RIGHT-ON ( D )!!! Always good to see your mom and pop ( the Back 40 Seniors )... I use to hunt for useable ( downed ) burch trunks with my grandpa to make advent logs for church. And now you're going to make holiday boxes for Thanx-givin' & Christmas patio parties... How cool... We went to the woods last week end and harvested 12 standing dead pine, God i realy need a splitter now. Not only that but we have a semi load of oak commin' too, ( around 75 to 85 - 10-footers )... gotta keep every one warm and happy. Wish me luck... We're goin' to visit grandkids in october, I'll probably get a box store splitter. Stay cool brother... peace...
Great Video! Family is everything. Awesome that you and your parents were splitting firewood together. I always say that splitting firewood is the fountain of youth. 🇺🇸🇺🇸 🪵🪓🪵🪓🪵🪓🪵🪓🌲🌲🌲💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
Great Video Dan of Your Mom and Dad. Great doing by giving your Folks a Fantastic Wolfridge Log Splitter. I think your Mom will be Running that Machine. I have to tell you that in the very near Future I am going to get one. When you go to the Paul Bunyan Show this year Please tell Bob Nelson a Big Hello for me and will be in touch with him on getting the Splitter. I can not make Bunyan this year but will try to a Sometime. Heavy Heart on not being able to Attend such a great event and Meeting all you Great Woodhounds. Stay Safe, see you at the Next Video my Friend. Ron from the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY.
I'll say hi to Bob and let him know....yep my Mom is looking forward to running the Wolfe Ridge. They do a little each day and so the log lift and splitter should make it a little easier for them.
83F and humid yesterday. Yellow jackets were swarming, one went down my shirt! Those oaks at Seniors place are going to make many many cords of wood. As far as your hickory goes..... BBQ/Smoker guys should be all over hickory for smoking meat/fish. Restaurants too. I like my smoking wood bark free, but I notice the BBQ places will use pieces with bark, so, when you are processing, save the bark pieces to the side and someone may take them "as the are". Enjoy!!!
Yeah the warm weather have the bugs out like crazy...really looking forward to a good cold snap so can be done with them...lol. I wasn't aware of the bark thing for smoking....thanks for that feedback. 👍
Love some white birch and so do my customers. I've found splitting it in the summer or warm months it will get mold spots on it. Best worked up in the winter.
a short 3point boom on Sr little blue would be real handy I made one for my 1720 only around 3ft long so you have good balance use chains or log tongs you will be amazed at what that little tractor can do helps pull tops into the open so us old guys aren't tripping in the brush just a thought have a great day
We can usually get the trees pulled out no problem, just wouldn't be able to load or lift logs up. Usually for pulling trees out he'll use the John Deere 4010.
Not only will your parents get physical exercise, but the mental portion of how best to split up the larger rounds will keep them thinking. Kind of like doing puzzles, but in reverse.
The back 40 is similar to the 17-acre property I cut on. At 1st, when i started cutting there, it was for down trees from a tornado. Now I cut dead oaks.....I have probably 100 to choose from. BTW, get your dad some new gloves!!😅
lol...as long as the finger tips are intact he keeps wearing those gloves. My neighbor's woods are the same...11 acres and standing dead Oaks everywhere.
Dan the Man, Back 40 bark thrower!! So cool to watch your mom and dad having fun with your old splitter.
Good seeing mom and dad working together.... rare sight these days. Getting those oaks on the ground will be fun.
Days with family like that are the days I like the very most! Enjoy the time with family.
Same here...doesn't matter how much gets done, just enjoy the time.

Holy moly you're gonna be busy splitting up all that wood....you are definitely shifting into Wood Hound mode now!!
Nice Dan. Great to see your folks so engaged in the vids and the wood.
I think it's great that your parents are going to be using your old splitter 😊 Good video 👍
The log lift will be the biggest asset for them, before they'd try to use the loader bucket.
Dan,looks like 👍 mom and dad are going to have some fun 🤩 with your old splitter on the farm 😮😊❤

Same here with my red oaks, spotty trees, good Family video👏🏻👍🇺🇸
I think on my little 2 acres now all the Red Oaks are dead standing...should keep me busy for a while this winter. 😀
Hi Dan That Woodridge Really Made a Difference Splitting The firewood Fast 4 Peaces in One Split Pretty 😎
Great video…love that splitter…I like it for home use and too the lift !!
The log lift is a feature they'll enjoy the most I think.
Family time is always a good time!! I bet the green house is gonna smell great with those chunks in there
Good times for sure in the Back 40...lol...that's one thing surprising with the Shagbark Hickory...I think it smells like 💩 hahahaha
Dan walkin around counting money. I mean checking out dad’s poor trees. 😉
There's a LOT of firewood standing back there in the forest that's for sure.
Wow Nice Dan the White Birch will give Some Blue flame for the Mini Firewood Splits 👍 and the Hickory Should and a different Smell and Heat As well 👍

That's Awesome!!!
enjoy it brother
That's a bummer on the Oak Wilt. But definitely, some good firewood is there.😉👍
Oak wilt is not good, but also keeps supplying plenty of firewood year to year and makes deciding what trees to take down easier...lol

Hopefully things cool off now and these 80 degree days are done as I was planning on splitting this birch up next week.

And being able to split into 4 instead of just 2 big chunks helps as well for handling the re-splits.

That should make their life a lot easier…
The only problem I saw at the farm is that you didn't have a carport to nail with that bark.
Bill
Hahahahaha...I threw those few pieces back and hit that tree each time! 😀🍻
