John and Olivia were good friends for many, many years. John did ask his wife if he could kiss Olivia.
This is from the main event concert tour with John, Olivia and Anthony warlow. The entire concert is incredible
John is a National Treasure. Their chemistry is off the charts
Love this performance! John and Livy are beautiful together. John's voice is next level, I love how he even has the courtesy to turn his head for the high notes..so he doesn't blow Olivia's ears out! And Livy is just awesome here!
This is definitely my favorite duet song! Their voices harmonize so well and their chemistry is too adorable!
John and Livvy started out together in their teens. That was the Main Event Concert with Anthony Warlow that toured for 3 months. John had permission from his wife Gilly who was also close to Livvy to kiss her once a performance for those 3 months. Livvy very much loved her husband and daughter as John loved his family. John was the last phone call with Livvy before she passed with her family and Gilly had to hold him together. There was never anything between them romantically and John married young.
These two are the purest hearts and kindest people on stage. Two Australian’s that are loved, they were there for Anthony after some harsh cancer treatment to get him back on stage because that is who they are. Anthony is Opera trained and stars in our top stage musicals, he is also a good person. All 3 turn up for any charity events to help raise money. Livvy built a huge cancer wellness center in Melbourne and she ran stays at her home for patients that needed calm and peace. Her yearly charity walk to run her centre is still going but now being lead by her niece and daughter. She would have been devastated to know John got cancer. Don’t read more into that kiss than there is, you just have to look at the smile after it to see them. They are also both seasoned actors on stage but that kiss was honest.
John & Olivia’s friendship went all the way back to the late 60’s.
There duet opening the Sydney Olympic Games was outstanding !!
They have done many many performances together and used to know each other because they are under the same record label growing up very good friends

Absolutely beautiful by both John & Olivia. They sang quite a few songs together some really funny too. Also in concert was Anthony Warlow our Australian Phantom Of The Opera. Anthony taught John to sing Opera, is so far funny and amazing. They all shared solos and together in this concert called The Main Event (Full concert is on TH-cam.) John & Olivia have known each other since teenage years - just good close friends.

This performance is so touching. I was so happy to see you look excited every time it swelled. They really did have chemistry despite not being together. Glad you will always venture away from your usual content for Farnsey. And I’ll always love our Livvy. She was one of those people who looked like a supermodel but also had the purest and kindest heart. Great reaction.

I love ONJ. That's it! As great as John Farnham's vocals are, I'll take ONJ all day, every day! ONJ was pure perfection - range, perfect pitch, vocal control, effortless transitions in all of her vocal registers, used every vocal technique, amazing harmonizer, incredible interpreter, and vocal agility off the charts. Plus just a beautiful voice. This was a John Farnham song and ONJ adapted to it and let him shine. ONJ was just an amazingly beautiful human being, inside and out. I miss her tremendously. RIP ONJ!
John and Olivia were friends for 50+ years. They performed many times on stage. Olivia's last performance with John was the Bush-fire relief concert a few years back.
The kiss at the end was just a kiss. The isolation on stage was what made the kiss seem more. As a note in point, John asked his wife if he could kiss Olivia.
John waa devastated when he found out about Olivia's passing. What made it worse was he was dealing with his own medical issues and was stuck in hospital unable to go to his friends funeral.
They have two concerts together, as well as a shared Christmas album. LOTS to listen to from them. Try Two Strong Hearts from the concert of the same name.
As you say, a match made in heaven. They were really great friends. John's been married to Jill for 50 years and Olivia was happy married too. She said that John Farnham was the singer she always wanted to sing with the most.

Graeme Goble wrote this song for John's Uncovered Album in 1980. He wrote and produced most of the songs on that album. John also write a couple and that was also the album that John originally rearrangement recorded the Beatles song Help.
In a recent interview, one of John's sons was asked if he could still sing after the surgery and his response was, "Oh yeah he can still sing!"

As you said, "Pure Mastery". No, they never dated, just very good friends, with his wife approving "the Kiss" each night of the show. Both had theatrical experience and they let it shine through this song.
Although they new of each other, both being involved in the music industry in Melbourne, they had never actually met. Olivia went to London and john and Jilly met her when they went to London. They were discussing this on there Christmas album interview.
John actually asked his wife Jill if he could kiss Olivia on the lips in that segment and got her approval. Also Liv's then 12 year old daughter was backstage so nothing was untoward about it.
John and Livvy have been friends for a very long time. They sing well together.❤
About the kiss, I read somewhere that they dated each other in their teens, when they first met in the Melbourne music industry. Then Olivia went to England, as many Aussies did starting out to further their careers in a bigger market.
Both John and Olivia were born in Britain and later became Aussies.
John stayed in Australia and later married.
So they already had a close relationship and kept contact over the decades. When Liv was first diagnosed she was back in Melbourne so they probably kept contact then. She survived that bout. It appears that they maintained that right up until Olivia died.
So this performance always had the cloud of relapse hanging over her.
They did some recording together too. I don’t think his wife would make a fuss and I think the kiss was built into each performance.
She later puts on a leather jacket and they do “Better shape up” from ‘Grease’. So it’s all a romance performance.
John and Olivia never dated. Olivia's first boyfriend, as a teenager, was Ian Turpi. They were together until she left for the UK. 😀

John actually released this as a solo, but the duet make for greater impact; the best of friends, since they started singing in the late 60's. Where Olivia moved overseas to the United States, John chose to forgo international exposure to stay with his family; although he did for awhile sing with Australia's Little River Band, after Glenn Shorrock left to persue a solo career.

This is a beautiful concert that is 2.5 hours long. It was called THE MAIN EVENT and included Anthony Warlow, Australia's phantom from PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. As for their history, both knew each other in the early 60's. Both had a similar history having been born in England and coming out as children and living in Victoria, Australia. Both were in the industry as teenagers in Melbourne. Eventually Liv left for good and John married in the late 60's to his wife Jill who he is still with. Over the years they have worked together from time to time and Olivia was quoted once as saying that her favourite singer of all time was John.

According to them , the three of them met in England. He was already married to Jill, the love of his life.
She was dame oliver in the end for all her efforts in charity
Just like john and many other artists of the time genuinely just nice people
Most did alot of charity work in their time and most without acknowledgement
