Of course, it was the original Gundam and the design was rather simplistic compared to all it's successors. It's the same for all the prototype characters that begin a genre: Superman, Mazinger Z, the G1 Transformers, etc.
I like to think that Amuro ended up on missions with most of them at least once, without them knowing who it was. Like that one episode of Gundam Evolve that got whole-cloth stolen to make the plot of Unicorn. XD
I always thought of the RX-78 series taking up a ton of the EFF's resources. Bad enough that they had to rush the GM series to counter Zeon's Zakus, but getting all of these Gundams developed, tested, and rolled out? Maybe they could of done it. 🤷♂️ Situations happen too. The Gundam Alex was meant for Amuro as an upgrade, but got destroyed in a battle by the test pilot. Which she had no choice. The best laid plans go awry. Even if the EFF/EFSF had these units, it doesn't mean they would of been able to get them all together in one squad. Or if they would get destroyed in sorties before A Baoa Qu. They weren't invincible. Depends on the pilot as well. Amuro was the savior of the EFF and they got incredibly lucky he stumbled across the suit that one fateful day.

In order of appearance: RX-78-2 Gundam, RGM-79SP GM Sniper "White Dingo Custom", RX-78NT Gundam "Alex", RX-79BD-1 Blue Destiny Unit 1, & the RX-79[G] Gundam Ground Type.
Honestly, the only one that would really be a game-changer would be the NT-1. The RX-79 [G] wasn't THAT much of a step up from the GM [G]. Notably, it's the suit famous for getting decapitated by an Acguy. Plus, if this were a series, Zeon looks like they'd have their act together, as well, so they'd be more tactical in MS deployment (instead of rapidly spitting prototypes alone into the field), and potentially have their aces unified (all of whom individually gave Amuro trouble, and he's probably the strongest pilot of the group)
@@ericmurotake5180 GM sniper 2 and Blue destiny more likely also could be game changer too, since GM sniper 2 performance actually exceed Rx 78 2 and blue destiny unit with exam system actually kinda nuts

I think this is possible in some of the Super Robot Wars games, but sadly most of them have not been translated into english yet since they're so heavy on text.
@@jordancarl1895 Depends on a few things. In this setting, looks like Zeon is much more competent (multiple MS types coordinating), and may have their aces working in unison, which could end badly for the group. If they're up against a group of aces (notably, we're seeing the Tri-stars, Char, Ral, M'Quve, and Shin Matsunaga (the white Zaku II)), each of whom almost beat Amuro... could get ugly

+Char Aznable Well in this game, yes. So it implies the potential possibility that they may've met in some mannerism at some point during the Universal Century when they all were still alive. The Gundam Universe is vast, and the chronological timelines such as the Universal Century were only read from the book so much to us. There's probably a lot of the book behind the scenes with the Gundam franchise with most of their calendar-eras (aka timelines) that haven't been written in full yet. Thus we can only speculate what all has happened. Shiro may've been from or visited the colony Amuro resided on with his father prior to jumping on the Whitebase. Who knows, we sure as well won't until it's officially stated, publicly written in a novel (aka manga), or released in some other mannerism confirming such as an audio-drama, animated series/OVA or a film. Until then no one will be able to give you an answer that has any backing evidence.
@GalacticCrafter If you're asking what is going to continue the 00 timeline, there currently aren't any plans to continue it.
