    I like the way you summarize the story, just giving the highlights that stuck out to you with some funny touches. The "sleepover" made me laugh.
    Also as for Stone Vigil, it was basically a point of defense against Ishgard's war with dragons, but the dragons successfully attacked and took it over, and it had stayed as a nest for them for years. I can't remember what would be spoilers at this point, so I'll leave it at that. I'm glad you liked the dungeon!

    important caveat with fall damage: you can't die from fall damage *out of combat*. People do forget, and there are zones that are built specifically to trick people into trying to jump off a cliff while being chased by an enemy.
    Edit: at 9:26: this is a tankbuster telegraph. FFXIV's telegraphs all look the same for the same mechanic, so if you see four orange arrows pointing into someone, it's always a stack attack, or if a big eye appears over something, it means to turn away from that thing. In ARR it's still introducing these telegraphs, but as the game goes on, they can start layering these mechanics to make some really fun fights.

    To answer your question of if you are ever able to do solo duties with friends, the answer is no. The reason is primarily story and the MSQ being designed to play completely solo other than multiplayer duties like dungeons. FF14 is a final fantasy game first and mmo second, and final fantasy games are single player and story focused.
    The story is one of the primary focuses of the game and the main selling point. Hence some gameplay decisions are made based on how it interacts with the story.

    I'm enjjoying this journey you have started with your friend, hope you enjoy the rest of the MSQ!
    I suggest you pick up another class or 2 to alternate with soon, as once you are lvl 50 MSQ, you will be there for a while. Lvl 51 MSQ doesn't start till you reach Heavensward.
    You can unlock the Base Classes all before finishing ARR, and the Expansion Classes afterwards.
    I suggest when you reach HW to pick up Dark Knight for the story, but aside from that, play whatever you want! My Main is a Dancer, and I love it!
    At around 50-60 classes get filled out with their Basic Kit of Abilities, and it will feel really satisfying to combo. So give as many of them a try, and get them leveled up!

    The red marker you asked about was a tank buster. If anyone besides the tank eats that, its instant death. Some of them do a small AoE around the tank, so thats one reason to NEVER stand near a tank.
    One thing you have to take into account about dungeon wait time is your job role. EVERYONE wants to play damage dealing roles, so you're getting in line behind all of them.
    Tank and Healer wait time is almost non-existent. Seriously. Alot of times, you can queue for something as a Healer and it pops instantly. Like the second you hit Join, SHING! Also, because Tanks and Healers are harder to come by, they tend to get the "Adventurer in Need" bonus for a little extra pocket change and xp.

      I would actually love to play a tank, which I'm used to for the most part in World of Warcraft anyway. I might try one out soon :)

      @@MrSuperSanderDev I main Paladin. Tanking in FFXIV is so much fun. As you level up you get more and more tools in your kit to stay alive.
      One thing you can do in your downtime when your friend isn't available is level alt jobs. FFXIV has a baked-in "Armory" system where if you have more than one job, your lower level jobs level faster to more easily catch up to your highest level job. You can save individual gear sets for your different jobs to easily switch between them on the Character Menu.
      The Trust System (NPCs joining you on Dungeons) is a nice way to practice new jobs without pressure, especially if you're playing a role you don't ordinarily play.

    While you'll still gain exp after level 50, you won't be able to obtain any new abilities for base game classes until you reach the Heavensward part of MSQ, as post-50 class quests are locked until you reach that content. However, completing the 2.0 MSQ will give you access to sidequests to unlock new classes depending on which expansions you own (ie whether you're on the free trial) and expansion classes start at a high level.
    And yes, Coerthas is beautiful on the very very rare occasion where it's not constantly snowing and it's daytime.

      We were thinking something like that as well. Thanks for verifying :)
      We both bought the complete pack a few weeks ago when it was on sale (16 euro's or so for all expansions except Dawntrail). Since we both loved it and might as well get it when it has a good sale. From my understanding we should have all classes unlocked :D
      I am eagered to try other classes. Do you have any recommendations on which are the most fun? No matter the difficulty of the class/job.

    if you want to make the dungeons a bit harder do them on minimum ilevel and you unlock next expansion by doing msq the majority of things are tied to the the msq

    The MSQ is not like wow, quite the opposite actually. at the end of ARR 2.0, multiple patch get released over time adding new content, notably new MSQ. Once you reach MSQ lvl 50, you will be at level 50 MSQ for a while until you go through all the patches (2.0 --> 2.55) and only after you can go into heavensward.
    once you finish ARR 2.0, you get access to the alliance raid and the normal raid, which I recommend doing. The alliance raid can be done by queueing for it.
    Normal raid have 2 difficulty usually, normal (LFR) kind and savage for those that like raid progression. Unfortunately, ARR normal raid does not have a normal difficulty, so you would need a group for it or someone high enough level to carry you through.
    Unlike wow, you can actually level sync correctly the difficult content in this game (especially with minimum ilvl no echo), which make them fun to prog but also quite hard.
    As a rule of thumb, you are unlikely to get a queue to pop even after hours for any content dubbed Coils, (savage), (extreme), minstrel ballad, ultimate. It is the hard content of this game and you will need to use party finder or unsync to do it.

