"Small child who befriends every animal" in the book it was actually the dad who did that. Nevertheless, I love your sunroom, it’s so light and airy and beautiful.
I feel like everyone here is just dying to be Rachel's friend. She seems like that one buddy you can be an absolute weirdo around and not be judged for it. Digging the A E S T H E T I C of this room! You inspire me to get back to being creative. I think my next fun little project is going to be your Coraline doll, so thanks! Love from neighboring NY.
This is really making me want to get a house and have a sunroom like this and like a huge library. I blame series of unfortunate events tbh. The reptile room is def a huge inspiration for me and this video reminds me a lot of it :'D
I'm redecorating my bedroom in an enchanted forest theme with my loft bed as the "treehouse," and I keep coming back to this video for inspiration because it turned out so gosh darn aesthetic!
I have spent the last three days in a deep depression, having panic attacks, etc. And this was so, so, so calming to watch. I haven't really got out of the bed in three days but watching you work, do things with your hands is always a good reminder of how much I used to love doing that and by association, makes me feel better. Thank you!
Whoa, Betty J that is no good. I hope that watching videos of lovely young people like these lifts your spirits and helps you on the way up. AndI encourage you to get some help if you need it. Health professionals are doing online consults.
Hope you're feeling better, I'm going through the same thing currently. We'll find happiness and calm again, every obstacle is a blessing eventually. Keep safe ❤
Just when I thought Rachel's videos couldn't get any more therapeutic, she does interior design and banishes some of the eternal anxiety I am feeling at the moment ❤❤❤
Your first cleaning outfit reminds me of Lucy or Ethel in later seasons on I Love Lucy when pants became ok housewear. (It helps that you have Ethel’s oval face shape and Lucy’s red hair)
I laughed so hard at M.E.H. - had to stop and explain to my fiance why I was laughing so much. Such a great find and perfect for the aesthetic!! Well done!
Super happy about this. If I could live my life in a Victorian conservatory I most definitely would! Fun fact, my husband proposed to me at the Swiss Family tree house at Disney World! The room looks sensational! Well done!
This makes me miss my bedroom when I was a teen, I fixed it so cool with antique trunks, globes, maps and lanterns all styled after a 1600s shipyard office that I saw pictures of, all of which I worked my absolutely butt off to pay for and now I’m a boring ass adult with with plain kid proof furniture and very little decorations and barely a hint of anything vintage :-(
I get it, but remember this is just for a time. Someday we will have our nice homes back, lol. In the meantime I just hid my breakables on a shelf above my kitchen cupboards. Completely out of reach, but I see them :)
It’s actually pretty easy to childproof nice rooms, just as long as you don’t have little mouth sized trinkets, all you need is some creative potting so they don’t eat dirt, a fluffier rug or table covering for added protection. There are even ways to diy funky looking child/pet gates using different paints or materials. And the only other worry is glass tables after that. Just a few suggestions as an older sibling who grew up with a little brother and personalized my own space around him. 👍🏼
@@teritt That worked with my first child, and works with my 3yo, but my middle child is a Rogue engineer that has taken it as a delightful game to figure out every single child proofing measure I have thrown at him. I think it's the Okeh Laughing Record, a classic from 1922. Yes, it's a real thing, and was a big hit. It sounds so weird now, but it was one of the first of that kind of novelty records, and, without that, no Dr. Demento, no Weird Al.
@@DS-uh6ss yes I remember listening to it years ago in New Zealand on the radio. You could call the station to request songs or stories, etc, and one of them was The Laughing Policeman
I’ve been waiting for this! I want to do this to my living room, but I’m sixteen so clearly, not my house to design. I’ve made my room a time machine though! 1940’s-50’s vibes all the way!
I love the room, I can just imagine sitting in there reading H G Wells or Jules Verne but there is a part of me that can't help wondering where all of the previous clutter/ephemera ended up.
OMG It's beautiful!! 😍😭💀 I wish I had a sunroom like this in our house, but we live in SoCal so that's not really a common feature in houses, since it would probably just turn into a literal oven in the summer. One small recommendation: If you haven't already, make a copy of the picture of your great-grandma, and keep the copy in the frame and the original in a photo album somewhere. With that much sunlight in the room, old photographs like that would get bleached out pretty quickly.
I love love love the way you narrate your dog. "Drive-by mlem" made me laugh out loud. I can't believe you did all this in a week. I wish I could say your motivation helped to motivate me, but I think I'll just watch more TH-cam.
