I got the Capra the day it came out in my area and had it together that night. I was so excited about it. The upgrades you did are nice, but it should be noted that it works quite nicely stock. The shorter shocks will help, but the fuel tube or pin spring mod will give the same as a shorter shock. The only thing I don't care for stock is the wheels. They may be the worst Axial wheel I have ever had. I think you are going to love this truck.
Great vid, I just got a capra and it's super fun! I'm running a castle slate 2850kv on 3s with the stock pinion. Great low speed crawling and enough speed for mud or whatever!

I added 4 wheel steer on mine. i have overdrive gears up front HR gears. I am running dravtech 90mm shocks with soft springs 40wt up front and 70wt in the rear. Running a Hobbywing 1080 esc, tekin 35t HD motor, SX107 dig servo, Reefs rc triple 4 up front and a protek 370tbl on the rear. Also running VP blue bully wheels with beef patties up front wrapped with voodoo klr X4's with their foams. and finally I 3d printed my body panels in real blue.
Just got my Kit, Buying - Hobbywing XR10 Pro G2 ESC & V10 G3R 25.5T Brushless Combo, Buying Upgrades - F&R Steering with Reefs 444 Servos & Reefs 99 Mocro for Dig. Already have Hyrax Predator 1.9 on Treal Beadlocks, May swap for Spec RC Beadlock Wheels. Have - Radio & Receiver FS-GT5 for Crawl Modes Waiting for 1st Run to decide on shock upgrades. 1st CG Mod will be Samix Brass knuckle and portal covers w/scale Brake & Rotor F&R Eventually Custom Links to experiment with climbing Geometry
I enjoyed building my Capra. I'm thinking of building another one. I had one issue with the kit, though. I find it hard to mount the proline hyrax on the plastic wheels that come with the kit. I ended up using generic aluminum wheels.
Looks amazing. One thing you said that I don't agree with. You do need the Loctite on plastic and metal. Some screws hold without it but I wouldn't take the chance of having something fall off. It's up to you as what to do with your RC though.
Cant wait for aluminum axels and a steal cage to come out for this. Nice choice of bead locks you used. Some brass would make it a better crawler. Over all its an impressive rig for the money.
Your Capra looks good. I think I’m going to eventually settle on the RTR version. It’ll keep me from spending a ton of money on a kit build as I typically do
You've done a great job on that it looks fantastic. I've only done one Axial kit which was my Yeti and I have to say they are lovely kits but a bit more difficult than a Tamiya! Great mods and info, thanks :-)

There are some simple mods out there to increase steering angle even more. Nice build looks great. Ya, the 27 turn is a bit high, the gearing isnt real low. Can't go wrong with go a hand wound 35 turn tekin. I like the rims they look well made. Looking forward to the 1st running video.

This review/build was informative and graphic enough that if I was fortunate enough to have a proper workbench, lighting, and ancillary appurtenances I would attempt it. I am however eager to check out the rumored RTR when available. Then all I'll need is find a plug adaptor for my Traxxas battery and I'm set. I very much like the pastel Mountains on your side panels.
@RC Girl .. you mentioned @ 1:25 about possibly stripping out a screw when doing the side attachment to the skidplate .. question I have .. do you know of a secret to removing a stripped screw from that location ? I know I probably stripped 2 of those screws trying to get them in (to scared to check) :(
I ended up needing to disassemble it this weekend and in fact two of those m3x18mm screws were stripped. 😩 Typically I'd suggest Dremeling a notch in the head and using a flat head to get it out but these are inset in the chassis plate. What I ended up doing was using a different shape/larger bit and kind of jamming it in. Luckily that worked. I replaced all those screws with some I got from the hardware store made out of harder metal and they seem fine now. Good luck!

I’m brand new at this. Just bought a Capra. Tried to upgrade tires and wheels but once I got them mounted the motor wouldn’t turn them like they were bound up tight. Any ideas? I put the stock tires and wheels back on and it works fine
upgrade esc to a hobby wing 1080 for brushed motors. cost $40 fully programmable, program card comes with it. i installed one on my scx 2 works great.

MIP drive shafts are pretty tough also
