I mean in the event of a big smash cars of this era are death traps compared with their modern equivalents but what a way to travel. Belongs to an age when you didn't drive to somewhere you "went motoring".
Ex-wife used to have a Morris Minor in the 80's - yep I am that old - and aside from lack of synchro on first it still felt modern.

As you know I have an Armstrong Siddeley from 1949 ... And it's ... Interesting to drive shall we say ☺️

My 1956 Mark 2 has power assisted ventilated 12 inch drums. It's all brand new and the car stops really well and straight. People blather about the safety of old cars. Well it's actually all about 3 things. 1. is the car in excellent mechanical condition 2 . What is the attitude of the driver and how competent are they to drive and 3. Where and when do people drive. Or in other words. Do they avoid risks.
Classic car insurance clearly demonstrates that classic cars rarely have accidents. Owners are very risk averse.
Compare this to motorcycles. And insurance costs are massively higher even for an owner with a low risk profile.
The reality is classic cars in terms of risk are the safest vehicle on the road. And our insurance premiums prove this. My insurance for 1 motorcycle is massively more than multiple classic cars. And my overall premium is massively less than many pay for a single modern vehicle. And the classics are worth more!
