Mine did the exact same thing. I just put a washer underneath the helix so that the washer would lift the helix up some more and it works like a dream but all thanks to you because i couldnt figure out why it was making that noise

Had a question. There's 2 small metal gaskets between the clutch and the pulley. There's a thick one, and a thin one. Is the thicker one supposed to be closer to the clutch? I show you a picture although I'm not sure how to.
I just replaced both of these parts.took about 2hrs. Was not hard but not easy either. I did realize by the time i had the drum upside down,that its an unnecessary step. The black pulley can come off while its on, it has a built in escape entrance for the rod. Should have been an hour job (unless mine is a different model) . I got it to work though which is what matters

Yes! You can 't get the belt off without removing the pump on this machine. I have the same machine. They are FANTASTIC machines but those clips absolutely suck.

Thx Alex! You fix my problem, do I need grease whole shaft before reinstall pulley for smooth slide up-down of pulley?

You should indeed cut it with a saw. Anything else would not give you the same satisfaction.
