This was a trip down memory lane, as a teenager I built the 'Gangbuster' 1928 Lincoln back in the 70's when released by Airfix here in the UK. They later released a '28 Lincoln two door Cabriolet using a number of the same parts; I built this too as back then I was very much into 1/24th scale vintage cars. The Rolls Royce was definitely the Monogram model; the missing part was a small opening door to allow access to the 'Dickie' or 'Rumble' seat (depending on which side of the 'pond' you are from). Again, this was another kit I built back in the early 70's along with many other Monogram offerings of Duesenbergs, Packards, Model A Fords, '41 Lincoln Continental and a Cord 812. Back then they really were 'state of the art' and some of the best kits, in my opinion, available at the time alongside Lindberg's (lovely Bugatti Royale). Monogram even released a number of 1/24th scale vintage cars with metal body parts, I built a Duesenberg and Jaguar XK 120 in this medium; all long since given away. How times change...

Those kits are very interesting! I love seeing the old survivors, especially the Tom Daniel kit! Thanks for the video 😎👍

I've only really learned about the Tom Daniel kits while researching for this vid. He came up with some really cool and cooky stuff! I've also just added another link in the description to a list of the kits he did with Monogram.

An interesting post. I built the Monogram Rolls and MPC Lincoln back when they came out. I actually restored the Lincoln from just a stock model molded in black to using dark green with a lighter green interior. I believe That Lincoln came with optional bullet hole windshield and Gang buster decals or could be stock. I chose stock. I thought the Duesenberg was the Monogram one as I have built a couple versions in the past, but I have never seen a body like that one. It might be rare or a reissue with new body. The real Boot Hill express was built by Ray Farhner and his son and featured in the March 1967 Rod & Custom magazine that I have a copy of. I never knew a model was made of it. By the way, that issue has a cutaway drawing of the car that Tom Daniel, who was at Rod & Custom at the time, made. Great post!

In the 60's and 70's they would make custom show rods.

Tommy Ivo's Showboat was very popular in exhibition matches. here is video of the last time Tommy was at the wheel. The car is what the Showboat eventually evolved into

🛵 Think i'd toss most everything in a tub of degreaser cleaner and see what can be started over.
