  • Today we are back out fishing walleyes with slip bobbers in Northern Wisconsin. The bite has just kicked off and fishing is good. This video is all about slip bobber fishing for early summer walleyes. I talk about where to find walleyes, how we find them, how we position on them and the ins and outs of slip bobbing. We are riggings up with leeches as they are the preferred live bait this time of year. Early summer is one of my favorite times to be walleye fishing and hopefully this video was beneficial to you!

    Got these thinking they were the slightly larger Panfish floats th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU they work just fine. The smaller size lets me carry more in my tackle box, and the 3 color choices are nice for different lighting conditions, backgrounds, etc. They aren't the most durable things in the world. But, as cheap as they are, it's not heartbreaking to lose one or have to replace a worn one. The price on these fluctuates wildly, from about $9 to almost $16. So, time your buy accordingly.

    The leader has zero stretch to it th-cam.com/users/postUgkxOnWw4BwVtrW450xWozo3OpVX4931NDw5 which is expected from a wire leader. Can’t test the quality of all the snaps yet but packaging was nice and neat and I couldn’t get anything to happen when I pulled on it.

    Tom, your vids are so helpful. Was in Northern MN this weekend and had more success after switching from minnows (caught nothing but Northerns). Switched to leeches in 10-12' and caught my biggest of the year, so far, a chunky 24" walleye. You are helping me use my graph better, to locate places. Keep up the good work!

    *These are easy to use and highly visible **enjoyable.fishing** recommend they are extremely valuable for going from a dead drift set up to a float setup. They save time and you don't have to re-tie everything to add a float to your presentation.*

    Hey, love these videos. You’re giving me so many great tips and tricks to be a better walleye angler. I’m not very good but have caught a couple. Could you maybe do a quick video on your 2 graph setup? Why do you use 2 of them? How do you have them hooked up? Are running 2 transducers or just 2? Are they networked? Again thank you for the awesome content! From a Michigan Angler,
    Alex

    Hi Tom, love your video! Just got home from a week at lake Osakis mn.Had a tough week, Windy about all week, bath time if you went out In the boat.Finally, got a day to get out to my previous way points. Got our there and saw my screen was full of fish. I put my slipbobber away and dropped my crappie jig down,immediately tap tap, set the hook, 4 " perch. Thought that's why nobody I talked to from my resort was catching any walleyes. buffets open !! Wish you was there with me to help me on what to do, or which other presentation to try. I tried, slip bombers, pulling lindy rig, and even tried raps. caught many northern but I don't like Northern. Ending the week by riding around to see anything I might have missed. Saw a group of boats so cruised over by them, put on my spotlock,caught my first eye, 14" so it went back, caught another 15" so it went in the box. Had to quit as my lisc. was about to expire,( just when things were looking good) so fished until 12:00 am, and that was the end of my week. So, until next year, see ya all you 18's 19's and bigger,next year. think I'll go earlier next year. Oh, Tom, did I see you sat. on I 35 around Minneapolis sat?I about ran up to you but you was making tracks.Thanks for the tips, I'll keep watching and learning from you! Bless you! Brian Lomen

Any advice to mid summer flowage fishing and another bummer is there is usually a May fly hatch around this time. What can we do to up our numbers???? One thing I think you should mention when slip bobbering with braided line, is that you should use a heavier braid line for your Slipknot. Otherwise braided line that is too thin, the knot just slides. Actually two beads works good too, in case the knot slips through the first bead!

    Hey so what is it that helps you determine if you want to fish in the shallows with the slip bobber or the jig minnows? I'm in Wa on the Columbia and typically (so far) run only bottom bouncers and a lure behind it. I have the understanding that you only fish shallows in the evening... like night fishing with cranks. I'm new to this stuff of you can't tell. Thx in advance. You channel is great.

    • @TomBoley

      Every lake is different. Seasonally lure preference changes. Early spring is normally minnows. Summer is normally crawlers or leeches for me.

    Tom, I gotta ask you. When your side imaging (or bottom for that matter) are you keeping your speed under 3mph? I have read that if you keep it under 3mph you don't loose detail. Also, how far out do you have your side imaging set too? I have also read to keep it under 60 Feet? Your response is very much appreciated. Love the vid brother! Keep em coming. Later

    • @bigz5262
      @bigz5262 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Keep your chart speed setting the same as your boat speed. If you’re going 3mph set your chart speed to 3. I have the distance set to 50 feet but I just have a helix 7. If you have a bigger unit you can go farther out with the same detail

    • @luca4741
      @luca4741 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bigz5262 Hey man. Wow, I have never heard you should drop your screen speed match your boat speed. Normally we keep the chart speed cranked to get the most "in real time" info possible. Will have to give that a try next time I'm out. Actually, I have a Gen 2 Helix 7 also. I was told 60 maybe 70 feet max. Your saying 50 feet max? Let me know. Thanks

    • @bigz5262
      @bigz5262 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @lushis v that’s just what I run because that’s where I see the most detail and it’s easier for me to see fish. If you’re seeing seeing fish at 60-70 feet then you should keep it that way. It also depends on what I’m doing. If it’s a big sandy flat with not much for structure then I’ll turn it up more
