- This my 2010 Honda Civic - Is your hybrid car not charging the battery. To fix this problem, here’s what you need to do: Replace the blown No. 61 (10 A) IMA fuse.

For anyone wondering I did this and it solved the problem of my break system yellow light and break light also battery light. It charged to 2 bars but once I took it around the block it began charging at faster rate

So this morning I'm driving normally. Then my car stalls and stops in the middle of the road. My battery was at around 80% but I also got a IMA and red Battery Light. Now my car doesn't instantly turn on, it does that engine start normal gas cars have.

Thanks man, well It all depends on how fast you go, on freeway it switches to gas because your traveling at high speed. and street’s most of the time will be on battery 🔋 juice 🧃 but only if you don’t floor it all they way down. Hope this info help as I am having a little drink 🥃 🤘🏼😬
Well the car switches automatically in between both modes. It's not a 100% electric car. Let me explain. With the IMA mode on, the car is driven by 80% power from the gas engine + 20% electric power. When the hybrid battery is depleted, the car switches to regenerative mode. In IMA mode you'll see white bars indicating the amount of electric power used by the system. In regenerative mode you'll see green bars below the white ones. The car should work nominally in between the IMA or the regenerative modes. So it should show white or green bars. But when the battery can't hold a charge, the system detects the imbalance, the SOC meter (8 white bars) fall down immediately to only 2 or even 1 bar and starts charging without dragging any charge until the battery recovers. That's the recal mode (recalibration mode). The car tries to recondition the battery so it can hold a charge. This operation is called "recalibration".

With a Obd2 scanner you can erase the code.
That IMA fuse was blown as a security measure to disable your HV system during a crash which is evident in the blown driver airbag you have there

But after 20 hours i checked again and same problem appears with new 12v battery. Can you guide me whats the problem

Sorted it was a hybrid battery fan easy to replace yourself
Press and hold 1 and 6 button then turn the car on you’ll get the serial # write it down then you call the dealer and ask for the code with the serial #

There's a Sticker dat has a Code# for da Radio.
Located in da ""Inner/Interior Left Side""" of the Glove Compartment. If it doesn't have a Sticker then just go to nearest Honda Dealer to get da Code# for da Radio for FREE.

Do we have to drop the fuse, or can we just put it in? The code for the Radio 📻 just take to honda dealer. They will give you the code.
For better results make sure to drop it like it’s hot. I already got the code by unlocking the car door 10 times.

Check the positive connector in the 12v battery terminal. There's a screw connector that gets loose. You'll never believe how often that's the cause!
This worked for me on day one, after changing both relays and all 3 fuses. IMA performed well.
Then IMA light comes back on the next day. Now IMA battery is charging to full but not discharging at all. Any idea what can be the issue here?

Hey Chris, do I need to replace all 10A IMA FUSE?
Only the bad ones, you can check one by one holding it up and seeing if it’s blown. Or buy a fuse tester at your closes auto parts store. Thy go for under $20 us dlls

Hi chris, in my honda the battery light use to come on but when I switch the car off and put it back on after a few minutes then the battery light would come off. Now the fan don't even spin at the back and the battery light stays on . Any ideas ?
Check all your fuses and relays. Look for the vehicle fuse box location online. Type the “year make model fuse box location” same thing for the relays. If you have your owners manual look into it.

Hey Chris my hybrid is showing full battery and then it drops to 2 bars and when I accelerate the car it just stutters what can be the problem the IMA light flashes on and off sometimes
Check battery pack is getting hot. Drive with out rear seat. Also check transmission fluid it could be running low make sure to use correct transmission fluid.

Hey Hargvy Mak, if it flashes i been told it’s a sign that the battery might be going out or the charging system on the back seat can be getting hot. Check it out, hope you can find the fix.

Hi, I have a Honda Civic hybrid , the hybrid battery is already dead, can I use it only for gasoline?
It will work as gas only but your check engine and ima light will stay on you will have worse gas mileage and acceleration.

@@Lotusrk123 I guess it’s a different problem. Let me explain. The ima light and check engine are on. It DOES charge but there must be something very wrong with it. I’ll have 8 bars and the car will assist like normal, even the auto stop function works. After a tiny bit of assist it’ll drop down to 7 bars and stop assisting. It’ll go down to 2 bars and charge to 3 and back to 8. So I can’t use the L mode, once it goes past 3 bars it’ll go all the way up to 8 bars and stop charging. In conclusion there is nothing in between. 2-3 bars or 7-8 bars.
@@Lotusrk123 Okay. I see what you mean. Other than this issue the car is running wonderfully and in great condition even with 218k miles on it. I got it for 2400, what I’m afraid of is spending even more money on it or buying a new battery for something else to fail on the car. Bumblebee here in Portland has refurbished ima batteries for like 1 grand with a year insurance. I’m thinking that might be the best option.
Yes, scotty Kilmer says you can keeo on driving as long as your regular battery light don't come on. So that means the 13hp generator is still charging the regular battery.

Check the bulbs 💡 or fuses, or even wiggle the cables connecting to the lightbulb. Sometimes corrosion occurs and no contact can be made, just use some alcohol and Toothbrush to clean connectors. Fuses can be located underneath the dashboard and in the engine area. Google it.

Hi everyone help is needed I was driving my honda fit shuttle hybrid model 2017. And suddenly I saw warning ⚠️ sign up on my car 🚗 meter telling me to stop 🛑 the car.which I followed and stopped the battery was dead after few minutes then I changed a brand new battery the next day and it dried down my new battery as well so can anyone help me out and tell me what is the problem with my car ?
It’s sounds to me like the alternator isn’t charging anymore. I would recommend you getting it tested at Auto Zone or any other autoparts store, auto zone doesn’t charge to do the test. Another way is to get your car started up and disconnected the positive cable while it’s turned on, if car turns off alternator is bad. Alternator is supposed to keep vehicle on if it’s good. What’s happening now is that your car is running without the alternator charging the battery back up again. Hope this makes some sense.

Hi I know this is an old video but I am hoping I can get some help with my Honda Civic Hybrid 2007. I am at my wits end, I’ve shed so many tears over this vehicle it pretty much counts as a toxic relationship now…
I bought this car at auto auction 5 months ago. Needed a new battery, so my friend bought a “used” 12v for $50 and installed it. Check engine light has always been on, and my gas mileage has consistently been about 20mpg in town. I drive it about 35mph 3 miles to & from work each day, that’s it.
Then the car started not wanting to crank, but if I let it sit for a day or two it would start. Now the red battery light and the IMA light were on and car was completely dead, and when I got it jumped it wouldn’t crank again after I turned it off. (I let it run for 45 mins first)
Today i installed a brand new 12v battery and ALL the lights were off, and my meter was showing fully charged! I went back in work for 2 Hours, came out, and the car cranked but battery light was back on and the charge was down to just 2 bars. Now it’s dead again. 😮💨🥺😥
These are the signs of major internal charging problem, only an expert hybrid mechanic can repair this issue since it involves disassembling the big battery pack, and checking the connection wires. This is a common problem for its age.

Yes could be a fuse maybe a cable is stripped and messing everything up.
