When I saw this scene with Gray and his father for the first time, I simply washed my face in hysterics. And every time I watch it, the tears still flow. Knowing Gray's entire history, this moment hurts different..

This additional carbon enhances the properties of iron, making it stronger and more durable. That's what Gajeel did under the dark water, absorbing the carbon.
I love this arc for highlighting the trio of Natsu, Gray and Lucy, making each of them love their most loved parent-figure (Lucy lost Aquarius who looked after her since she lost her mother, Gray lost his father, and Natsu, well, yknow). And having each of them get power ups. Lucy got Aquarius's power, Gray got his dad's ice devil slayer magic, and Natsu, having lost HIS parent-figure, will come back with own power up/crimson tattoo. I love how each of their power ups have their own temporary tattoos/marks too. Lucy has the Aquarius symbol on her collarbone, Gray has the ice devil slayer mark on his forearm, and Natsu will have a crimson dragon tattoo on his arm. These are some epic character growths right there!
What I love about Fairy Tail is that unlike Dragon Ball Z & Super, Everyone gets spotlight and increased power. Even though the show is mainly about two characters, the whole cast are made important and feel like they matter to the series overall. For all the hate Fairy Tail gets, it's undeniably one of the ones that give plot and overall circumstance that umpf and emotion behind all the fighting
Facts. Despite how many people hate the final arc, I love it for that exact reason. Everyone gets spotlight. I'll add that Fairy tail also uses legit reasons for all the plot armor that other anime has. Characters like Goku and Luffy will have a speech about hurting his friends and gets back up just because. In Fairy tail strong emotions give a huge boost. That's why Juvia was able to beat Keyes and Sting was able to beat his master in the gmg arc. Also anime characters will "hear" their friends talk in certain situations but in Fairy tail magic connects everyone. If you have a bond with someone then you can hear them in emotional situations. Just like how Gray heard Erza during battle of fairy tail and Erza heard Jellal in her fight with Azuma. Only Silver, Mavis, Mardgeer, and Warren can control it. The power system is dope

Years later I rewatched this episode-the whole fight Silver Vs Gray and Juvia vs Keyes, I’m bawling my eyes out. Silver’s story is so tragic and Gray was truly cursed until he found FT. Silver asking him kill him to relive him was just so hard to watch.💔
They changed this scene in anime. In manga, after Gajeel defeated Torafuzar, Gray appeared and one shotted Tempester using his Ice Devil Slaying magic while in anime, they made Laxus appear to give him a moment here.
The moment between Gray and Silver is probably one of my favorite Fairy Tail scenes ever. I watched it in dub and the voice acting was phenomenal. It was a sob fest watching it for the first time, especially when they revealed the cross with Mika and Gray's names on it 😢
There's a couple of things y'all got confused in the video. First of all demons and demon slayers are not the same. Also Dragon slayers, god slayers, and devil slayers don't all work the same way. Natsu wouldn't be useless because ONLY god slayers don't allow you to absorb their element. However E.N.D. is a fire demon. NOT a demon slayer. So Natsu could eat his fire but they can't hurt each other with it so they have to throw hands. Second. Gajeel had a whole transformation that y'all missed. I haven't seen the show since 2019 so I think I missed it too because of how it's not explained. but basically the reason they kept talking about absorbing the carbon in the water is because despite how bad it is for everyone else, Gajeel used it to turn his Iron into Steel.
