    Awesome video. Took a little over an hour and worked like a charm. If schools would teach kids like you did this video we would have much smarter kids.

    We have a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT with the power sliding doors. The passenger side sliding door lock doesn’t lock when we press the key fob door lock. all other doors lock except this one. We have to manually reach in and press the door lock button down. Is this the same repair procedure? Thanks for any clarification

    The problem is how to replace the door cover and the actuator when the door is in the locked position and won’t open neither from inside or outside. How do you go about to open the door first.

      Hi Rodolfo Colino, it sounds like either your lock actuator is jammed or you have a problem with the latch mechanism. I've had this type of issue before and it was the actuator, the gears internally break and then bind so the latch will not unlock. Start with removing the door panel as I show in the video at 0:37 or 3:49 depending on the side giving you problems . It's certainly more difficult but it can be done. Next, try to manually move the rod I show at 10:52. If you can't move it then the next step I would take would be to remove the actuator so it frees up your latch. If your issue is on the driver side you have easy access to the set screw I show at 9:49, if your issue is on the passenger side then you will need to carefully drill a hole in the door right in front of the set screw. I discuss this option at 7:45. Once you remove the actuator from the latch you should be able to reach in there and unlock the latch directly then perform your repair. I hope this helps, if it doesn't fix your problem get back with me. Good luck with your project!

    Well, you were 100% right, the sliding door cover can be removed even with the door closed if done carefully. I also was able to open the door, I pushed the lock handle towards the front of the car, that is the position to unlock the door and have my wife from the outside to jerk on the door handle and it opened I did this also from the inside using the inside handle and opened but it wouldn’t do it automatically. I took the cover off and Began to move the wire rod back and forth and it would not give, as you said something was jamming the actuator, so I left it alone out of frustration, I went the following day and did it again this time I jerked forcefully back and forth and I heard a noise something snapped inside the actuator and the door began to retract on its own automatically, so I hooked up the rod back on the inside handle and worked it several times and it’s been working normally ever since. I put everything back and everything is ok now, I guess I was lucky I was just about to go to some body shops to get few estimates I know you saved me no less than 700 hundred dollars. Thanks to your instructional videos, keep the good work, thanks a million.

      Awesome Rudy! Sounds like you have the power sliding option. Double check your door lock function. Don't want to be a downer here but a "snapping" sound is not normal so something gave. :) I am willing to bet your actuator was locked up (no pun intended). If it's working now keep an eye on it as it will likely need replacing very soon. I have a link in the description where you can get one. I highly recommend the Dorman brand, it's a bit more money but it's worth it to not have to do the job again in 6 months. Let me know if I can help you with this or anything else with your van, these are my specialty and I'm happy to help you. Have a great day! PS -Thank you for getting back with me and providing an update, much appreciated!

      @@javosgarage Hey, Javo I replaced the actuator on the driver's side sliding door, but it will not open. Lock will go up and down now but the door will not open. Any suggestions? Thanks

    Awesome video! I was curious if anyone had an issue of the lock not going all the way up/down? When I test it on the actuator it moves fine but was I get everything back on it looks like it gets stuck

    Thanks for the video and clear instructions, with the video shot of inside the door with where the rod connects to green actuator clip! Do you happen to know if this part also works with the 2012 Chrysler Town and Country? It appears it does but some site say yes and others say no.

      I'm sorry Dave I can't say with absolute certainty, but I believe it does. I just did a quick search on Advance's website for you and it shows two possible actuators: 1. Dorman 746-259 that fits an 05 & 12 and 2. DLC1035 that only fits the 05, NOT the 12. I'm not sure if the difference is in the design of the part or a variable in the vehicles. I honestly tend to think there is a difference in the design of the two parts. In other words, my guess is the 746-259's design allows for a broader range of applications. Hope that helps you a bit. I'm sorry for the delayed response, I've been away from YT for a little bit.

    We have the 2006 C.T&C Touring. We've been told by many people that the power sliding doors on this particular model only manually lock from inside; and that the (locking actuators) as you call them only make sure to hold the door in a closed firm position nothing to do with actually locking them.
    Is there away to be able to use the key fob to lock the sliding doors along with the front and rear door?

    Had my actuator replaced and now my window doesn’t roll up unless I do it from the front door. Are these related? Did the tech miss something? I had the shop do the work and they messed up another part as well. I’m nervous to take it back to their shop.

    Does this video apply to the 2011 Town & Country?

    • @javosgarage
      @javosgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Todd Fahr - Hi Todd. I'm sorry but this repair does not apply to a 2011. Dodge/Chrysler went to an entirely different setup in 2008. I understand the probably did to save money on manufacturing and assembly possibly but it's a much more involved process in the newer vans. I hope to make a video of it one day to save people some headaches when trying to figure it out. Thanks for stopping by!

    I'm not sure if the back doors lock properly 🤔. Is this a common issue ? I Google how to lock town & County. I got videos about to remove/ fix the doors? Did I just buy someone else problems?😭
