Sweet Lord, Elvis loved everyone not color, not race, just people! I saw this as a young teen and it changed me and my life. We should have been so much better than we are! Rest In Peace
No one can convey passion in a motion in the lyric like Elvis Presley he literally is the greatest singer of songs to ever walk the face of this planet
Greatest performance ever caught on camera. When God created Elvis he was showing off. He put him here for a specific and special purpose. Once that purpose was fulfilled he qas called home. Forever immortalized and he lives on
He was supposed to sing a Christmas song to end this special but after the assassination of MLK he had to play this song His backup singers burst in tears after the song
When the Sweet Inspirations called him 'Boss', Elvis told them..."I'm not your Boss, I'm your brother". There was only love in Elvis' heart. Bless you both.
His heart was bigger than the moon ! He grew up in extreme poverty ! His love for his fellow man had no boundaries nor colors ! The king there will never be another
1968, MLK, ROBERT KENNEDY CIVIL UNREST, HE IS CRYING OUT TO MILLIONS. You can see his pain it was a tragic time, I remember so well the pain of the time.
I hear the cry in his voice, as I'm sitting here crying... Why can't people just love and respect one another - this song was written for Elvis, at Elvis's request, after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and, unfortunately, the song still resonates today - WHEN WILL WE LEARN? I love Elvis Presley yesterday, today and tomorrow - love and respect for one another is the answer....
Like i have said before this song needs re releasing,,with this film of him singing his heart out ,with true meaning and feeling ,the man with 10,or more, voices, and vocal range.
Yes it is without question the finest most powerful, accurate, live solo performances of all time never to be equalled. Brings me to tears every time n I've watched it many times.
Hi. I understand your emotional response guys. Elvis gives a vocal rendition that howls in pain and just tears at the soul. For me it's his best ever live performance. Forget all the cheesy Vegas performances of a sick and bloated man in later years, singing to middle aged ladies in purple rinses blowing into their diamante handkerchiefs. This is the REAL Elvis Presley - the side Colonel Parker didn't want the world to see - the side of the man that really mattered as a performer and which was so very often denied the chance to surface. But here his chance came to do just that and man, he did NOT hold back..... MLK had not long been murdered and with it the hope of humanity it seemed, so Elvis pours himself out in song. Every sinew is stretched to breaking point, his voice is cracking up under the immense emotional strain of it all. And where is the choreography? He jettisoned it and instead his right hand becomes this twisted and gnarled thing on the end of his arm that was swinging wildly like a crazed wrecking ball in frustration. And why? Because Elvis grew up in the ghetto practically destitute, him and his family along with all the black families around him. He had nothing. His family had nothing. His neighbourhood and community had nothing. They were all in it together, so they were all brothers and sisters. As a result he grew up free of the vile ugly curse of racism. And to witness it was often having to witness his friends enduring it. And it tormented him and hurt him deeply to see it happening as a child and now it was happening all over again. That's why this song meant so much to him. Elvis connected with it on every level and no one but no one could have delivered it any more convincingly than he did because he meant every sylable of every word. And it showed. And that's why we end up in tears at the end of it because he transmits his pain and torment to us so we feel it too - deeply. As a footnote, after the performance and the cameras switched off, he apparantly just crawled into the foetal position on the floor and lay there .........nuff said.
Elvis recorded the song “If I Can Dream” just two months after the murder, and the emotional intensity with which he delivers it still brings back the shock and grief that gripped America in the wake of King’s murder. he was just six years younger than King, and both were born and raised in the Deep South (King in Georgia and Elvis in Mississippi), where they were surrounded by institutionalized racism. Martin Luther King, Jr. was killed less than nine miles from Presley’s home at Graceland. he was unable to attend the funeral in person but he watched the funeral of Martin Luther King, Jr. in his trailer during a movie he filmed. and he cried. He really cared deeply.
Elvis loved everyone. He saw no color. He was deeply religious. He wasn’t perfect, he was flawed for sure, but he carried such a deep love in his heart for his fellow man. His gospel recordings are something you need to check out.

Its crazy that there is people burning church's and taking down pictures and statues of Jesus nowadays! Evil people they don't want anything close to peace they are fueled by hate and fake news spurring people on and its like before Noah built the ark if not worse. All because they don't like Trump. I remember before he said he was gonna run people thought he was the American dream then I don't know what happened but I hope we can bounce back but it doesn't look good when people won't even have discussions . instead if you don't believe in the same things they do they try to ruin people, get them fired and its actually gotten to killing each other over belonging to and different political party or wearing a hat or t shirt. Its like everyone has gone insane and are full of hate and rage. Nothing comes good out of either one of them . Peace and love from Toronto Canada. God bless every one because I think were in for a rocky ride in the next few months.

