Selecting the correct gauge of landscape edging
Which metal edging size is best
How many stakes will you need
Corten steel edging is available in both 11 gauge and 14 gauge thickness. The 14 gauge metal edging cost less and is better for softer surfaces such as grass or soil. It's a better fit for lawn edging or garden edging projects. The 11 gauge metal edging is best used on harder surfaces such as hard dirt or rock areas.
Corten edging is available in ten foot strips and is available in the following widths:
    4", 6", 8", and 12" widths.
Corten stakes are available in both 11 gauge and 14 gauge thickness.
    The following sizes are available:
    8" overall (4" face coverage)
    10" overall (6" face coverage)
    12" overall (8" face coverage)
    16" overall (12" face coverage)
    Metal landscape edging installation
    1. Determine where you want the edging to go and determine how much Corten edging that you will need
    2. Dig a trench along the path of the edging. The depth of the trench is half of the size of the landscape edging strip width size.
    3. Measure each end of the garden edging to verify they are level
    4. Joining two strips is simple. Simply butt the edges together and place a stake in the center. You can also overlap two strips to avoid any cutting
    5. Stakes should be four inches longer than the face width of the edging. Use a hammer to install the stakes. Always cover sharp strip corners.

Regardless of whether you install the stakes at the front or the back it looks hideous in my opinion. There’s much better installation methods to use.