Yeah the motivation involved is the most impressive to me! We have been in our house for almost a year and after refinishing some wood floors ourselves we lost alllll momentum. But we are trying! My father in law is downsizing and we are getting some cool pieces from him.
Oh Rachel!!!! You did such a great job!!! And the phonograph bit had me laughing so hard. I just want to know the thought process of the guy that went "Yeah, lets put sinister laughter on the other side of the record. That''ll be cool.". 😂
I feel like they had to have done that for anyone with a haunted house, or Halloween set up, since its always a vibe to have a creepy haunted gramophone
Love this. I’m in the middle of redecorating my bedroom so this is really fun to watch. I’m going for like a vintage, English cottage, literary... vibe. Like a mix of cottage core and light academia lol. Lots of blue and white and antiques and I love it so far 💙
Ooh! Interior makeovers are so lovely to watch 🥰 And you have like such great style, can't wait to see the end result! ❤ Thank you for yet another video, I hope you're doing well 🌻
Also Rachel, this is a weird thing to be complimented on, but you sure know how to pose. I usually find "mandatory narcissistic montages" super cringy, but I looooove yours!
More room makeovers please. This is everything I ever wanted or needed. Finally my love for room cleaning montages has met my love for historic type things
"When doubt add more stuff" Legit my life. I know what you mean I just redid my 2nd room of my home into a beauty room. It did feel like a strange time to be doing a renovation but I needed to decompress after long hours at my hospital job. It actually helped. Loved how the room turned out!
This is awesome! Do you watch “From the Mind of Christine McConnell?” You could totally do those pillows she did. I know what you mean about gramophones- I have been keeping an eye out for an Edison Phonograph, and it is SO hard to find one that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.
If we're talking Christine McConnell and gramophones, I can't help but be reminded of her DIY gramophone revamp tutorial. It turned out awfully gorgeous! I could 100% see a green toned version sitting in Rachel's sun room.
You put in place pretty well the flooring and even a pro would had have some space as you did and that's one of the reason why we usually install molding (to hide those kind of details). For the echo, you can help reduce it by adding fabric (curtains, carpet, cushions, etc.) or more soft surface.
I just finished my living room in this style and shared it on the bohome page I follow. I was calling it Old-English-Boho, but I think your description is far better! Do a HOUSE TOUR!!!
Lol...I scrolled through the comments bc I knew there had to be another plant "nerd" in here somewhere honing in on those plants like I was...and I figured I'd find someone else who also thought it was some type of pothos!!!
It is likely Epipremnum aureum, a very common household plant (ours is over 25 years old!). Apparently it is commonly referred to as pothos in english, since it was once assigned to that genus. (I'm not a native English speaker and in my native language it has a different trivial name. I have a hard time matching up common names and scientific names in English, so I can't speak to whether the previous commenters and I mean the same plant.)
It turned out amazingly. I love that you are able to live in your grandmother ‘s house. If my grandparents hadn’t lived in Florida near Miami I would have loved to live in their house. Just not a fan of the heat and humidity down there and it is bad enough here in NC.

Haha I believe you, wasn't really a comment about parenting and more about how he literally trapped a baby elephant so he could use it as a plow 😂😂😂
Haha, so we're using the term befriending loosely here.
Me xd
The finished room is exactly what I imagined this room looked like before you zoomed out in the beginning of the video.
That you have your grandmother's house is so special. This was a fun room makeover to watch. (Much more fun to watch you than do the work myself! Grin)
this is everything I have ever wanted, I can’t express how much I love the aesthetic
🤗❤️❤️❤️
Well... my aesthetic is apparently “Jungle-Tree-House-Swiss-Family-Robinson-Kind-Of-Vibe-Minus-The-Small-Child-Who-Insists-On-Befriending-Every-Single-Wild-Animal-And-For-Some-Reason-The-Family’s-Ok-With-It.” Hmmm I think Google’s gonna have a hard time helping me with that one. 😂 . Nevertheless, I love your sunroom, it’s so light and airy and beautiful.
Stop picking on Frances! 😥
Boho cottagecore
Elisa Finlayson Google: “British Colonial” for this aesthetic.
Love this ‘reimagining’ of a somewhat neglected catchall into a quirky fun Victorian sunroom retreat. Thanks for the non-beige-ness.
