    You are quickly becoming my favorite TH-cam angler. This is the kind of video I appreciate...instructional and informative. You come off as a great guy and I appreciate the humbleness of your approach. Thanks for the great videos and keep up the good work....much appreciated by someone learning to walleye fish after years of bass fishing.

It felt a little weird not having a bunch of fish catches in the video, but it was already going to be pretty dang long (even after cutting things way down) just trying to get all the important info in there. Still trying to find that happy balance haha! Appreciate you watching and hope it helps 👊

    I missed your face lately! Glad to see a new video! It's funny to hear that slip bobbers are the drop shot of the walleye world, since so many people are now catching walleye on drop shots too! But I'm going to re-set my bobber rod, because in my kayak, keeping on the move to look for walleye is enough to feel like I'm actually getting exercise at the same time!

    Hey Brett, great video. I absolutely love slip bobber fishing, because it makes fishing VISUAL. There's nothing that gets your heart racing like seeing a bobber disappear. I've always used mono because I didn't think tying a bobber stop to braid would work. I didn't think that a bobber stop would be adjustable when tied to braid. But you say it works well?

    • @TargetWalleye
      @TargetWalleye  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Absolutely! That feeling never gets old, and is 110% amplified when you know it's a walleye taking it down. The combo I talked about in the video works GREAT for me. I'm constantly adjusting depth up and down with it and don't have any issues with the stop sliding (unwanted slides when fighting a fish and the knot hits the rod tip) or not sliding (when wanting to make adjustments). I'm running 8-lb Sufix 832 braid and those Thill Premium Bobber Stops. Make sure you try the chapstick trick 😏. Thx much for watching!

    Brett, great video, lots of tips and tricks. You did an excellent job going into great detail. My? Question is when you say you use 8lb Suffix 832 do you mean 8 pound mono equivalent or 8lb Braid? I believe 8lb Braid is 3lb mono equivalent, and that would cause the slip knot more likely to slide cause it's too thin to bite into the Braid. Thanks

    I am going to try plastic leeches on a slip bobber. I have seen some videos where people use a single hook but hook through the thin part of the leech rather than the fat part. Any thoughts? Thanks....great video.

    • @TargetWalleye
      @TargetWalleye  ปีที่แล้ว

      For whatever reason I just never had much luck using plastic leeches on a slip-bobber. Would catch a couple fish when it was windy enough to keep them moving on their own. The thinner the plastic leech the better as it has more natural action, the thicker ones aren't usually fluid enough and look unnatural. I have heard GREAT things from folks who use artificial leeches made by a company called "Slimers." I plan to play with them some 3" and 4" versions of them this year.

    Have you thought about using rubber bobber stops?

    • @TargetWalleye
      @TargetWalleye  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sooooo I tried them way back in the day...and when setting for deeper water, my line would snag/catch on them in the spool while trying to cast. But I haven't tried one in probably 18 years, so maybe it's time I give some of the newer versions a shot again. Do you have any experience with them? And if so, is there anything you specifically do not like about them??

    • @TroutFink
      @TroutFink ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TargetWalleye I do have experience with rubber bobber stops and have tried several different brands and some were definitely better than others. Ive had rubber stops sliding in colder waters and other brands degraded in sun in less than a day & have had the stoppers that literally degraded in my tackle box in less than a year. Eagle claw has a rubber stopper that will last a couple of hard days at the lake and won’t dry out for several seasons just sitting in your tack box. Fits tight to fluorocarbon line and is smooth when adjusted. Worth the try after 18 years. 👍
