My one claim to fame: when I came to this country in 1958, I didn't drive, so naturally bought a vespa in Cambridge Mass. where I hung out in folk song cafes. A beautiful young woman who sang was my instructor from the dealership. She sat on the sidewalk crying because she had broken up with her boyfriend and didn't know what she was going to do with her life. I said, " You have a lovely voice: have you ever thought of singing"? My one claim to fame!
Joan Baez & Joni Mitchell took me through my young years & nourished my Spirit with Brilliance, Truth and Beauty. They are woven into the Tapestry of my Consciousness ! ! How Lucky am I ? ! !
One of the greatest 2 minutes of my life came when I got to meet her in Seattle on her farewell tour.. I've loved her since I was 8 years old And I heard her sing Joe Hill in a commercial for a record album. she is one of the moving influences in my life for looking at human beings in the different way. She's very sassy and forward, But if you walk into her embrace for just a few minutes, You can feel the sincerity and the peace within that hug.....seriously
Joan Baez is one of the most remarkable women that ever lived on this planet. All of the amazingly good things she did for our society the social changes the activism in her music was amazing.
@@barbarosasmth2104 what are you on about, feminism back then was not what it is today, and it was both needed and unavoidable. Weak and insecure men (and women) help destroy families, not that.
Ich war mit 19 am Bodensee auf einem Konzert von dir und bin ein treuer Fan. Ich bin froh, dass du immer noch spielst und singst, du bist ein ermutigendes Vorbild!!!
First inadvertently came across her on Judas Priest LP. Was young and didn’t know about her or Bob yet. Had the pleasure seeing her at Michigan State University back in the 80’s. What a remarkable person!!!
I watched the documentary John Baez I Am A Noise. At first, I kept thinking, why did they make a movie about the great Joan that was not as talented as the one about Bob Dylan? I couldn't understand why all the movies were about her sisters and parents. And then I realized that this is the most intimate and honest movie about a famous personality I have ever seen. I was shocked to learn this side of Joan, which I must have listened to every day for 10 years. So brave and calm on stage, she suffered from anxiety and attacks all her life, which prevented her from building long-term intimate relationships and becoming as popular as she deserved. But in her simple everyday life, in her down-to-earth life, there is her true feminine divine essence. She always seemed to me a goddess of voice and singing. And now I realized that she is a goddess offstage as well. She's not played up, she's real. Wise to infinity. A woman
My parents gave me tickets to see Baez in the mid seventies, in Berkeley, Ca. I was a teen, and was not really into her. Now that I am 61, I feel very happy my folks were not able to attend her concert, and I went instead. Bob D. did make an appearance that afternoon in 1977.
I saw this movie yesterday and it was so beautiful and moving. It’s really satisfying for lifelong fans because the doc offers an intimate portrait of Joan’s life. Can’t recommend it enough. Love Joan forever 🥹❤️
listening to Joe Hill and Swing Low Sweet Chariot as a child on the Woodstock 69 VHS tape was always a favourite and fond memory that I hold dear… Yes, there were other amazing performances all throughout that weekend, but she was and is my fav
Joan Baez opens the door to her heart in this significant and essential documentary. I appreciated her openness to her mental health struggles, finding I could relate in many ways. This is a must see documentary, especially for music lovers!
I love Joan, when my daughter was born for some reason she reminded me of her,Such a wonderful spirit.... can't wait to see the documentary...What a voice, Thank You 👍🏿🙏🏿👑♥️♥️
Thanks Lana fans for supporting this. Although I don’t really care for Lana’s music past NFR, I’m glad that Baez gets her own spotlight and support from y’all. ❤
Going to see this with my grandma. Who saw her in Boston when she introduced Bob Dylan who was a nobody, with freaky symbols between his knees everyone thought was weird lol
I DON'T KNOW HOW JOAN BAEZ CAN POSSIBLY SAY THAT OUT OF ALL THE DECADES SHE LIVED, SHE PREFERS THIS ONE!!! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE??? This is the WORST decade I have ever known. And it will get worse.
I haven 't seen the movie, which would give a context to that statement, but maybe she meant that - in her personal life - this was the best decade...?

Joan Baez has a heart, mind and soul that is music. Thankful for her contribution to the greater good. Truly an inspiration.
And what was that "greater good"? She could get by on her real talent while everything else was smoke and mirrors.
Contributing to the greater good is my thought of an artist offering their music to the universe
@@denisecascione 💯 She is, and always has been, a gift.
So true and so thankful for her and for her music❤
