that did merman. Waitwaitwaitwait, did you just say find out where patrick hid it? You... you do realize that you only need to TALK to patrick once, right? RIGHT?
You're really making me hyped for Rehydrated. It's easily not only my favorite Spongebob game, but my favorite liscensed game. Rehydrated will easily be my goty if Mega Man 12 doesn't come out later this yesr. A definite great analysis on the game, I pretty much agree with everything in this review. Although my favorite stage ends up being either Goo Lagoon or Spongebob's Dream. And while Kelp Forest is also my least favorite level I didn't find it to be that bad honestly.

When I was young, Rock Bottom scared me, but I saw the Sand Mountain level in the instruction manual and really wanted to play it, so I grinded the shiny objects needed to get enough spatulas to skip Rock Bottom entirely. Sand Mountain did not disappoint. :D

This is one of those cases where a developer REALLY used its source material to its strengths and ran with it. A friend of mine loves platformers and when he beat this game he asked me “Why the hell did this game have better platforming then other big name platformers at the time?” Great music, the ability to change characters, not to difficult to beat (outside the kelp forest lol), rewards players for doing extra. Yeah, this game deserves the remake it’s getting.
There's a way to clip into the container were the golden spatula in the rolling ball room. Screw Mermiadman's time challenge in the kelp vines, fall of (which is highly likely) and you have to start over

I had and still have a copy of spongbob squarepants battle for bikini bottom. Granted, the copy I have now is not the one I had as a kid. As for certain levels, such as the kelp forest level, I guess some of the complaints of the kelp forest and maybe rock bottom too was that they were too dark for some tv's at the time. I'm not sure if it was just me, but, I didn't quite as much of an issue as a kid with the kelp forest. And, for the kelp vines, if you tried to do the kelp vines too, Yeah, it's pretty bad for a slide. Course, I guess with the darkness of the level, I guess that I used tv's that had a brightness level that was set appropriately, and, I guess I wasn't initially a 100%er when I was a kid either, because I don't think I ever really got to some of the later levels. In regards to Mrs.Puff wanting the artwork, I guess you didn't fully listen what she said, either that, or your trolling. Because, I'm pretty positive she mentions that the robots stole the artwork from the rock bottom museum and she wanted you as the player to collect them to give back to Mrs.Puff so she could go bring them back to the museum. As for how she moves, Yeah, I think someone in multiclassicgamers original spongebob squarepants battle for bikini bottom lets play that he did back in late 2012, early 2013 mentioned that they may have thought that she may have been on something throughout the game.
For the tiki part in kelp forest there’s another button you need to hit that gives you another bouncy leaf and makes it much easier Edit: Nevermind. It’s not on the other side of the map though. It’s like 50 ft away from the tiki area
I died during a boss fight while dealing the final blow. The cutscene started anyway and spongebob had the "ugly" face, until I picked up some energy. I don't know if it was a bug, but I thought it was a very nice detail

I would replay this game over and over again and I swear I just ALWAYS skipped Kelp Forest, every single time. I don't know any Golden Spatulas besides the Mr. Krabs one (which I couldn't complete in any way)

honestly it's been a long time since i last tuned in to a badman review video, can't wait to see this retrospective!

I never had a problem with the lighting in kelp forest area. Idk if playing the xbox version is the reason why

Absolutely hated the dream level. Also the slides in this game are surprisingly fun unlike most games. That is if you arent going for 100%.
