you can purchase the demo model. I’ve had my xc40 r-design with the hood flag for a month now. So far best car I ever owned.

Not at the present time !! these are made in Belgium, possibly in the future they might be made China too, but that will be for the Chinese market.

I ordered mine back in December under the plan Cary By Volvo. The vehicle arrived to USA in March. 3 months from March and I will finally get it tomorrow. The customer service was the worse. People cancelling their orders. Zero responses. They promised so many diff delivery date....it was... A PAIN in the trunk. I hope the vehicle is good as all the professional reviewers says.

I love mine. 21 inscription. I already put 10000 miles on it in two months. My ONLY complaints are the premium gas required and on the highway I’m only averaging 25 mpg nowhere close to the 30 mpg epa estimate on the highway. I’m a commuter so the 5 mpg difference gets very expensive

Fantastic revue Micah and amazing car!
The design of the dash fitments looks to have come straight from the mid-Century (circa 1950) movement. The air vents, the aluminum trim, and the shape of the frame surrounding the touchscreen would not have been out of place on a mid-century kitchen appliance; given the design goals of said movement, that's not a bad thing. I like it!

Blind spots are just as bad in a Lexus RX 350 we have one.

Micah!! :). Excellent review of the 2019 Volvo XC40, I really like that Volvo has this CUV as an option. However, the blind spots are concerning, and I wonder if designers were aware when they planned this vehicle. I'm already looking forward to your review of the 2019 Volvo S60, so excited. Also, you got a friend here in Massachusetts.

Ricky Logan Jr. The car has huge side mirrors and with BLIS (if equipped), 99% of the time you’ll have good visibility.

@@VL1975 Just because people watch him and hes good at selling the product IF he likes it doesnt mean he does good reviews.Hes very biased in alot of his reviews,he doesnt look at alot of very important categories and he rates everything on a scale of 1-10 with 10 usually being the standard of a million dollar car.The only reason ive ever watched one of his "reviews" is to see the car and how it sounds/drives.His "reviews" are basically just him talking about quirks and features of the car,ignoring every other category and then going on to see how fast it accelerates and how loud the exhaust is

Nicholas Grebenschikov I drive the XC40 regularly and the blind spots aren’t any problem.
The blind spots aren’t as bad is this makes it seem, they aren’t bad enough to be an issue. Compared to my previous jeep Cherokee I hardly notice a difference.

I had a mid engine lotus, you don't know what blind spot is when you think XC40 has one
Pretty good car. But having driven quite a few of them the interior is noticebly worse quality-wise than the XC60 despite having similar price, at least here in Sweden. Also, nice stuff like laminated windows, B&W stereo and ventilated seats are absent from the options list. Love the fact that it has wireless charging though. But I'll take a XC60 in any trim over an XC40.
Martin H I agree, it almost doesn’t feel like a Volvo. It’s a bit different than the other models and not in a good way. I also think it’s a bit overpriced.
Laminated glass is standard for the windshield and panoramic roof glass, and side windows are laminated with UV protection as standard on all 3 trim levels (Momentum, R-Design, and Inscription) per Volvo.
I'm not saying you are wrong, but there is no indication anywhere on either the American or the Swedish website that the XC40 has laminated side and rear windows. Also, all Volvos that have laminated windows have a special symbol with a hammer being hit against glass and I have looked at several XC40s of all trim levels and they do not have this symbol. So I think that the information you are getting from Volvo is not correct.
For the same price, the Limited trim of the new Hyundai Santa Fe has a normal gear shift, thigh extenders on seats, reclining back seats, and is a few inches longer. Same horsepower etc. All safety and bells and whistles. The XC40 looks nice on the outside but that gimmick gear shift is ridiculous and I expected more niceties from a Volvo.
I think it looks really tidy. That shifter would drive me bonkers. It’s just not logical. If anything you should have to double tap for neutral. I can’t remember the last time I put an AT in neutral.
Daniel Collin It’s super easy, from P...to taps to either D or R. I learned it the first drive.
I think its the best looking out of all those competitors you mentioned. Except maybe the Jaguar E-Pace.

Removable trash bin is neat, only volvo I would ever buy would be a wagon and thats too much money unfortunately
This would be worth it in cheapest form ($34k USA) if it had adaptive cruise control standard, like in Toyota RAV4 and Subaru Outback. No excuse for a so-called safety-conscious car maker to not have ACC standard.
