That sounds like an incredible challenge and an amazing culinary adventure! Embracing the flavors and traditions of South Indian cuisine for a full day is a wonderful way to immerse yourself in the region's rich culinary heritage.
Jowar roti is rough in appearance but very healthy and digestive , widely eaten in north karnataka , southern Maharashtra ..!! Keep exploring...Very nice..!!💕💐
i am gujarati; indian living in los-angeles; california; america. i love south indian food. when-ever i go india bazar area i go to udupi restauran to eat dosa. at home i keep frozen idali-sambhar in deep-freeze and once a week eat idali-sambhar without fail
You really add flavour to the meals by the way you try the different items on the thali. Nice having you enjoying South Indian meals. The way you describe is just superb.
I am not sure for how long you have been in India but the way you are digging in, it looks you are 100% local and you grasped everything so quickly even though India is very diverse.
We visit a small tuck shop called Siri for North Karnataka food. Another of my favourite is Holige Mane for Holige, Mandige, Sajappa and other sweets. I don't know if you have a sweet tooth. The Millet Roti looks great.
Thank you for your honest review of Indian food and your obsession for the same. Also appreciate your in-depth understanding on each element of food. Thanks once again. Love you much God bless you
Nimma Local chai Coffee Aur O - Restaurant looks damn cool & interior is outstanding , food also seems to be delicious so no doubt of me visitin when I come india love from UAE🇦🇪 Being Indian 🇮🇳
I am eating it for the last 25 yrs and it's scientifically proven to be the most healthy and balanced food u can get. Common sense would u prefer a stale burger pizza or a freshly cooked food.
You definitely try Halli Mane(@malleshwaram), SLV corner(basavanagudi), mallika biryani, chickpet biryani, vv puram chat street, MTR, vidyarthi bhavan! I will wait for vlogs on these must go places!
The mystery vegetable looks like a vegetable called kovekya or baby gourd. It is a cousin of the cucumber. The flesh is often reddish, or green in color sometimes with large seeds. After cooking can become really soft, sometimes has a gently tangy flavor.
Ivana, by your expressions one can clearly tell how Karnataka has become your second home. I'm glad you tried Nalapaka, that's one of my favourite hotels (mess). You should try Davangere benne dosa (Davangere is the name of a city in Karnataka, benne means butter) sometime. The idli you had was thatte (plate) idli. That's bigger as well as the softest of idlis. The fake okra palya (😂) was ivy gourd, we call it thondekai in Kannada. ♥️
u r saying podi perfectly. how long u have been in india. paripu, papad aloo gobi, sambar almost all are perfectly pronounced. but podi impressed me. most of foreigners say porri
Idly, dosa, upama, medu vada, uttapam, sambhar & rasam are all my favorites. I can eat it any time of the day. Breakfast, brunch or snack. The most healthy food option available to u.
16:49 that mysterious vegetable is nothing but Ivy Gourd (Coccinia grandis) stir fry. Please do visit to Mangalore once and try coastal cuisine as well. Don't go to cozy hotels. Try food in small hotels, restaurants.
I only have one question: Why do you say you are a foreigner when you are in Indian? You have clearly a distinct Indian accent? Are you ashamed to be an Indian? I am a foreigner vlogging in Indian and I find it a great country.
@@IvanaPerkovicOfficialI love how you've mastered the pronunciation of South Indian dishes so well. But you definitely don't look or sound like an Indian. You do have a distinct non-Indian accent. I am new to your channel and an Indian btw.
It sounds so great that she has such amazing pronunciation of the dishes. I am not all that speak the right language guy but I really like to hear the right words when said though.
That idli at Rameshwaram is a Karnataka classic, called Tatte Idle (tatte means plate, which is why it is larger than the standard idli) and the ferment is longer which is why it is also more gelatinous than the standard idli!
no other words by this time I'm typing, I'm literally drooling from my mouth,,,,ahhhh man south Indian foooodd,,,, soo much to try, so many flavors, and yet light on stomach...................you too have fallen under the spell of South Indian food my friend, good luck trynna escape it 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Idly is big because it is TATTE (Plate) Idly. In my younger days, we used to wait for train travel passing through Tumkur becuase we used to get Tatte Idly near Kyatsandra (along with spicy lemon rice). Not any more, we have so many Tatte Idly points now.
17:57 Ivana saying not spicy to a north karnataka should encourage everyone out their trying out north karnataka food (especially when everyone complain so). Ivana u could checked out how they make jowar rotis, it would have been a great learning experience.
most foreign people are introduced to Indian food but without any help or information on how to eat Indian food. But still some how they like the taste. That's a good thing.

Wow such diversity within Southern India itself even the natives wouldn't be aware of something like this existed 😮...Amazing and Interesting!!👍👌
This diversity is within Karnataka not SI

I am a Tamilian. I can comfortably say that any food from Bengaluru represents the entire taste and smell of South India.
No it's not but being a big city you can find all kinds of food
I think you can say bengaluru has most of south indian food as there are lot of tamilians and Andhra ppl.
But kerala food is not as common.
I admire you trying out these and eating it with your hands! 😊 Fyi, buttermilk - the one you call chaas is 'Majji-ge' in Bengaluru/Kannada.

We always start with dal, then sambar, rasam and then curd. We take vegatable, potato sabjis in between.
In South India it's called as "mor" As it's different from North Indian chaas the seasoning is different
