When groomers are trained I hope they see your video as some still use clippers on their backs. My cockers used to break out all sorts of bumps and sores on his back, tail, groins and under belly. Sometimes under armpits and chest depending on where the blade touched their skins. Many times I keep them home for a while and groom them myself antil their skin clears up. So thank you for this demonstration.
I do clip the back of mine but I use a 10 blade with a 4 comb so its still pretty long, than I strip her back with a stripping knife.

what a gorgeous cut and well behaved pup! also, this video is a perfect example to show people who complain about the price of grooming. Besides people not wanting to learn or do it themselves, it is a lot of time and expertise!

Thicket is just beautiful. i have an English cocker who has 1/4 American. and he actually takes so much after his American heritage. all my other spaniels have been English. but this boy is super cheeky. And we adore him.

I am never going to need to do this groom but I so enjoyed watching it. Thicket is a beautiful dog, so well maintained at home. So many tips and tricks throughout the video. Great close up work and I loved the jig during the leg bevels. Thicket so proud at the end. Lovely video. Well done ladies.

So grateful for this video!! I have two English Cocker Spaniels and it’s been impossible to find a groomer that is both accepting new clients and doesn’t want to clip their back so we’ve been doing it ourselves. The washing and carding techniques were super useful :)

Why do you want to remove the undercoat? Doesn't the undercoat help the dog regulate body temperature? I'm just curious but what a beautiful baby and calm baby!
what about when the tail is a long tail? we don't dock tails here in Australia. And although my 1 year old desexed male is a pet, I like him to look his best. But currently his tail is all long and curly. I'm not loving it honestly.
another question, yes he has been clipped, but can i start carding him, and do i have to blunt the carding tools?

I know you like the wahl KM 10-2, what about the KM Cordless 2-Speed Clipper, wondered your opinion on cordless clippers. Also, I have a 5 year old male cocker spaniel, what is the best attachment blades for clipping him?
I have both clippers and love them both. I use a seven blade to set the pattern on a cocker spaniel pet trim.
The plaits don't look right at the back, surely you could trimm with thinning shears around sanitary area?

Is all of this necessary if you don’t show your ACS? I am just learning to groom my baby girl - she’s a wreck now. I just want her the be mat free and not go wee all down her legs. I don’t think my fur child will cooperate at all.
This video is showing how to keep an ACS in the proper coat. Carding instead of clipping the coat. We have these options. Note: if you clip the coat you can never get it back to the condition needed to card.
We have a rescue black cocker.
I wish you were in our area!!! The groomers here are TERRIBLE! Some have sent him home wet and matted!!! He didn't have any mats when I dropped him off🤯
What do you charge to groom. Cocker Spaniel?
the carding knife, stripping metal stone, and chris christensen brush, are unbelievably expensive, and some are just beyond my budget. I have probably every grooming mist on the planet for his coat, the igroom will have to be on a wait-list. In the meantime, I'm using cowboy magic, Warren 10-in-1 conditioning mist (and 5 others, but they're crap, not worth mentioning).
Based on my breeder and other groomer's advice, I saved up and bought a Wahl Bravura. Frankly, I think it's crap. I don't know what the big deal is. It's NOT quiet, the blades wear out quickly (and I take care of my blades), but that's the last on my list to replace.
I know my 3-year-old's coat is being affected by clipping. But the recommended tools are just beyond my budget. Can you suggest any 2nd tier tools? Thank you
If you have already clipped the coat, then continue to do so. You will not have success recovering the coat after clipping it. So I suggest continuing. with a pet trim as you have already been doing.
Now I feel terrible😢! I searched high and low for a groomer who would strip and card him, but it was impossible.
I've always stripped his back, and sides with medium stripping and fine carding. Are you saying to not bother anymore?
@@black_sheep_nation have you clipped his jacket? Pattern? I assumed that’s what you meant when you said “I know his coat has been affected by clipping?”
If you haven’t clipped his back and down the sides, which is the jacket, then you can still card him just as shown in this video with the tools explained in this video.
