Nice video and I'm glad I saw it as a local (I live near the Harrison Path station, right across the river from Newark Penn on the Northeast Corridor) and someone relatively new to TSW (Only started playing around the time the Rush Hour routes came out) before I bought it. It feels like this got botched from the beginning if Matt is just now getting to asking about ALP46 and Multilevels were for trains going onto the Coast Line (NJCL), which in reality is what most of those trains that run on that line are anyway. Feels in a way like how the catenary gantries in the preview stream of Boston Sprinter were old school PRR style used from New York to DC because nobody checked and realized that New Haven-Boston was only electrified in the late 90s and look more like European electrification....
thanks mate! i remember that. brandon had to go back and re-do the catenary on Boston sprinter cause i’m assuming someone that works for DTG didn’t do research for the route. glad that was fixed, but what a mess. It’s always low effort and rushing. can’t make a great product when this cycle never ends.
I’ve been all in the forums & I’ve addressed my concerns there… but I feel strongly about this. This is the 3rd time getting New York Penn in TSW. The first 2 lacked tons of ai traffic & made the game feel unrealistic. Forgetting a freight layer with CSX & Norfolk Southern traffic, NOT HAVING LIRR???? Really are they serious? Not having LIRR bc it serves only AI traffic? So we didn’t have 146+dostos, Br 425 & talent 2s on Kassel to wurzburg that were AI only? Did we not get the Br class 465 at London Victoria that was ai only? Did we not get ai traffic on Bremen to Oldenburg that was ai traffic. I’m just confused how it’s been done before, & this time when it included literally the BUSIEST commuter rail road in the country, that runs through the most popular station (New York penn) & most trafficked interlocking (Harold interlocking) in all of North America, we can’t get it included. ON TOP OF THAT WE PAID FOR THE LIRR, & THEN EXTRA FOR THE M3….. WHY THE FUCK CAN WE NOT GET IT AS AI TRAFFIC. IM REALLY BAFFLED
As a New Yorker who has lived here my whole life, & has bought EVERY TSW dlc with my hard earned money, I find it quite disrespectful that US content specifically in the New York area is always so mediocre, excluding the Harlem Line because it’s quite enjoyable even though it’s short
Thank you...all this time constraints excuse, I dont want to hear that...they had deadlines on other dlcs when they added majority of playable/ai layers ESPECIALLY that London Commuter one smfh..no excuses and as well the timetable is LACKING like crazy....I'm like how u didn't AT least include parts of North Jersey Coast Line..If not to Lomg Branch, maybe at least to South Amboy...they need to add that jus like they added that Branch in the Dresden-Rheha dlc later on......but its true, the US content continues to be disrespected.
@@KINGTO101 bro forget the northeast coast line, they couldn’t even add Morrisville yard, where 99% of Trenton line trains turn around & arrive back at Trenton on the correct track. I’m astonished by DTG at this point.
Even Sursee/Luzern route (one loco) has more total services (290) including AI than the NEC NY Trenton route (3 locos, 2 cabcars) of 289 total (no mention of any AI)........let that sink in.......... if you think this route is a proper representation of the NEC ..........
NJCL trains are 32xx (New YorkLong Branch), 33xx (New YorkBay Head through service), and 35xx (New York-Perth Amboy short turns) so it does sound like they will be completely absent. The lines split at Rahway, btw.
Regarding services like the Acela non-stop services, I don't see why they can't implement a new feature where the route might end on a 'Go Via" instruction. This way you wouldn't have to stop like you would in real life but would still be able to have a sense of completing that timetable.
Excellent video. My personal feeling is that it only seems to be the German routes that get DTG's full and undivided attention. Sure, the likes of GWE and BML have received the 'full on' treatment but when you look beyond that there isn't a great deal that gives a busy feeling. Cathcart is whisper quiet, TVL (despite the fact that it's linked to industry) is under-utilised, NTP is the backbone for passenger & freight movement across the Pennines but again is under-utilised and East Coastway isn't exactly a thriving route. By contrast I've quite literally just completed the achievements on RRO (in TSW3) and due to traffic constantly drifting in and out of this route freight movement is a red light nightmare...as it should be. Traffic quantities on RSN (my all time favourite route) and multiple other routes have been no different (albeit, some more populated than others) and that feeling of "busy" is far more in evidence when you look at these German routes. I'm genuinely dreading the Midland Mainline release because as someone who lives just off it (close to the Maid Marion line junction) I know exactly how busy this route is and how non-busy DTG will make it. So yeah, whilst I totally agree that USA routes are, well, a bit dull it's not just your region that feels a bit unloved... Ha, pity the French because all they have is a single train, three stations and a teeny-tiny timetable across 60 miles of horribly detailed countryside.
Awesome video. US routes always get the short end of the stick. The LIRR route is a prime example. We're still waiting for the Harlem line to be fixed.
Really wish Microsoft still developed a US rail simulator. American rail just doesn't get the necessary attention from Dovetail. This is such a bummer, man. They shouldn't have committed to the NEC if they can't handle it. A southeastern or Midwest service seems more like their speed.
@@pixeladerail exactly. MSFS never breaks immersion (and if it does, they allow modders to pick up the slack). I remember the first Train Simulator from Microsoft and how much fun I had. I was like 12 years old, operating service from DC to Philly. The entire route! Came stock with the simulator. I miss those days.
You've done a really nice summary of all the issues and worries highlighted in the thread. As much as I want to have confidence in DTG, they're really not helping themselves here, with yesterday's article still not showing anything about the cab car (which should be coming given what they said). It's really quite concerning. As someone who went on this line back in 2018, I'd love to buy it, but in it's current state, I'm probably just going to skip it and only get the Acela. Also, I know you touched on the PIS and said you don't mind too much, personally, if they're going to take the time to include it, they should do it right. Being from the UK myself, it just kind of makes me cringe seeing it as it's so distinctly British for me. That being said though, PIS is definitely the least of my worries for this route though...

