  • Every October, athletes from around the world converge on St. George, Utah, USA, for an event unlike any other. The Huntsman World Senior Games welcomes more than 11,000 athletes who compete in their choice of more than 30 different sports from archery to volleyball, swimming to soccer and running to rugby. But the benefits these individuals receive go beyond any single event. From physical health to mental and emotional strength, these athletes might have just discovered the secret. We call it active aging.

    Yeah turns out exercise, vitamins, and health maintenance actually work. Most people trade time for convenience. They'd rather die 5 years earlier than live differently now.

    My mom started power lifting late in life. She is 78 and until about a year ago could deadlift about 180, 175 in competition. She has stage 4 cancer now so she can’t compete in power lifting anymore. But she still goes to the gym, normally someone in her health is told don’t lift more than 10 pounds. Today she bench pressed 65. I can’t say enough about this program and how much it has helped her. I do think it is harder for athletes like my father who had personal bests during his life and has to settle for what he can do now. He should probably try a different sport. He did bowl a 299 last year. Can’t get much better than that. I’m 51 now. And I have been an athlete my entire life. I’m in good shape for my age, but not for me. I’m someone who always feels I need to get in shape to win before I even try competing and while you need to do your best, sometimes just getting out there is what you need to do. It is hard for me to train because I know I can never be what I was, but maybe I will pick a different sport too.

    @sunsioux444 ปีที่แล้ว

    loneliness and isolation are deadly and lethal. so
    why did the rulers shut off seniors during covid, isolate people, close down businesses and not let kids go to school and just as bad, they forced masks on all of us so we couldn’t breathe. Methinks something was rotten in Denmark. i am 68 and all through lockdowns, I still walked, ran, hiked because I knew fresh air, oxygen, EXERCISE and vitamin D from the sun were essential for my health. Most seniors in my community were cowering in fear, and wearing masks alone in their car. You have one life - LIVE IT! Faith overcomes fear.