    • @MrSuperSanderDev
      @MrSuperSanderDev  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That's good to know! We will definitely try out the raids once we unlock those :)
      When we are experienced enough we can always try some harder difficulties. Anything we can queue up for we will do, unless the queue literally takes hours like you stated for some.
      For those raids, what do people usually recommend ilvl wise? We can prob fix that before we unlock those raids (or get it as close as possible).
      Thanks for the detailed comment! We are looking forward for those raids :)

      @@MrSuperSanderDev Alliance is ilv70-90 and the normal raid is ilv70-123. I wouldn't worry too much about it since you still have a little ways to go and you'll acquire gear as you play from quests and dungeons. You'll also have the opportunity to buy your capstone gear after you finish 2.0 that'll carry you through all of it

    • @MrSuperSanderDev
      @MrSuperSanderDev  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh that's really nice. How is that gear curve actually? In the sense that does it get replaced fast in the next expansion (Heavensward I suppose)? If we consider that I get that capstone gear.

    • @marcmad55
      @marcmad55 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MrSuperSanderDev Once you finish 2.0, you get access to a vendor that trade you ironwork gear for tomestones. It give you ilvl 130 gear which is the best gear you can get at level 50. It will also be better than any gear you get until around level 55. You get tomestones really fast by doing roulettes but there is a 2000 cap. Once you get that gear, you won't have to worry about gearing at all. It is the same thing for every expansion until the current expansion, whose gear is a bit harder to get.
      Raids are released in 3 parts during 3 patches, and each goes along better gear for an increase of ilvl.
      The regular sync put you at the maximum item level you can have for that level, which is 130 for lvl 50. What this mean is that the content for the first and second part will be made easier by a stronger gear as you just overgear it.
      To counter that, it is possible to activate the minimum ilvl setting, which will synchronize ilvl of the gear of your party to the minimum required to enter the fight
      To help people clear faster, the echo was added after a while. The echo give a bonus to all your stats, making fights easier. Some fight start with maximum echo, other give you more and more as you wipe to a fight. It is also possible to disable the echo to make the fight harder
      It's really on you on how you want to tune the difficulty, just remember that fights released earlier into the lifecycle of of the patches will be easier due to overgearing than the later ones and that you cannot queue for those fights if you activate those settings (need party finder).

      If you get poetic gear they are good for about half the expansion, then they become less useful. A good rule of thumb is reaching the next expansion, around level 55 or later msq quest is a good time to start getting equipment or save up poetics for the next poetics gear. You can live with the level 50 poetics gear but will be a bit harder to complete some duty quest.( this is how I did it and it worked well enough. It is up to you if you do want to upgrade).

    “We will complete the main story of a real reborn even if we don’t need it”
    Oh you poor, innocent child. The MSQ is not optional. And you’re class quests for 51 onwards are Progression locked.
    That being said, this is the part where I’m going to suggest you pick up a second class after your main hits 50.
    It’s not mandatory, but there are parts of the story in later expansions that are locked behind role types, and given that you already have Magic DPS and Healer covered by Summoner and Scholar, maybe grab a Physical DPS like Lancer or a Tank like Gladiator?

    • @MrSuperSanderDev
      @MrSuperSanderDev  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I was actually thinking about one of those two! How would you lvl those with the msq? Ain't that locked behind a lvl 50 requirement?

    • @JackWolf1
      @JackWolf1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@MrSuperSanderDev You can pick up new classes in the main city states:
      Marauder, Rogue, and Archanist (which you are on) can be picked up in Limsa Lominsa;
      Lancer, Archer, and Conjurer are found in Gridania;
      And Gladiator, Pugilist, and Thaumaturge make their home in Ul’dah.
      Later expansions also add new Jobs:
      Heavenward added Dark Knight, Machinist, and Astrologian, which are available after you start the expansion (and start at level 30).
      Stormblood added Samurai and Red Mage, which are available in Ul’dah after you hit level 50 (and start at said level).
      Shadowbringers added Gunbreaker to Gridania and Dancer to Limsa, both starting and available at level 60.
      Endwalker added Reaper to Ul’dah and Sage to Limsa starting at level 70.
      As it stands, the Heavensward classes are the only ones locked behind Progression, as it was their first attempt at adding new stuff, with everything else only requiring you to hit the required level (and own the expansion they belong to I think)
