My Tiguan makes the same noise. Listen to that noise from under the car. Most of the noise is heard from under the car, where the transmission is attached to the engine. The torque converter is most likely the source of the noise.

Well, I would say automatic as you say torque converter... my Audi A5 with same engine and noise has manual gearbox so chances that my dual flywheel and your torque converter are making same noise are... however noise is coming from that side of the engine🤷‍♂️

@@atdr2130 Thanks for the link as I found it very interesiting and new to me however still do not explain why some cars expierience these noises as low as 4500-18000 miles or 64000 when I first noitced at mine? Why noise last only for so short period of time and goes away once engine start to warms up but too quick for gearbox/clutch to warm up with the engine? Also around 0°C outside I can hardly here but as it is warmer outside it is more noticeable... I have also noticed that if you unplug piston jet oil cooling valve (the one just underneeth the oil filter) this noise do not occure almost indicating the oil preassure issue... however I have checked oil pressure with gauage and it is as it should and no light on dashboard and/or error codes... Mind blowing and year, many parts and loads of money later I'm still not sure what cause this tapping noise...🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

@@wojciechhanus1017 The noise in my Tiguan started when it was only about 500 miles, now it has 5000 miles and the noise is noticeable even when the car is fully warmed up. In my case the problem is definitely in the torque converter.
Does the engine rpm change when the piston oil cooling valve is unplugged? I think it should be disabled by default when the engine is cold and activated when the engine warms up.