It's really a shame to see how dtg doesn't exploit the potential of tsw. And it would be nice to see sometime a dlc that is not America, Germany or England. I can imagine that is difficult to get in touch with some rail company but in my opinion they're not even trying. Even though physics in tsw is not completely right, it would be nice to see certain routes from the scenery point of view...
probably cause they know they are gonna make all the money they need to make with the smallest amount of effort possible to get by. so much untapped potential in every department. one thing i’m still dying to see are dynamic/random events. this would keep players in the game longer and have them want to come back to play services they’ve already played multiple times due to the service likely never aiding the same outcome. this game lacks replay value. :/
@@pixeladerail totally agree with you. Even simple faulty signals would add more differentiation. In fact, I personally love Maszyna in which random events are well implemented in my opinion

If after they confirm the amount of total services which is 289, of which 101 are yard services,of which NJT has 82 total passenger services, no LIRR, no freight, re used scenery, has a stream the day before launch that will show 5 new locos(including the cab cars), 1 new route NEC NY-Trenton, Boston with new lighting and signaling, Sherman hill with new lighting, 6 new redskins, launch a article that says nothing new and doesn't even contain any new content,have a link on the article to the thread highlighting the shortcomings of this route, plus then promote to buy LIRR and M3 on the same article when you are not including it on the time table, if after all that they manage to make good sales on the this, I will tip my hat to them and know that all bets are off and any hope of the future content quality, amount of services,will just be that a thing of the past. This is my opinion based on previous US content. I would love to buy this DLC, but in its current state there’s no way. What message does that say if I just blindly buy it. Once the route is a the state that it should be then it will be purchased. Until then my money will stay with me.
So here got the complete breakdown for the ALP-46 services So here the list: 10 services are yard moves to and from Sunny side. 10 services to Trenton from Penn 7 services to Jersey avenue from Penn 6 services from north jersey coast line to long branch going as far as Rahway 2 services from north Jersey coast line to South Amboy as far as Rahway 5 services from Jersey avenue to Penn.

I was hoping for a miracle but I think we all knew nothing was going to change. Hopefully We get a new timetable in the future. Until this happens I will skip this DLC.......
i dont get the point of throwing the stream back sometimes they really act like matt is the only person that can play train sim world. when you have a whole team of people building it
i’m thinking it’s likely cause he’s the lead producer and probably has all the answers for questions that will be asked but if i’m not mistaken (i think) he has like a note sheet or something so i guess that -could- be shared with another dev if they were to swap someone else in, in his place..? 🤔
it’s quite the opposite actually. they’ve done different timetables for gen 8 vs. gen 9 console & PC before so why not now? this is more calling dovetail out on having higher end users being bottlenecked when they absolutely DO NOT have to be. It’s not fair and that’s a valid criticism. Just because lower end systems have to have more limitations doesn’t mean other users with stronger systems have to as well.
He was asking why they can't have the content available for hardware that can play it, and just disable it for hardware that can't. As a completely casual gamer who never has high end hardware, that seems like a fair question even to me.