Love you guys but Priscilla was his ex wife. A big difference! She does not deserve to be referred to as his wife. She's been riding those coattails long enough by keeping the Presley name, which he did not want her to keep and that's a fact. But the song is what we need today. Elvis and the writer were ahead of their time. God bless.
This song!! Every single time I listen to this I cry.. The goosebumps are off the scale.. We should all join hands & fight for each other. ☮️ And 💗 from the 🇬🇧 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Your reaction to Elvis-If I Can Dream was beautiful! Elvis was very talented & religious. His voice never failed even at the end when he was so sick. Elvis could sing any song & make it his own, pop, country, religious songs, he did them all! He was really blessed & very generous.
My favorite Elvis song. I literally cry every time I watch this. His raw emotion-looks like he's going to literally cry. I heard** he did cry backstage after the performance. God in Heaven, please hear our cries! Blessings
After 50 years, this song still gives me chills, in the most amazing & beautiful way...Elvis had one of the most caring & purest hearts, & all he wanted was for everyone to love one another, & this song is still relevant today, maybe more now, than ever 💟💟💟 I would love you guys to react to In the Ghetto by Elvis, is you have not covered that song yet!
After singing this song on this stage he dropped to the floor and sobbed !He was a very passionate man who cared about people and wanted to help everybody!
I couldnt agree more with your comments and my heart goes out to you all during these sad times. All lives matter no matter skin colour, gender, race, religion. Elvis gave his all in breaking down the racial wall.
That song is my all time favorite song. I wish that dream would come true before I die, Nothing would make me more happy. I really enjoyed this video, I love you both
The perfect song for today. His manager had planned a Christmas song for the end of this show, but Elvis insisted on this one instead. From his heart. I think you are correct that more people are ignorant than are evil.
Elvis was as real and humble and truly caring as a person can be. I will never forget how I felt when it came on tv he had died. I ran out my front door crying calling for my best friend that lived across from me and she was running out her door crying at the same time. This whole world cried and grieved. I live in Tennessee and for weeks people came from everywhere just to be close to where Elvis was. He was REAL and loved nothing more than doing things for people he didn't even know. He gave of himself financially personally any way he could because it brought him joy to help someone that needed help. He was and still is so loved and missed. 💖😥
Elvis was the King of rock n roll and he sang from his heart directly to your soul . A kind humble soul who loved life and all people! His music brings us all together as it should be! Peace and love to all.
You’re so right - The song is so relevant now. He was an angel on earth. He loved all people and he showed the hurt & pain he felt losing Martin Luther King, Jr. I remember when MLK, Jr. was gunned down, for telling the truth & trying to make the world better. Elvis knew the world had lost a great light & he suffered in his soul over that loss. Elvis is the GOAT (for so many reasons), the KING of Rock n Roll! Thank you for sharing this w/ us!
Thank you for loving Elvis, I have been a fan since I was 8 amd I'm 61. He was a special person! You will love Graceland it was an experience of a lifetime!
Great reaction and yes the world should listen to this song now! And yes Elvis is the GOAT without a doubt, he was a God given talent never seen before or after, recommend to listen to Trying to get to you 1968, bridge over trouble water 1970
A GREAT SONG BY THE GREATEST ARTIST AND SINGER OF ALL TIME...THANK YOU FOR SHOWCASING HIS UNMATCHED TALENT...I FIRST HEARD THIS SONG WHEN I WAS 7 YEARS OLD ON HIS 1968 COME BACK SPECIAL.. I WAS WATCHING IT WITH MY PARENTS.. AND THAT SHOW AND SONG HIT ME LIKE NOTHING I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED IN MY YOUNG YEARS... YES AT AGE 7 I WAS HOOKED ON ELVIS.... INDEED HE WAS AND STILL IS KING!! GOD BLESS & THANKYOU AGAIN FOR SHOWCASING THIS ICON!
Awesome song sung by the Greatest of all time. The man cared about all walks life. He did more and donated to more charities than any other artist celebrity.
I saw an interview (its on youtube) with a guy from the poor section of Memphis. His parents (or grandparents?) loved Elvis and kept talking about one episode with Elvis when he said "Sir" and "Mam`" to them in the 60`s and treated them with so much respect. They were black and he was a white huge music star. Quite unusuall in that era.
Elvis was so heart broken over the assassination of the Rev. Martin Luther King. He would be hurt deeply if he was here today & could see what is going on. I am so hurt myself. I pray so hard that peace will come. Life is too short. We need to love & accept one another. Racism, thank God, is NOT welcome in my home. We are ALL Gods children. Thank you Shawn & Mel....
