Should you upgrade your Porsche 944's ECU?

- As a follow up of my previous Porsche 944 video, we finally converted the 944 to run on the Maxxecu Street aftermarket ECU.
It took a long time because we ran into many mechanical problems with the car, but it is all solved now, and I am glad to have the car back.
So was it all worth it? Watch it to found out.

There are no rocker arms on that car. There is no valve adjustment on that car. It has hydrolic lifters. If the lifter is bad it will tick. The only possible way you could adjust valve clearance would be to shave the top of the valve stem, this would probably result in power loss throughout the powerband.
What??? Then wtf is the mechanic on about? lol
@@FizzyMotorshe is right they are hydraulic lifters no rocker arms
@@FizzyMotorsmight need to find a new mechanic
Such a good video and so less views, leaving a comment for more engagement
Thanks! Haha this is the hardest 1 dollar i ever made lol
Amazing work and video!
what a beautiful thing! 😮
944 is my dream car
Great video and explanations! I have a 944 Turbo that is getting a Maxxecu. The problem is I cannot find a tuner familiar with the Maxxecu. How did you get it tuned? I hope to find someone who can do it remotely, then maybe a dyno after that. Thanks!
Regarding your valve train noice.
The car has hydraulic lifters, and there is NO adjustment. Perhaps you should talk to the mechanic, that says he adjustet the valve clearance.. He is laying since it is impossible to adjust on a 944.
But otherwise nice with standalone ecu👍
Yea another commenter pointed it out already.
very strange that the mechanic said this. But the owner has already sold the car. so I don't need to follow up anymore. thanks for the info anyway
The injectors are ticking a lot on these, not the lifters, usually

What was the fix for the clutch engagement problem? My 86 951 has the same problem
Im not sure what the mechanic did. Im sorry, the car isnt mine.
Did you replace the fuel tank altogether or just split it and weld it back together. Reason I ask is because I had the same issue (early 85 steel tank 944) and split it and cleaned it before having someone weld it back together...just curious as to if it is a viable solution long term.
The tank was reconditioned , split and welded back
@@FizzyMotorsI just drained my 82 fuel and the strainer looked ok but the old fuel did look little rusty. Is it necessary for me to do this ?
Im not sure.
If you want to he sure youll need to look inside the tank
What toyota injectors?
If still vibrating did you check engine mountings ? I may drive to Thailand in April with my 89 turbo let me know if wan to meet up for coffee
The car is not mine. I was just helping out with the standalone project.
You’re driving your 944 Turbo to thailand? From where?
I have a friend with a 944 Turbo too, he might be interested to meet; that is if he hasnt sold the car by then…

@mmer1207 sounds fun! Let me know if you pass bkk
Mitsubishi sold the balance shaft tech to Porsche, 8 dollars a car is what i heard !!😊😊😊😊😊
Wow thnks for the info very interesting.
u keep saying go STAND ALONE as if we know what the hell that means... watched the vid and a few interesting things u did to her but no clue what ur talking about regards stand alone with an ecu... can only guess u used a completely diff modern ecu that stands alone from the rest.. or um... u broke circuits down individually or what ?
Please do yourself a favor and some research before you offer your opinion
@@FizzyMotors what do you think watching utube videos is u absolute helmet
What he means by standalone is usually an aftermarket ECU from companies like MEGASQUIRT or MaxxECU
@@kazanali5396 ty simple answer to t he question.. unlike the karen u tried to be smart
“The most useless (center) console ever” how true, originally engineered for cassettes, but yes basically useless in todays age.
