  • Finally, we can share with you all our graduating film: Forget Me Not
    This was our thesis film made for the Classical Animation Program at LCAD
    This film took two and half years to make and mostly just the two of us handling the entire pipeline from start to finish. There are a few people we also want to credit in helping us make this film-- we couldn't have done it without them!
    Music Composer: Maria Vertiz
    Credits and Typography: Amin Seyedi
    Set Designing and 3D Modeling: Austin Tyler
    And for those wondering: The credit song is Un Amor Asi by Luis Rios
    If you like our film and want to see more from us in the future, please consider supporting us on Patreon! / thelonelystarstudio

      It really does mean a lot... Sometimes when I was younger I would think to myself "would they even realize if I'm gone? Would they care?" I still think like that sometimes to this day..

    There are 2 meanings to this smooth and beautiful film.
    1. They still care
    2. They only care when you're gone

    • @xxstar-bluesxx
      @xxstar-bluesxx ปีที่แล้ว +128

      I think it's like number 2 in this situation. They only worry about you when they realized you got in trouble or gone. Which is bad parenting. But since the father is just a single-parent, it's just complicated.

    • @RajeswariR-hk8es

      It all depends on how you perceive people,its a fact that life is a struggle for a single parent raising two kids ,a child of her age obviously will lack the emotional maturity to understand not to demand attention at all times from her father.But somewhere deep in her heart she did know that her father does care for her.In this busy life being overburdened with responsibility humans fails to express love to others.the preoccupied mind doesn't allow you too think about minute aspects of relationships.

    There’s several meanings that can be drawn from this (pun intended), but the part that made me cry was how Ophelia was able to recognize the lost child’s pain and, knowing that they are missed, was then able to help the lost child and then herself. Sometimes we don’t recognize the solution to our own problems until we see someone else experience something similar. Absolutely beautiful animation btw!!!

  • @girl1213
    @girl1213 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +23

    Dad's a single parent. His strictness is because he doesn't want to parentified Ophella, but he does need her to be more understanding that he's only one person trying to do the job of two people. And her sister isn't old enough or able enough to do things on her own yet, meaning that she needs him in ways Ophella doesn't anymore (feeding, walking, all things babies can't do on their own). Still Ophella's young and doesn't understand just yet. Finding the lost boy and his missing poster helped her gain that understanding, especially when she reunited with her father and sister and seeing how they *both* were worried about her.
    Seems the lost boy was in a similar situation to her: single parent household with siblings. Only instead of being the oldest child, he's one of the middle children. Mom's no doubt even more busy then Ophella's dad and middle children often feel like the oddballs because they are neither the responsible elders nor the needy youngest. And Mom must have a harder time splitting her attention between five kids: the majority of which are boys.

    • @TheDisneyLover58
      @TheDisneyLover58 11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      But that’s not fair in a sense you vilifying the young children. Even some parents can be neglectful. Ophelia IS still young but even single parents can’t take that for granted. While yes kids need learn that sometimes other siblings need help than other you can’t take that for granted. A little child can’t make up these feelings.

    I love how the film is based around the flowers forget-me-nots and shows them repeatedly in the film. It’s also based around a garden so makes sense.
    I absolutely loved this. There’s also not many short films in Spanish with subtitles and as someone trying to learn Spanish at the moment it was really helpful.
    I love the meaning behind it and how the kid felt like a black cat who was unwanted and was like a bad omen.
    Beautiful animation. So much thought put into it.

    Me lembrou o meu eu de alguns anos atrás.
    Não tinha me acostumado com aquela divisão de atenção ou olhos mais voltados para a pequena. Foram muitas fazes tentando se adequar e achar um refúgio para preencher essa mistura de solidão com raiva.
    Eram reclamações bobas e abrir mão de minhas coisas para dar à pequena. Se ela me batia, eu tinha que deixar ou se quebrava um dos meus brinquedos, eu não tinha liberdade para expressar raiva ou choro, pois associavam à dramatização.
    Eu encontrei ao longo dos anos, pessoas que também se sentiam como eu, perdidas e que queriam alguém para soltar palavras 'presas' ou qualquer pessoa para apoiar-se.
    Desesperadas pela atenção.
    Essas pessoas que conheci, estavam na mesma situação, mas só pioravam. Sugavam a minha energia e me puxavam mais ainda para o fundo do oceano. Numa correnteza e com as mãos amarradas uma à outra, a opção seria não pensar só em si nesses momentos, ajudando você e a pessoa que também passa por isso. Por mais que os sentimentos sejam os mais complexos, uma pequena frase pode fazer uma diferença
    “Você não está sozinho,
    nunca esteve e
    sempre fará a diferença”.

    The underwater scene is my favorite part. Such good music and sound design! That part is so beautifully animated, with the details of the other child's subtle changes in appearance. I love the composition of the part where Ophelia hears her dad's voice and is brought into the light. I keep coming back to it.
    I really liked this animation. The adorable characters and stunning backgrounds really give off a whimsical and child-like feeling. I felt like I was taken on an adventure to an unknown world.
    The ending with the baby reaching out for Ophelia and seeing the boy's family run to greet him literally brought tears to my eyes.
    Tl;Dr: this is a great animation and I will definitely be coming back to watch it years from now

      I don't think the music for the underwater scene is appropriate. The music should be ominous to highlight the terror of Ophelia. Clare de Lune is peaceful where the scene is not.

    💐Enjoyed this! Ppl of all ages struggle to connect when they are dysregulated, resulting in so many misunderstandings (feelings of inadequacy, rejection, abandonment.. ) increasing the distance between them. It is challenging but rewarding to fight against that current to reconnect, mend & build stronger connections. Children are not the only runaways- hurting fathers & hurting mothers leave their hurting children as dysregulation dominos thru society (so many hurting, lonely ppl..). Make a vid about this! 😉