Every year on MLK's birthday, I listen and watch this many times as I can take because it makes me cry every single time. In the closer shots of him, you can see the tears welling up in his eyes, I read in several places that he hoped he could get through this to honor his friends MLK and RFK properly and when finished this he went backstage and broke down and cried, along with this around him backstage. Us older people witnessed the Terminated lives of 3 great men. Flawed, but more good than bad and nobody can understand the pain this caused in most of the country. JFK in 1963 RFK &MLK in 1968. When I heard Bobby had been killed I had a primal grieving session all night long. I prayed and cried , prayed and cried. Feeling like Bobby was taking his brothers mantle of hope and was also killed¿!!! Then MLK, it does make me wonder how Elvis got through. I myself would have been a blubbering idiot!!! Kudos to this man. Who weathered much criticism and pain, and still pull off this most powerful performance!!!God bless you and keep you, dear man!!!!
After reading the comments that others have posted, it makes me feel good that there are people out there hate prejudice as much as I do. It's sad to see so many who can't appreciate a person for what they are on the inside, where it really counts. I am happy to see that this problem has finally got the attention that it should have been given a long time ago. Where as I agree with "Black Lives Matter", but hopefully one of these days, it will be "Everyone's Lives Matter" and prejudice will be a thing of the past.
The perfect song for these unsettling times. Elvis sings " If I can dream" with every ounce of pure emotion ,feeling and pleading for understanding. My favourite of all time.
Elvis usually did what his manager Colonel Parker told him to do. However, on this particular occasion, when Colonel Parker told him he didn't want him to sing this song, saying it wasn't his style, Elvis pushed pack and insited on singing it. And the rest is history.
I have to strongly disagree with you John, your statement is not correct. When it came to songs, his manager did not tell Elvis what to record, only one time did Parker ask him to record a certain song, and it was for his (Parker’s) wife. Elvis always recorded the songs that he liked. Elvis had a great ear when it came to songs, and the music and arrangement.
John O'Connor I hate The Colonel he was a parasite to me he to what caused other than the drugs contributed to his death I just don't like him never have never will. Example he had the chance to be opposite Barbara Streisand in the remake of When a Star is Born Krist Kristofferson ended up with the part Colonel passed on it said no your done making movies I think he would have done good job he in my opinion was a good actor just alot of crap roles other Veva Las Vegas and Jailhouse Rock.
@@walterlee1345 When I say "did what his manager Colonel Parker told him to do," I was referring to Parker's overall management of his career, but not micromanaging the songs Elvis sang. He probably didn't; I don't think he had the expertise for that. I was referring to this song in particular. The story I heard over the years was that Parker didn't want him to sing it, but Elvis really wanted to and obviously did. If that story isn't true, then it isn't true, but it's been out there for decades. I also heard he talked Elvis out of doing A Star is Born. I did hear some close to him say that. Now, someone else commented on TH-cam that one of his former bodyguards said he didn't really want to do it. So which story is correct? The former is the story I've heard repeated for years. Doesn't make it true, but all I can say is that I did hear it from people close to him.
@@darcylyons4313 I thought KIng Creole and Lover Me Tender were good too, but I get your point. Elvis wanted to star in higher quality movies, But Colonel Parker could care less about how good they were. He just wanted to make money and got Elvis committed to making many movies over several years, which also ended up keeping him from doing live performances. The story about Parker talking Elvis out of "A Star is Born" is the one I heard most often repeated. Parker also was a heavy gambler, sitting at the gambling tables in Vegas gambling away what I heard was hundreds of thousands of dollars in one night. It's interesting that some who knew them both couldn't stand the Colonel while others did. People obviously had different experiences with him.
Elvis left heart on the stage when he sang. That is why he is the King and this song is just as powerful 52 years after he sang it. I agree, we all need to know people that don't look like us.
Sweet Lord, Elvis loved everyone not color, not race, just people! I saw this as a young teen and it changed me and my life. We should have been so much better than we are! Rest In Peace

☮️ And 💗 from the 🇬🇧

Gosto muito de Elvis e do smonkey Robson de todos os grandes cantores da decada de 70 e 80 e 90 foram os melhores
That's lOVE,HEART,SOUL LIVE ON GOAT. people should listen. PLEASE
Long live the Goat❤️❤️
Your reaction to Elvis-If I Can Dream was beautiful! Elvis was very talented & religious. His voice never failed even at the end when he was so sick. Elvis could sing any song & make it his own, pop, country, religious songs, he did them all! He was really blessed & very generous.
Thank you Fam and we agree with you completely about Elvis ❤️❤️
There was never a song that I didn't like of Elvis. He could sing anything and make it beautiful.
this is a strong argument for why they called him the "KING"
"
I cry every single time.
