    I backroll with a dry (unloaded) roller a few minutes after first applying paint with a roller to that section. This gets rid of bubbles, guarantees an even coat and lessens any orange peel texturing. I'm sure you do the same.
    The foam roller certainly does create bubbles but again, dry rolling with a practically dry roller after a few minutes removes the bubbles and evens the paint. I was surprised to see that the new roller created fewer bubbles.
    Did you dry a microfibre roller sleeve? I prefer them when I want a particularly texture free finish.
    I'm always interested in your tests and experiments. Please keep them coming.

      I must admit I don't paint can dry that fast that touching it again you could make parts flash. Bubbling does not happen too much thankfully. But using the correct pile and rolling technique solves a lot. Sometimes adding water to the paint helps.

    Thank you, this was my problem painting the bathroom today. Super humid today as well. I will try 1/2” next. Someone said try woven roller.

    Thanks for this - very useful and interesting video. So, just to make sure that I have understood correctly, are you recommending that when applying water based emulsion 1. Use a good quality medium fibre roller rather than a worn one or a foam one; 2) After first rolling paint on, lay-off using light strokes?

      Thank you, your welcome. And yes you have it right.

      @@PaintingandDecorating Thanks for confirming. I had so much trouble applying Zinsser Permawhite to a door with a foam roller I gave up because of bubbles and went back to using a brush, but then of course I got some brushmarks. There's a Nobel prize waiting for the person who invents an oil based white paint that really doesn't yellow...

      I think there is one.
      Don't ask the name, but I seem to recall the stuff they use in squash courts doesn't yellow.

      @@andrewmcgeorge7820 Interesting. I used to play a lot of squash a long time ago. I'll investigate what type of paint is used. It definitely stays very white and obviously it's very hard wearing. Thanks for the tip.

    Hi Sir which roller is best for Emulsion water based paint? Sponge or that cotton/cloth one?

    Red feather. Could be a damp issue. Medium pile leaves texture. I want it smooth

    Literally facing this exact issue right now. Primed the walls first with Zinsser 123 and overpainted with Dulux Silk. Noticed it was bubbling straight away but carried on as I thought it would just flatten itself out. Over a week now and if I rub the surface I'm getting red paint coming off. Any suggestions? Just leave it do dry further? Was going to give it a hard rub over with a Scotch pad and recoat?

      @PaintingandDecorating  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It sounds like an unstable coat of silk. 123 is best been keyed and then a coat of matt before silk.

      I'm looking forward to the master's reply on this one. I use lots of Zinsser products but not 123. I wonder what the issue is. Just out of interest, why did you feel you had to prime the walls with Zinsser 123?

      @@PaintingandDecorating Whaddya reckon is the best course of action? It's not peeling or anything, just seems textured due to the bubbling and these seem to burst when rubbed and leave a mark of your hand.

    So what do you do with the bubbles that don't sit back in, and pop. I'm thinking sand them, but not sure.
