Washing Machine Door Seal Deep Clean - FULL Step-by-Step Walkthrough and Reassembly

- Demonstration showing how to clean the large circular door seal of washing machine (including how to reinstall the difficult INNER SPRING AND OUTER SPRING). Cleaning the seal is needed to remove mildew/mold growth on the seal.
Tool Needed: Spring expansion tool (I used this one, but note it might not work for Bosch washers: www.amazon.com..., Phillips-drive screwdriver, small ratchet (a.k.a. socket wrench) with 10 mm socket, Needle-nose pliers, Cleaning liquid (such as bleach), Large bucket, Rubber gloves, Rag
Unplug washing machine. Open washer door, then use spring tool to expand and remove the outer spring clip from the front of the seal. Unseat the front seal lip using your fingers and expose drain hose at bottom. Use needle nose pliers to move clip securing hose, then take hose off of seal. Next, to access the inner spring, remove the top of the washer by removing 2 Phillips-drive screws from the rear of the top panel, then slide off and up. Then, remove 4 hex-head screws holding the black weight to the top-front of the drum (hold the weight while doing this), and remove the weight. Now, with the inner spring visible, remove it with the spring tool. Finally, pull the seal out of the washing machine by hand and soak/clean in a bucket with water and cleaner. I used bleach, but you can use vinegar or another mold-killing solution. NEVER mix bleach and vinegar together as this is toxic.
To reinstall the seal, first fit it by hand onto the drum. Then, with the inner spring hook closed, use the spring tool to move the spring into position. Reattach the drain hose that was removed before. Next, reattach the weight with the 4 hex screws. Then, fit the outer seal by hand onto the washer and use the spring tool to put the clip on. Finish up by installing the top panel with the 2 Phillips screws.