He kills this with deep conviction..
A very powerful song...sung with great passion.
Absolutely the best live performance ever.It will never get better than this
So moved by your sincere and loving response. Bless you both.
Hey ExVoto63 thank you so much for watching. Bless you too
Word...
My favorite Elvis song. I literally cry every time I watch this. His raw emotion-looks like he's going to literally cry. I heard** he did cry backstage after the performance. God in Heaven, please hear our cries! Blessings
ELVIS WAS ALWAYS THAT WAY,,HE LOVED EVERYONE! I AM 70,,AND I REMEMBER
He was a great man he poured his soul out to everyone and he loved everyone ❤️
After 50 years, this song still gives me chills, in the most amazing & beautiful way...Elvis had one of the most caring & purest hearts, & all he wanted was for everyone to love one another, & this song is still relevant today, maybe more now, than ever 💟💟💟 I would love you guys to react to In the Ghetto by Elvis, is you have not covered that song yet!
Hey Sandyleewhite thank you so much for that beautiful comment 💜
After singing this song on this stage he dropped to the floor and sobbed !He was a very passionate man who cared about people and wanted to help everybody!
I couldnt agree more with your comments and my heart goes out to you all during these sad times. All lives matter no matter skin colour, gender, race, religion. Elvis gave his all in breaking down the racial wall.
I've heard this song hundreds of times, I still cry..RIP Elvis
That song is my all time favorite song. I wish that dream would come true before I die, Nothing would make me more happy. I really enjoyed this video, I love you both
This message needs to be heard today. Still relevant. I read an interview that he fell and cried the night he heard about the MLK assassinitation.
The perfect song for today. His manager had planned a Christmas song for the end of this show, but Elvis insisted on this one instead. From his heart. I think you are correct that more people are ignorant than are evil.
Phyllis B thank you so much for watching and I do believe it’s ignorance.
I had the privilege of seeing Elvis's last two concerts the man is a Legend , sending love from the 🇬🇧✌️
Elvis was the King of rock n roll and he sang from his heart directly to your soul .
Elvis was a warrior for civil right ps for Human Beings!
You never hear people sing like that anymore, to bad
Elvis will always be the greatest entertainer this world is ever seen thank you guys for listening and playing this
Beautiful reaction to a beautiful song from Elvis, sending love from the UK
Thank you for loving Elvis, I have been a fan since I was 8 amd I'm 61. He was a special person! You will love Graceland it was an experience of a lifetime!
Great reaction and yes the world should listen to this song now! And yes Elvis is the GOAT without a doubt, he was a God given talent never seen before or after, recommend to listen to Trying to get to you 1968, bridge over trouble water 1970
Hello P Dark Elvis really is a goat💜
I love Elvis
This Song is True deep
This voice is amazing.
Hey Dante thank you for watching 😀
This man and his song touches my heart .
Us older people witnessed the
Terminated lives of 3 great men.
Amen!! My all time Favorite song!!
I'm 67 and after all these years I still cry along with you.
Beautiful, beautiful, the greatest voice and singer, of the world, no doubt!
ALWAYS THE KING, ELVIS PRESLEY!
Elvis poured his heart out in this performance ! There will never be another one like him ! The king 👑

Elvis 🤩👑best Song and Elvis is the best Singer ever 🌍🙏
After reading the comments that others have posted, it makes me feel good that there are people out there hate prejudice as much as I do. It's sad to see so many who can't appreciate a person for what they are on the inside, where it really counts. I am happy to see that this problem has finally got the attention that it should have been given a long time ago. Where as I agree with "Black Lives Matter", but hopefully one of these days, it will be "Everyone's Lives Matter" and prejudice will be a thing of the past.
Thank you.You need to listen to in the ghetto,or you never walk alone by Elvis, keep up the great work
Steve Vita thank you so much for watching 💜

God bless Elvis ! The message in this song rings true even today ! Cmon people try love be kind help someone in need it doesn’t cost a dime
This song still resonates in this world today 👵👵❤️😢
The perfect song for these unsettling times. Elvis sings " If I can dream" with every ounce of pure emotion ,feeling and pleading for understanding. My favourite of all time.
Hey JBRSTTDB thank you so much for watching 💜😀
Elvis usually did what his manager Colonel Parker told him to do. However, on this particular occasion, when Colonel Parker told him he didn't want him to sing this song, saying it wasn't his style, Elvis pushed pack and insited on singing it. And the rest is history.
Wow John thank you so much for the information on Elvis💜💜
My all-time favorite Elvis song! ♥️🇺🇸GOD bless