I CONCUR
Damn the reptile room is my dream house lmao
omg the Reptile Room aesthetic is EVERYTHING
YESSS
Health professionals are doing online consults.
same over here, betty. hope we get out of our slumps. all the best!
Hope you're feeling better, I'm going through the same thing currently. We'll find happiness and calm again, every obstacle is a blessing eventually. Keep safe ❤
I wish you all the best, love you man ❤️
@@mary554 thank you Mary, same to you 💙
I wish cleaning was actually as fun as it looked like on TH-cam.
True I think it's the cute music and the fast forward feature.
The little tip-of-the-hat to cribs made me lol literally. Which I don't do often. I love the make over.
Just when I thought Rachel's videos couldn't get any more therapeutic, she does interior design and banishes some of the eternal anxiety I am feeling at the moment ❤❤❤
Literally me
Defiantly agree! was thinking of watching this video again in the future as a pick-me-up:D
@@jasminemoreno2881
That is me right now! 😋
I usually don't like live action BUT THIS tarzan live action is so beautiful!
the fact that i can remember the stage of quarantine this came out in,,,,,, it feels like literal years ago tf
Your first cleaning outfit reminds me of Lucy or Ethel in later seasons on I Love Lucy when pants became ok housewear. (It helps that you have Ethel’s oval face shape and Lucy’s red hair)
😂❤️❤️❤️
You could drape panels of tobacco cloth on the ceiling to give it an “inside of a tent” look!
I've seen that used in hotels and they look GORGEOUS with palm plants and wood. It really breathes life into the room.
the natural light is so bright!
I laughed so hard at M.E.H. - had to stop and explain to my fiance why I was laughing so much. Such a great find and perfect for the aesthetic!! Well done!
Me too! I woke up my husband laughing and had to explain to him where he promptly fell back asleep!
same 😂
My initials are M.E.H. and I love to surprise people with that fact if we're ever discussing names!
Super happy about this. If I could live my life in a Victorian conservatory I most definitely would! Fun fact, my husband proposed to me at the Swiss Family tree house at Disney World! The room looks sensational! Well done!
This makes me miss my bedroom when I was a teen, I fixed it so cool with antique trunks, globes, maps and lanterns all styled after a 1600s shipyard office that I saw pictures of, all of which I worked my absolutely butt off to pay for and now I’m a boring ass adult with with plain kid proof furniture and very little decorations and barely a hint of anything vintage :-(
Don’t need to be that way, get yourself some old style furniture and get back at it 💖💖
omg, that sounds so cool, i've been thinking of decorating my bedroom for the first time and you just added to my idea : D
And he has done so successfully, I might add. Took him only 30 minutes to figure out the two button strap lock for the freezer drawer... He was 3 at the time.
Me clicking on this video: oh I love this room it's so pretty, I wonder Rachel doesn't film in here more.
Me when she zooms out: oh.
😂😂😂😂😂 exactly
the other side of that record sounds like a horrible rendition of the “laughing policeman”. proper nightmare fuel.......
It kinda reminds me of that vintage audio for children titled "Santa Claus is hiding in your phonograph"
@@lobeliaowl2482 Oh, good God
Someone fill me in
I think it's the Okeh Laughing Record, a classic from 1922.
Why is “vintage jungle treehouse” not an aesthetic on the Mr. Kate quiz? Because, yes.
I’ve been waiting for this! I want to do this to my living room, but I’m sixteen so clearly, not my house to design. I’ve made my room a time machine though! 1940’s-50’s vibes all the way!
The new englander jumped out in the way you say "room"
Hahaha does it?
Rum
Haha yeah!
I’m from New England and I thought that’s how everyone says it 😭
Whaa??? Never realized we say it weird. It's just room lmao
Who could possibly dislike this video? Love the room's vibe and your personality
11 months later and I finally realized why I love this so much. Its like the Magic Kingdom jungle cruise aesthetic of my dreams.
“You, me, and Mister Clean. Get down to business!”
You’re the best Rachel! 😂
I scrolled to this comment exactly as she said it cooool
Elizabeth Bryce 😂 lol
I love love love the way you narrate your dog. "Drive-by mlem" made me laugh out loud. I can't believe you did all this in a week. I wish I could say your motivation helped to motivate me, but I think I'll just watch more TH-cam.
Heehee thank you lovely!!! Making videos definitely helps me with motivation 😂😂 I totally would have kept putting it off otherwise
Yeah the motivation involved is the most impressive to me! We have been in our house for almost a year and after refinishing some wood floors ourselves we lost alllll momentum. But we are trying! My father in law is downsizing and we are getting some cool pieces from him.
Put the telescope in the empty spot ☺️ Such an adorable room, love it so much!
I was thinking the same thing. At least until Rachel finds a more vintage scope. ☺️
Oh Rachel!!!! You did such a great job!!! And the phonograph bit had me laughing so hard. I just want to know the thought process of the guy that went "Yeah, lets put sinister laughter on the other side of the record. That''ll be cool.". 😂
😂😂❤️❤️❤️ right?
I feel like they had to have done that for anyone with a haunted house, or Halloween set up, since its always a vibe to have a creepy haunted gramophone
I reckon someone just misplaced their tormented soul collection in the gramophone.
@@weliveinasociety4629 Hmmm! Good Point!
@@CocoaHerBeansness Bwhaaaa!!! Now I have a picture of this stressed out intern rushing around to find this record.
Love this. I’m in the middle of redecorating my bedroom so this is really fun to watch. I’m going for like a vintage, English cottage, literary... vibe. Like a mix of cottage core and light academia lol. Lots of blue and white and antiques and I love it so far 💙
Re-watching in the fall, and thinking that this room will be a balm to the soul once the snow starts coming down...
Ooh! Interior makeovers are so lovely to watch 🥰 And you have like such great style, can't wait to see the end result! ❤ Thank you for yet another video, I hope you're doing well 🌻
🤗🤗🤗🤗
@@rachelmaksy Wow! The sunroom turned out absolutly amazing! And that ending bit of cinematography 🌸🌻🌹🍃❤
I heard your knees crack when you got up to start the flooring. Relatable
It's nice to see such a youngling enjoying Victorian life. I had thought passion was dead.
Also Rachel, this is a weird thing to be complimented on, but you sure know how to pose. I usually find "mandatory narcissistic montages" super cringy, but I looooove yours!
"so i quickly sketched up this"
_creates a masterpiece_
Rachel is living out my dream aesthetics and I’m seriously jealous
This was the kind of quality content I come on to the internet for
More room makeovers please. This is everything I ever wanted or needed. Finally my love for room cleaning montages has met my love for historic type things
I have just spent over an hour watching all of your home improvement videos and it’s so nice to see everything coming together
"When doubt add more stuff" Legit my life. I know what you mean I just redid my 2nd room of my home into a beauty room. It did feel like a strange time to be doing a renovation but I needed to decompress after long hours at my hospital job. It actually helped. Loved how the room turned out!
Cool!
This is awesome! Do you watch “From the Mind of Christine McConnell?” You could totally do those pillows she did. I know what you mean about gramophones- I have been keeping an eye out for an Edison Phonograph, and it is SO hard to find one that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.
If I had the cash, I'd buy that house the second she put it on the market. Love her channel.
What's the name of the page?
It's a facebook page called "Bohome." It's very interactive. I enjoy it a lot!
That plant looks like a pothos or "devil's ivy" (named for their being extremely hard to kill).
NICE 😂❤️
Lol...I scrolled through the comments bc I knew there had to be another plant "nerd" in here somewhere honing in on those plants like I was...and I figured I'd find someone else who also thought it was some type of pothos!!!
Yup, that's what I came here to say too! Pothos! It's also called 'money plant' in South Asia coz it's supposed to bring prosperity. 😌
Yes! I love them because I only have to remember to water once a week and to prune the dead off of it.
This looks so cozy! I can only imagine lounging in this room with a book and cup of tea...
Wait - you have a pillow that says "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good" that's too cuteee
Add telescope (star gazer, I don’t know what’s it called )in empty space .
I think that is a good idea.
Yes! And wrap some leather with brass around part to cover the logo
It turned out amazingly. I love that you are able to live in your grandmother ‘s house. If my grandparents hadn’t lived in Florida near Miami I would have loved to live in their house. Just not a fan of the heat and humidity down there and it is bad enough here in NC.
Loved this video! The drone shots were so lovely. I can totally see why you'd want to sit and relax out there. Now I wish I had a sunroom!
Literally house GOALS. This is the kind of room I want in my dream house
It was chic-cluttered, and now it's just chic. Brava.
This gave me such Christine McConnell vibes! I would love to see the two of you do a collab one day!
